"Brilliant; Brilliant; Brilliant!!!…"

A perfect place for us and our toddler. The cottage (Rose) was lovely! Very secluded and quiet. The great thing about Bosinver are the additional activities... Animal feeding in the moring, pony riding, kids club, inside playbarn, adventure playground and toddler play area not to mention the new indoor swiming pool! Our son absolutly loved our week there and cannot wait to see Farmer Dave, Pat and Helen again!

"Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Perfect holiday for us and our 2 year old…"
19-May-2013
This was our first stay at Bosinver with our 2 year old daughter. We stayed in Hydrangea which was beautifully decorated and overlooked a field - an ideal, peaceful location. My daughter loved feeding the animals every morning with Farmer Dave (fantastic with the children), playing in the Play Barn, exploring the woods and swinging on the zipwire with her Daddy. One afternoon we did the Wild Kids session with a lady called Tatum (excellent at what she does and brilliant with the kids) and went off exploring the fields and woods at Bosinver. When we return next year, we will have the added bonus of the indoor swimming pool so we will hardly need to leave Bosinver all week! Bosinver is also an ideal location to visit Cornwall.

Our little girl (19 months) absolutely loved our stay at Bosinver. It was recommended to us by a colleague with teenage kids, who have been going for years. It could not have been recommended any higher, and we were not disappointed!! Swings right outside our back door (we stayed in Polclay), feeding the animals every morning, soft play barn for wet days... I could go on! We only left the farm for an afternoon at mevagissey beach, borrowing a windbreak from Bosinver of course! I think that's our holiday plans sorted for the next few years! Can't wait for the pool to open :)

We had a fantsatic week in Bosinver. We booked unsure if the promises of quality on the website would be real, and they really didn't dissapoint. We generally don't go back to holiday locations, as we always like to try new places, however on day 2 we were talking about booking again already.
Our children absloutly loved the holiday, they enjoyed; the gruffalo hunt, lake, feed run, play barn, riding the ponies and the outside play area.
Us adults thought the accomodation was superb, we stayed in Well Close! We'll definetly be back again!Read moreLessMumsnetter AndrewL100

"Seven days of sunshine - whatever the weather…"
02-Apr-2013
We were lucky enough recently to spend a week at the beautiful and inspiring child-friendly farm cottages at Bosinver.
We stayed in a cottage called Pentree. Each cottage is the epitome of sophisticated, rustic charm. Pentree used to be the carthouse on the farm, but now has a granite stone fireplace, wood burner-style fire, large double bedroom, twin with en-suite, family bathroom and open-plan kitchen, dining area and living room.
All of the cottages are detached and dotted around the grounds, so there’s no chance of being overlooked, let alone other people waking up the kids or them being the noisy neighbours.
Just outside the cottage is the play barn – just one of the features of Bosinver that caters for every child’s wants and needs.
Other magic moments include splashing in muddy puddles, hand feeding ducks, rolling down grassy hills, picking daisies – and that’s just the adults rekindling the child inside.
You are guaranteed to have the quality time away with your kids you dream of. It is impossible not to relax the moment you arrive and soon you’ll feel the magic that makes Bosinver a truly special place to be for all families.
The little village of beautiful Cornish cottages is designed with children in mind, which means they have the time of their life feeding the animals, exploring the woods and fishing in the lake, while you have no excuse to do anything other than have fun with them.Read moreLessMumsnetter ClareKB

Bosinver is a very special place. We have had a lovely holiday. The accommodation was amazing - such a high standard and spotless on arrival. The owners are delightful and helpful. The animal feeding was a daily delight and the facilities all round the site are of a high standard. I would recommend Bosinver to families - children will thoroughly enjoy themselves and the parents get to relax and enjoy too. A wonderful place.

Such a shame. Booked after reading such lovely reviews. Visited with my 2 young children, looking forward to relaxing break. Forgot and was not reminded that we were expected to pay for our electric via meter in accomadation. Was woken up in the middle of the night, in complete darkness by screaming children who were used to night light. Meter had run out, tourch not working!! Had no change, tried to contact owner, no success. Managed to speak to him in the morning, was extemely rude. Apologised later but holiday was already ruined.

