"Cannot recommend this place highly enough…"
This is a great family holiday. As well as the animal feeding there's the outdoor swimming pool, the outdoor toys, loads of toys in the cottages, and that's before you've even got to Tracey's scones.
It's as relaxing as a holiday with small children can ever be. We had an amazing time despite the three month old baby waking every 3 hours overnight. It's the sort of place you are happy to be in even if it chucks it down on your holiday.
I could go on more, but there's always the chance it will be fully booked next time I want to go, so I won't.Read moreLess
"Fabulous hands on farm stay - great for the whole family…"
We first arrived at North Bradbury Farm middle of the evening, negotiating unfamiliar
country lanes in the dark and rain. We were slightly unsure of where we were until we saw
the sign - 'Beware Free ranging animals and children' which made us smile and relieved
we were on the right tracks!
Chris and Tracey were so welcoming, and showed us straight to the cottages, where tea
and coffee facilities plus the most delicious homemade scones were all waiting for a
delightful late cream tea. The cottages are bright and airy - a perfect blend of rustic farm
cottage charm with a contemporary twist. They are perfectly equipped for families, the
children immediately started exploring the toys, whilst we set to unpacking, and putting
some dinner on. After the children were settled in bed, the cottage was a lovely setting for
a romantic evening by the log burner with a DVD and some local scrumpy!
The next morning, we were up early and ready for farm feeding. Farmers Chris and Tracey
have a wonderful rapport with children. My four have very little experience of animals, but
under Farmer Chris’ guidance straight away they were confidently feeding up, handling the
dogs and horses. It felt like being part of a real farming family!
After feeding we set off to explore Devon. The farm is perfectly located to access some
beautiful beaches and Exmoor. Tracey goes out of her way to ensure all her guests get the
very best out of their stay, and was full of recommendations of where to go, where to eat,
fabulous country walks, etc. On Tracey’s suggestions we went off to a local farmer market,
came back laden with goodies, and then enjoyed cream tea in a gorgeous chocolate box
village before a stunning drive along the coast.
The cottage is also the perfect getaway for foodies. I stocked up on my spices at the local
market just a short drive away, and we visited the North Bradbury Farm shop and left with
lots of lovely meat to fill the freezer and some of Tracey’s delicious home cooked meals so
we didn’t have to cook on arrival back home. Tracey is an accomplished cook was happy
to share lots of tips with me.
Sunday, the kids had energetic fun on the adventure playground - they especially loved the
zip wire over the stream! After breakfast, the children went out riding on Pudding and
Whisky. Two of the children were new to riding, we all struggled a bit with the mud, but had
a superb time, and the memories will last a lifetime. Chris and Tracey inspired so much
confidence into the children, they didn’t think twice about getting stuck into everything on
the farm, and learned so much! We were all rather sad to leave, and hope to return again
very soon.Read moreLess

"North Bradbury farm is a special place, we were really…"
North Bradbury farm is a special place, we were really lucky to find it. We would highly recommend it for a family holiday no matter how young your children.
The accommodation is immaculately clean with stylish interiors, well stocked with everything you would have at home. The pictures on the website don't do it justice. The farm offers a unique opportunity for children to help feed the animals including pigs, sheep, ducks, goats, chicken and ponies. We have a one year old and he got loads out of the experience. He was making sheep noises by the end of the week. Children get up close with the animals, for example they see every stage of a duck's life from egg to tiny ducklings to grown ducks. You can then sample the duck and other farm produce in the delicious, restaurant quality meals, prepared by Tracey. Another unique experience - a delicious three course meal while you can hear your baby snoring away (hooked up to a baby monitor) in your cottage which is a few steps away from where you dine. You can also buy farm produce in the farm shop. It's well stocked with frozen meals which are again home made and very tasty.
The farm also has a lovely heated outdoor pool. It's really warm, there's no scrimping on the heating and the views are beautiful - surrounded by fields.
There is loads to do in North Devon and Chris and Tracey will offer you lots of ideas tailored to the age of your children.
Another benefit of North Bradbury Farm is that you only ever have one other family staying (there are only 2 cottages to rent) so the pool is never busy and the farm feeding is a small affair where all children can get involved.
All this adds up to a superb experience but the icing on the cake is that Tracey and Chris have oceans of energy and clearly enjoy this beautiful farm they have created entirely themselves. They will make you feel very welcome and make your stay very special.
My only hesitation in recommending North Bradbury Farm is that I don't want too many people to know about it for fear we won't be able to get booked in when we want to return!Read moreLess
