"A perfect family holiday…"
We have just returned from another amazing week at North Hayne Farm Cottages. If you are thinking of booking one of the cottages, I would highly recommend it. Cheryl, Farmer Roger, Farmer Reg and Jenny looked after us so well and are so friendly. When we arrived it felt like we were being greeted by old friends! We have a 3.5 year old and he absolutely loved the freedom of the farm. Last year it took him a while to build up the confidence to feed the animals but this year he loved it. Feeding the lambs and the daily donkey ride on Barney were highlights for him plus all the friendships he made.
We stayed in Tom Kitten this year which was perfect for us. It is a two bedroomed light and airy bungalow with very high ceilings. We stayed in Peter Rabbit last year which was lovely and cosy but my husband (who is 6ft5) struggled with the ceiling heights. A ‘normal’ person would be fine but not giants! He did not have this problem this year.
We enjoyed the hot tub every evening, a perfect way to end the day with a glass or two of fizz.
It was my birthday and Father’s Day during our stay and secretly we both corresponded with Cheryl to arrange some surprises. I would highly recommend ordering Cheryl’s chocolate cake. Calling it just a chocolate cake does not do it justice – it was an explosion of chocolate. It tasted fantastic and unfortunately my waist line is now reminding me of it! The Father’s Day treat comprised of cider, chocolates and biscuits – none of which lasted very long!Read moreLess
"Great family fun…"
We stayed at North Hayne farm for a week in March 2015.

Cheryl, Roger, Reg and Jenny made us very welcome from the moment we arrived with a cream tea and delicious local cider. The cottage was really well laid out and equipped with lots of thought put into it and made our stay really easy, with our 3 year old and 8 month old to keep under control! The trails around the farm kept our kids very happy but the best times were the morning and afternoon animal feeds with farmer Reg and farmer Jenny, then a donkey ride in the lovely paddock.

The hot tubs are well looked after by farmer Roger and ours was a brilliant place to unwind at the end of the day.

The farm is within easy reach of many lovely beaches and we were lucky enough to have the weather to enjoy them.

We will definitely be returning. Our kids would have gladly moved in!Read moreLess
"So good we have been vsiting for the last eight years.…"
So good we have been vsiting for the last eight years, at least once a year, and our girls always look forward to the now annual visit. There is always a warn and friendly welcome and nothing is too much trouble for Cheryl and Roger to make the stay special. This is a unique family run holiday farm and we would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with children. The girls especially enjoy the animal feeding and games room, plus activities organised by Cheryl. The hot tub is a big bonus.Read moreLess

"Really relaxing family friendly cottages in beautiful countryside with kids activities…"
I can't wait to go back...I love it so much it's going to be my 4th visit in a year! I don't normally write reviews as it's so hard to find the time with a baby and a toddler. However I really appreciate other people's reviews on child friendly places to visit so I'm going to share this little gem....in not too many words I hope:
- well equipped cottages child friendly cottages with high chairs, cots stairgates etc
- own hot tub (sooooo nice!)
- washing machine and clothes horse / washing lines (sounds daft but you do end up using them!)
- donkey rides and animals to feed (guinnea pigs, rabits, alpaca, chickens, goats, sheep). The kids love these.
- seasonal activities for the kids, again the kids love these.
- play barn with lots of toys & dvds you can borrow.
- nice gardens with swings & slides
- lovely owners
- baby sitting
They have thought of everything, it's such a lovely relaxing place, I could move in tomorrow.
There's also all the other stuff nearby normally associated with a nice family holiday in Devon (it's pretty close to Exmoor National Park and the beaches).Read moreLess
"Fantastic Family Holiday!…"
We spent a week at North Hayne Farm Cottages in October 2014 and we absolutely loved it! As a family with 3 little ones (4, 5 and 7 years old), we honestly couldn't have wished for anything better. Cheryl, Roger and their family are the most amazing hosts, making us feel so welcome and at home. They unpacked our shopping before we arrived, provided delicious cream teas on arrival, but most of all gave us their attention, time and care and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was immaculate, warm and cosy and had everything we needed and more. The facilities on site were brilliant - the animal feeding became an indispensable part of each day, and we enjoyed the quiz trails Cheryl had created and the craft activities she put on as well. There are plenty of places to take the children to every day off-site, all within 30-40 minutes drive - a particular favourite for us was the Big Sheep. The children are already begging to return and I'm sure we will soon!Read moreLess
"Great place for young and old…"
Three generations of us arrived for our first stay in October 2014. What a fantastic place, Oliver loved feeding the animals and riding on the donkey and grooming the goats. A great play room for those not so good days with toys to keep all ages amused. When the children are in bed what better way to unwind than in the hot tub with a glass of wine, not even a little rain spoils that!!! The icing on the cake is the warm friendly welcome from Cheryl, Roger and farmer Reg!!! We'll definitely be back,Read moreLess
"Wonderful place to spend quality family time together…"
What a perfect place to holiday! North Hayne is ideal for all ages and offers so much more than just a self catering holiday.