"A magical visit to Bosinver…"
28-Dec-2012
This was our 5th visit to Bosinver and has been the most amazing yet.We decided to have our family Christmas holiday in Lowen, Bosinver's new eco-home,and it was a truly magical experience. The house is incredible and, in our opinion, inspiring. The kitchen has every utensil and piece of equipment that you would need(I didn't need to pack kitchen scales and food processor as they were already there!). The large open plan lounge was perfect for cosy evenings with the whole family(aged from 73yrs to 6yrs) and the log burner kept us warm whilst we chatted and relaxed. The hot tub became a favourite with us and added to the luxurious feeling of Lowen. The children were perfectly entertained with activities such as animal feeding, pony rides along the driveway and zip wiring!Bosinver offers more than beautiful accommodation and surroundings. The owners, Pat and Dave and their team do everything they can to make your stay as special as possible- they really go the extra mile. We've loved our stay in Lowen so much we've rebooked again for next year! It really is eco luxury at it's finest

"2nd visit and can't wait for 3rd!…"
08-Oct-2012
Couldn't resist adding my own review on here to bring it up to a round 80!
We've just returned from our 2nd visit to Bosinver having stayed in Coliza (the cottage in the picture) for 2 weeks. We worried it might be a bit long, but could easily have spent another week with the amount of things we wanted to see/places we could visit again (lots of places offer the chance to pay once and then get free entry for a wk or even a year).
Farmer Dave, Pat and Helen create such a welcoming atmosphere - they recognised my 2yr old from the year previously!
They are understandably proud of the 70% return rate, our first week there was the same week we'd gone last year and there were 2 other families who we had met there last year.
We're going to book again v soon to return next year - having seen the foundations of the indoor pool hoping to have a dip next year!Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

"Farmyard fun and so much more!…"
23-Sep-2012
My husband and I have been together for ten years and our only UK holiday prior to visiting Bosinver had been a particularly wet and miserable visit to Scotland. So it was with much trepidation that we booked our week in Cornwall with our little boy (18 months), deciding that we didn't want to face airport queues, delays, lost baggage etc with a little one.
From the moment we arrived at Bosinver we knew we'd made the right decision. We felt immediately at home in Rose Cottage, a very secluded spot, lovely decor and a really cosy cottage feel. We had traveled for 6 hours, so got little man off to bed and opened a bottle of wine to toast our first evening and husband ate 90% of the delicious cream cake we found in our fridge on arrival!
Up early, which gave us time to play with the toys thoughtfully provided in the cottage, before heading out to explore the play barn and walk the short distance to Polgooth to buy some supplies for lunch. (note; the path was a bit churned up following the wet summer we've had, so we struggled a bit with the buggy, but it was manageable).
We spent all of our first day exploring Bosinver, we tried out the big slide and zip wire, found the Grufulo in the woods and had fun on the trampoline and in the play park. Our little boy was thoroughly exhausted and in bed by 6pm!
The rest of the week followed a similar pattern; up in time to feed the ducks, chickens, goats and sheep, collect the pony from the field in the mornings, then out to a local attraction in the afternoon (of which there are many). We visited the Monkey Sanctaury near Looe, the Eden Project, The Seal Sanctuary, Gweak and Lappa Valley. We also spent time on the beach.
Pat and farmer Dave are excellent hosts, quietly attentive to your needs and requirements, lots of useful information provided in the cottages and always ready to offer advice on places to see and things to do. You get a real feeling that they really care about their guests and this results in Bosinver being a wonderful place to stay.
We are not the type of people who like to return to the same place year after year and between us have clocked up quite a few stamps in our passports, however, Bosinver has changed that and we are already looking at dates to return next year.
This is a real family destination, where children and adults can share a sense of fun, relaxation and total enjoyment!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

We have just got back from Bosinver. We have really enjoyed our stay. Our boys (6 and 2) had lots of fun - pony rides, feeding the animals each day, running around the fields and woods, following the Gruffalo trail, doing the welly hunt, playing in the soft play barn,in the lovely pool, playing tennis - the list goes on and that's before we went out to the local beaches and area.
We've come home feeling like we've all had a holiday - relaxed parents and happy children.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

