"Perfect break for families of all ages…"
Choosing a family holiday with two toddlers is always a challenge but the facilities and location of Greenwood Grange resulted in a relaxing break for all 4 of us. So much so we’re already planning our return later this year.

We choose to spread out in a three bedroom cottage (casterbridge) rather than a 2 bed and it was a good decision: the living areas were much larger and we had our own private garden. The cottage was fully equipped – I was tragically overjoyed to have a washing machine! The facilities onsite are fantastic too: two full sized tennis courts, indoor swimming pool, games room (pool, bar billiards, enclosed area for babies/toddlers) trampoline, swings and play yurt filled with walkers, dolls, puzzles, duplo, books, tea set etc. There is also a fantastic allotment garden there where you are welcome to pick any vegetables or fruit that are ready. Oh and resident chickens for your morning eggs.

The week we were there – outside peak season- only a handful of cottages were booked so whenever we wanted to use facilities we had them completely to ourselves. It just worked that we were out in the morning when other people were using them and “in” during the afternoons when everyone else was out. I can imagine in the height of summer, especially during a wet spell, facilities would be far busier.

Location wise GG is in a fantastic spot to explore Weymouth and the surrounding area. Weymouth beach was about 20 minutes drive from the house and we spent most mornings there, quick picnic on the beach and then a quick drive back to the cottage whilst DC slept. Dorchester is only about 10 minutes and down to Corfe and Swanage took about 45.Read moreLess

"Fantastic place for families – so much to do onsite!…"
On arriving here, this is what eldest child said: 'I think I'm in a dream mummy, but I keep pinching myself and I'm awake'. It sounds a bit cheesy written down, but the comment just about sums up our feelings about our weekend at Greenwood Grange. It's got EVERYTHING! Most of the cottages are set around a lovely courtyard. The houses are comfortable, clean and neat and worked on a beige/white palette, but not so designer-perfect that you're afraid the children will spoil something.

If you bring enough food, you could easily stay on site the whole weekend as there's plenty to do. The tennis courts are well kept and there's a play area to one side with a trampoline, play yurt, swing and other sit-ons. The indoor swimming pool is really lovely and warm, so it's perfect for children and even on a busy weekend we had it to ourselves each time we went. There's also a large indoor games room with table tennis, pool and bar billiards and lots of toys for smaller children in an adjoining room.

You can walk around the gardens, say hello to the Shetland ponies, take a walk in Thorncombe Woods (just outside the main gate) or take the footpath from the top of the hill along a bridlepath.

There are fresh eggs from the chickens and guests can borrow dvds and help themselves to produce from the vegetable patch. We made a delicious rhubarb crumble and picked some chard to go with some omelettes.

We came back having had lots of family fun but also feeling really relaxed. We'll definitely go again.Read moreLess
