We spent a lovely week at Gitcombe this summer. Gloriously peaceful location with very good accommodation and great facilities, including indoor and outdoor swimming pools which were rarely used by anyone else. There is loads to do in the surrounding area, with our best days out being crabbing and a trip on the steam train.

Had a lovely holiday at Gitcombe with two pre-schoolers. Gorgeous part of the UK, near beaches, farms, and towns like Dartmouth and Totnes. Great facilities on site including indoor and outdoor swimming pool, which went down a storm with our two pre-schoolers. Closest thing we've had to a holiday with small children and no hired help / grandparents! Only down point, is think it is on the expensive side but even so highly recommended and I hope we'll be back.

A really great hideaway in South Devon but with all you want on your doorstep - outdoor hut tub, indoor and outdoor pool and fab soft play. Also an outdoor playground and gorgeous country walks on your doorstep - and even better the monitor works from the cottages while using all of this so can enjoy with and without baby. Woodburning stoves with unlimited logs. And its really close to Dartmouth where there's fab dining out and Totnes where the shops are really quirky and fun.

Very hard to find down narrow high hedged lanes, so you really feel tucked away. Lots of facilities, the indoor and outdoor pool, and the tennis court.
But for 5* I found our 'house' grubby, it needed a good scrub, not up to the standard expected at the price.
Good pub within walking distance.Read moreLessMumsnetter bluesky

WE have stayed here twice and have been very impressed both times. The cottages are very comfortable with stylish contemporary decor adn furnishings etc. The pool is great we often hads it to ourselves. There's alos an outdoor pool, play area, sauna and hot tub and indoor small soft play area. The location is great in a secluded valley. Its not cheap though. LOts to do in the surrounding area from beaches adn coves to steam trains, farms zoos adn dartmoor.

So gorgeous that we went back within the year. I am torn between wanting this place to be a secret and wanting everyone to know! DD went swimming for the first time in the lovely indoor swimming pool, which we invariably had to ourselves. Cottages are very comfy and swish, but don't book the Hayloft (studio) if you have a baby - you really need a separate bedroom. Beautiful part of the world. No real complaints.