What a fantastic site and a fantastic holiday! This was our first holiday with our 5 month old son, we stayed in Rose cottage which was perfect for us, quiet and secluded yet accessible with parking directly outside. The cottage had everything we needed for our son like highchair, cot, microwave and the layout of the cottage was ideal for him with lots of space to roll around and play, small bedroom and perfect outdoor terrace for us to enjoy a glass of wine after he went to bed. The setting is idyllic, Pat and Dave are very friendly and helpful and we had a very relaxing holiday. I would strongly recommend Bosinver!

"Great for the whole family…"
20-May-2012
This is my first ever review and following our trip to Bosinver I felt compelled to write one. This was our first family holiday with our 2 year old and brand new 8 week old and everything about it met our expectations.
It's set in beautiful surroundings and was amazing to look out the window and seeing the ducks doing they're daily jog around the field and the rabbits doing there thing.
The accommodation was small but filled with the essentials you need and a whole load of conveniences for children which made packing a lot lighter and a whole lot easier. You can also hire things like bed guards which for us was an essential.
We took our dog with us as well and you don't find many places that allow dogs and are still modern, comfortable and a little bit special. They provide a kennel so we could do the non doggy things without having to worry.
Location wise, it's well placed to get to both coasts with loads to do- we even did the jaunt to Lands End.
The daily visit to farmer Dave left our son with a much keener interest in animals and lots of laughs as he fed them and all the staff are really helpful with tips on best walks with buggies and dogs etc.
All in all we had an amazing timeRead moreLessMumsnetter roothan

We have just spent 5 days at Bosinver and had a brilliant time. We stayed in the Farm House which sleeps 12 as we had both sets of grandparents with us as well. The accomodation was lovely, very clean and well furnished, they had thought of everything. There was a softplay barn for children, plus outdoor play areas and weekly pony rides. Every morning the children (and adults) could feed the chickens, ducks, sheep and goats with Farmer Dave. Our 2 year old had such a lovely time that she cried most of the way home! We will definitely be visiting again.

"We have just returned from our fourth visit to Bosinver…"
31-Oct-2011
We have just returned from our fourth visit to Bosinver over the last 2 years. Bosinver was recommended to us by friends and subsequently we have recommended to friends and family. We have also stayed there with friends and family - sometimes in cottages next door to each other and sometimes together in a large cottage. I'm playing house bingo as there are so many lovely cottages to pick from I want to stay in a different one everytime! Our children who are 5 and 2 just adore Bosinver, and they cry when we leave. They have even asked if we can bring our cat next time so that we don't have to return home! This was the first time we had gone during school holidays. Previous visits have been off peak, so of course prices go up in school holidays and visits to places of interest can be busy, but as our son has just started school this is something to get used too. Nevertheless, what was different this time for us at Bosinver was the extra activities that were put on to accomodate this peak season. There was the Wild Kids club which involved lots of games and bonfire building in the woods, as well as a halloween party. I cannot fault Bosinver, the cottages are stunning, the setting is beautiful, you can walk to the local pub and our children talk affectionately of Farmer Dave and we have already booked up for next year (in another different cottage of course!).