From the moment we set foot on site we were greeted with a warm welcome, cream tea and all our pre-ordered shopping had been put away for us. Our cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed and nothing was too much trouble. There is plenty to keep young and older visitors entertained with the play barn, play areas, private hot tub, on-site beauty and relaxation treatments and of course the fabulous farm! My four-year-old raced out the door to take part in feeding times and she even got to feed and walk the lambs and have a donkey ride every morning! To see her face every day, the excitement in her eyes and her confidence grow, was worth it alone.

Cheryl and Roger, along with Jenny and Reg, are fantastic hosts and you are able to engage in as much or as little as you wish during your stay. We were fortunate with the weather too and were able to explore parts of Devon we had not been able to before on our previous visits. One particular highlight was the boat trip from Ilfracombe where we saw baby seals and porpoises. We also spent some beautiful days on the beaches at the Tunnels Beaches, Saunton Sands and Woolacombe where time seemed to slow down as we paddled in the sea and rock pooled.

North Hayne Farm Cottages is set in such a great location to explore North Devon. Right on the edge of Exmoor, beaches just half an hour away and if you want some city life, Exeter and Plymouth aren't too far either. You can also venture across the border into Cornwall easily enough. We have already booked to return for our summer holiday next year. I have one very excited daughter who is already counting the number of sleeps until she can go back. The perfect sign of a great holiday.Read moreLess
"Perfect Farm Holiday…"
We visited for the first time during Easter school holidays 2014 after hearing good things about the venue. We stayed in the Miss Tiggywinkle cottage with a double, twin & single room, so sleeping 5. You could also fit a travel cot in the double room.

The farm experience was great. The owners really go the extra mile, genuinely making everyone feel very welcome. Twice a day there are opportunities to feed the animals (goats, pig, donkeys, alpacas, rabbits, guinea pig, chickens and ducks). Each morning after the feeding session, the children went on a donkey ride and at the end of the day there was a different activity each day, eg goat grooming, guinea pig cuddles. If you get the timing right, there is also the opportunity to bottle feed lambs up to 3 times a day, which was perfect timing with Easter. There were also Easter activities run by the owners, eg making chocolate cornflake nests, an egg hunt and a visit by Big Yellow.

Having previously looked for a farm cottage where your children can get properly hands-on, this is the best I’ve ever come across. This isn’t a working farm that offers some cottages, here the cottages with the farm experience is their sole purpose and they certainly excel in delivering a wonderful experience.

The cottage was well presented and spacious with a modern finish. The private hot tub was a luxurious feature. The private garden area with table/chairs was also a good feature. The cottage is fitted with stairgates at each end of the staircases. The cottage had wifi which was great as the mobile signal was very weak. The only thing we would have improved was the shower could have been a bit more powerful.

We visited with a 6 and 3.5yr old. Both really enjoyed it. Other guests had younger and older children. There is plenty of outdoor space for the children to play and visit the animals whenever they like. The local area has plenty to offer with the coast, Exmoor, tourist attractions (Diggerland was a good but would avoid in peak season).

If you are thinking of going in school holidays plan ahead, at least a year! These cottages are very popular and now we know why! Totally recommend!Read moreLess

"Wonderful place for families to holiday!…"
Wonderful place for family holidays!
We are just back from a four night break at the cottages - our 5th visit! It is a truly fab place for a holiday, with so much to do both onsite and around north devon. Cheryl and roger (the owners) make so much effort to make all guests feel welcome and special, nothing is too much trouble. We stayed there with friends for new year 2 years in a row before our son came along, and have been 3 times since with our 3 year old, and it always delivers! The cottages are gorgeous, super clean, well equipped and scenic. The farm offers feeding of animals every morning and evening, plus a great play barn and games room. Morning donkey rides are the icing on the cake for the kids, while the hot tubs do the same for the grown ups The setting is beautiful, and makes a wonderful holiday for children of all ages, couples looking for a quiet getaway and groups of friends/families. It is brilliant for families with kids as they provide stair gates, baby monitors, step up stools, booster seats, high chairs, travel cots- everything you could need, and at no extra cost. They even take supermarket deliveries in advance of arrival and pack it all away for you-so many great touches. We shall definitely be going back!Read moreLess
"Another relaxing week at North Hayne Farm…"
A great holiday that caters for kids and grown ups. We have had two fabulous holidays here and came back feeling refreshed each time. I love the fact my Internet shop has been dealt with on arrival and you can also pre order veg boxes and local, produce as well. I had a cooking embargo so we ordered in some delicious locally produced ready meals. All facilitated by the thoughtful owners.

The hot tubs in most of the cottages, the therapist that comes to your cottage to provide treatments and the safe, no traffic environment keeps people going back time and time again. A real find, and at affordable prices too.Read moreLess
