Gardener's Cottage - White Heron Properties

We stayed for 2 nights in Gardener's Cottage over the Easter holidays and had a wonderful time. The Cottage is part of a large estate with the fantastic Colluquy(which sleeps up to 25) at the centre. We were able to use the outdoor pool belonging to Colluquy for a couple of hours in the morning - surprisingly bearable for early April and would def be a bonus if you were to rent the cottage in the summer. Gardener's Cottage comfortably slept our family of 5 with 2 double bedrooms and one with twin beds. We were met on arrival by James who looks after the cottages and was available to help us throughout our stay. There was also a much welcomed food package of all the basics along with a delicious sponge cake and basket containing Jo Hilditch's blackcurrent jam and cassis. Jo owns White Heron properties and runs a blackcurrent farm up the road.

The cottage was cosy, really comfortable and well equipped but best of all has an enormous garden. We enjoyed breakfast out on the patio and my 3 children ran out into the garden on our arrival and hardly returned. They were delighted to find it meandered down to a wood at one side and a rabbit-filled orchard at the other. The lawns were large enough for games of football and rounders and we enjoyed some great walks out into the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed a day out at Hay-on-Wye but spent the rest of the time chilling at the house with the kids enjoying the beautiful gardens.