"This summer we visited Bosinver for the second time.…"
11-Oct-2011
This summer we visited Bosinver for the second time. It's been a couple of years since our last visit, and our 4 dcs haven't stopped going on about it! So we booked a week for the end of August, and went all out and booked their new eco friendly house.......
Oh.... my.....God... (to coin a phrase!) - what an amazing house!! Done out to the most amazing spec, this place will totally take your breath away. It's totally eco friendly - the walls are made of hay! - and it's self sufficient! The decor is beautiful and the house is full of things you want to take home with you!
The dcs were so excited, they were fit to burst. They all wanted to move in and dsd2 asked why we couldn't commute between Cornwall and London!! Everything has been thought of to ensure you have everything you need. I'd like to say it's a home from home, but my home looks nothing like this! Four bedrooms, means it's perfect for large families (my dcs changed rooms every night!), or for a couple of families, so you can share the cost.
Bosniver in itself is utterly perfect as far as we are concerned. There are twenty cottages in 30 acres of land, with stunning views of the cornish countryside - your dcs can roam around without any worries about their safety - there is a fab zip slide, a playbarn (for younger dcs than mine, but didn't stop them playing endless games in there!) and the highlight for my dcs was the heated outdoor pool. We had fab weather, but the water is so warm, I reckon you could go in even it was snowing.
DCs can feed the animals each day, and collect eggs (eggy bread everyday for us!!). They have a gruffalo trail this year, which little ones will love and pony rides once a week.
You could stay a week and never leave the farm, but equally there are some fab trips and beautiful beaches to explore. Amongst other things, we rode the camel trail between Wadebridge and Padstow (stopping for fish and chips at Rick Steins before cycling back - very reasonably priced I was surprised to see -Read moreLessMumsnetter JulesMumsnet

Bosinver is a really great place to go with kids. The cottages are the best we've ever stayed in and have everything you want as well as luxuries like White Company linen on the beds. There is loads to do and our children never want to go out for the day when we're there. We once stayed there for Christmas which was fantastic - everything laid on, Christmas tree - all decorated, chocolates and wine on arrival. It was a real treat. Would really recommend Bosinver to any stressed out Mums (and Dads) who want a rest.

01-Sep-2011
We stayed at Bosinver earlier this year for the first time and we all had a fantastic holiday. Our 3 children, aged 8, 4 and 1 all had a great time. The older 2 particularly loved all the outdoor space and the freedom to 'roam' around safely.
Animal feeding every day was great fun as was den & fire building with Nooney!
We also found the location of Bosinver ideal, there are many lovely beaches and places to visit within a short diatance.
We stayed in Well Close and found it a real 'home from home' which was spotlessly clean and well equipped.
As you can probably tell we loved it and we are booking up for the same time next year!

We spent an idyllic week at Bosinver in May, this was our second visit to the farm. Our first visit was amazing, and our second visit was simply brilliant and fantastic.
We rarely go anywhere twice but we're about to book our third visit for next year. It really is that good!
Bosinver has so much to offer, and everyday is different. Feeding the animals is an adventure everyday, our son wouldn't let us go out for the day until he'd fed the ducks, hens, sheep and goats. And as for the pony ride, he was in heaven!
Our 2 year old who can't understand why we simply can't go to see Farmer Dave and the team every weekend.
The cottages are wonderful and they are even better than they look on the website, can't sum it up in words, go find out for yourselves! But please, not when we want to go...

- animal feeding every morning and pony ride once a week (kids love it!)

- lovely grounds to explore
- locality to great attractions for the kids

The most important thing is my kids sleep so well whenever we go...we get the best sleep there!!
Only problem is leaving is so hard!

We have just returned from our first holiday at Bosinver. We knew that it would be good as we had already read lots of very positive reviews before going, but we were still very impressed with what we found....and honestly cannot think of one negative thing to say!! As others have said...Bosinver feels like a very special place and we felt that too! We stayed in hydrangea cottage and found it to be very clean, exceptionally well stocked and beautifully decorated with lots of lovely homely touches. It is nicely situated so that you don't feel like you are bothering anybody too much but near enough to all facilities; park, playbarn, swim pool etc. Our 3 girls (5 year old and 2 year old twins) thought they were in heaven.....freedom to walk with us without worrying about roads too much, animal feeding every morning, great parks, trampoline, really good soft play area (with gym equip for parents), pony riding, heating marshmallows on campfire and finding bugs (wild kids forest school in the woods-free!-and even the little ones could join in). I could go on but it has all been said before....basically it's a great place which I doubt could ever disappoint and I would highly recommend it without question!!!!

"I could honestly rave on and on about how fabuloys Bosinver is for an inordinate amount of time!…"
28-Jun-2011
Myself and my husband and our two boys aged 3 and 2 stayed at Bosinver for a week this June. I am trying to keep this review as brief as possible but I could honestly rave on and on about how fabuloys Bosinver is for an inordinate amount of time!
Our boys adored the animal feeding, the Playbarn was a firm favourite and truly inspired in any showers we encountered, the Gruffalo Walk and the zip-wire/adventure playground in the woods went down exceedingly well with adults and children alike! The toy box and child friendly accommodation meant anytime in the cottage was pleasurable and not littered with breakables etc that many holiday homes are.
My top fave has to be the Each Peach meals!! Being pregnant with No.3 I was keen to make this a 'proper' holiday with very minimal cooking and Rachel's meals ensured this! Homecooked and truly delicious (I cannot recommend the staek and ale pie or apple and passionfruit crumble enough!) and all in your freezer on arrival and very reasonably priced.
Added to all this the welcoming hosts, beautiful beaches and amount of things to do on the doorstep and you have a very happy family of 4 and a family of 5 who will be returning next Summer!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"What more can I say that has not been said…"
26-Jun-2011
What more can I say that has not been said about this place before? Not a lot really! It is amazing!
We (me, my husband and two daughters aged 5 and 18 months) stayed in Trerose cottage for a fortnight in June 2011 and halfway through, we booked up again for 2012 but to stay in Coliza (and not because we didn't like Trerose, but because our 5 year old wants to stay closer to the play park and more importantly, the trampoline!).
I really can't say anymore without repeating the great reviews below. The cottage was immaculately clean on arrival; Farmer Dave and Helen were amazing at the animal feeding sessions (my daugher IS his number one fan ;o) ); the facilities on site - parks, zip slide, trampoline, play barn, pool, games in reception - were fantastic, especially as the weather we experienced was very changeable. We had great fun on the Wellie Boot Trail, the Wild Kids Club on a Monday night is fun and educational, weekly pony rides are not to be missed and Farmer Dave, Pat & Helen are all really lovely and welcoming. We made some good friends too that hopefully we will keep in touch with and perhaps see again at Bosinver in the future.
My only criticisms are: the analogue baby listening devices supplied did not work (traditional Cornish cottage with solid oak doors maybe had something to do with it...); the cot in Trerose was far too small for our chunky 18 month old; the double bed wasn't the most comfortable I've slept in; we really could have been doing with having the floors mopped after the first week; but all of the other great points about Bosinver far outweigh these minor negatives in the grand scheme of things. Overall, a fantastic holiday and we can't wait to go back next year.Read moreLessMumsnetter mummy22dds

I cannot say more than all the other reviews below, other than this was our first time to Bosinver and we stayed in Higher Hill house with our 4 and 2 year old and it was amazing, stylish, modern accomodation. The house was fab all you could want, the pre ordered meals were delicious, the feeding of the animal, walks in the forest, fished in the lake with our little net with my son and generally had a great time! Especially in the playbarn whilst he played on the soft play, I ran on the treadmill, perfect... We absolutely loved the salad/herb garden where we picked our own every night for dinner. We did lots of trips out to the Eden Project etc and just found this place a little gem as well as the surrounding area and beach restaurants!

"An idyllic family holiday in a beautiful setting…"
05-Jun-2011
If you're looking for an idyllic family holiday in a beautiful setting where you can relive your childhood and watch your kids grow in to theirs - look no further!
Each year we come it just gets better and better, and now it's on our perpetual calendar along with Pancake Day, Christmas and Easter!
The cottages are stylish, individual and cosy with everything you need (kid's steps and cutlery, toy boxes, bath mats and super comfy beds with White Company linen for a proper night's sleep)
The only thing we travel with now is a few favourite bedtime books, bubbles and the mandatory kid's craft 'busy bag' for long waits in busy pub gardens... There's even a shed full (literally) of beach clobber, so no more bootfulls of stinky crabbing buckets & nets and sandy boogie boards. How thoughtful is that.
On your door step are some of the most beautiful and inspiring spots in Cornwall, but in all honesty you could hang up the car keys and immerse yourself in Bosinver all week and still not run out of magic moments.
There's treasure round every corner and if you let the wind take you (or should I say they kids!) there's never a dull moment...morning farm time is precious and a great way to swap stories with other likeminded folk. There's nothing like fresh eggs to start the day.
For us the super-heated outdoor pool in a clematis clad setting with an amazing changing room is priceless. Both our children have learnt to swim here - and are like fishes now.
We love the zip wire, big bendy slide, Forest School Kids Club in the woods, playing tennis, ping pong, stomping across the fields in search of wildlife and trail clues, the Gruffalo trail, picnics by the lake hearing the cuckoo, pony rides, BBQs, free range hens popping up in bushes, the bluebell lane down to the local shop for fresh pasties, the inspirational indoor playbarn, kite flying, the delicious fresh cream cake awaiting you on arrival.... it is hard to describe, you need to live the Bosinver dream to fully appreciate the magic...but each time we feel fully Bosinvered when we're deeply relaxed, lightly weather beaten and sun kissed, and all happy as Larry!Read moreLessMumsnetter KateMarks

Our first visit with our boys (nearly 6 and 4). We had a great tme. Stayed in Pentree which was in a great location by the play barn and the play ground. Boys loved the swimming pool in fact it was a struggle to get them to go anywhere else! Anywhere that supplies a fresh cream cake on arrival deserves a visit! We hope to go back again.

This was our first visit with our 2 year old and we loved it! We stayed in the smallest cottage, Rose, which was lovely. So much to do for the little ones, never a dull moment. Lovely food ordered in to cook from frozen so no need to cook every night and fresh eggs every morning. We'll certainly go back.

"You just have to go and experience it for yourself!…"
14-May-2011
We've just returned from another wonderful week, with thanks to Farmer Dave, Pat & Helen.
Last year we stayed in Pear and this year in Hydrangea. Both were immaculately clean with every possible need covered.
Lowen - the new eco build is going to be out of this world.
Our three year old daughter squeaked with excitement when we arrived this year. It's what children's holidays are all about. She adores Farmer Dave. He makes the activities special for all the children.
Our doggie sitters were very pleased with their beautifully fragrant 'Bosinver' liquid soaps, so glad that as well as having them placed for use in the bathrooms these products are now being sold as they make unusual pressies to take home.
You can't put a Bosinver holiday into words, nor capture its magic with photos and video...;...;...;...;...;...;...;you just have to go and experience it for yourself!Read moreLessMumsnetter blackntan

We have just returned from our 6th visit to Bosinver in 4 years - *that's* how good it is! Fantastic place to stay with children, absolutely everything is thought of, the facilities are second to none and Pat, Dave and Helen all make you amazingly welcome - it really feels like coming 'home' now. 09-Nov-2010
Based on the fantastic Mumsnet reviews of Bosinver, I booked Laburnam, one of the larger houses for our family October half term break. Bosinver thoroughly lived up to all the great reviews on here - it really is as good as they say! The location is great, near some spectacular beaches, the accommodation in the farm setting is amazing. The house was spotless with every little detail thought out, even the fresh cream cake and table all set for tea when we arrived. I was slightly concerned my boys (11 and 7) would be a bit "old" for a farm holiday, but they loved the games room, tennis court, Halloween party, etc etc. Do go, you won't be disappointed!

We went to Bosinver for a family gathering & what a gathering it was! All the children were highly entertained and the adults were very relaxed. The atmosphere is just great and a proper home from home. It was our second visit to Bosinver (definately not our last!) & we were welcomed like old friends. Pat & farmer Dave make it such a special place. Not to be missed!

07-Oct-2010
Well what can I say about Bosinver that hasnt already been said. It is FABULOUS... we are off to Bosinver in October for our 15TH visit. We have twin boys who we have been coming to Bosinver since they were just 2years old - now 8years old. The cottages are just great - home from home with lots of thoughtful touches - from the fresh cream cake on arrival to a fully equipped kitchen, all individually decorated and just beautiful.Really home from home. There is just so much to do at Bosinver with the playpark - a visit before bed is an absolute must!( After the rounds of goodnights to Chalky - the goat, Spike - the pigmy goat, Secret and Rupert - the horses)The swimming pool is lovely, a 'zip wire' and tunnel slide down the bottom of the fields and the lakes with the woodland walk and of course the playbarn. Pat Dave and Helen work so hard to make your stay so wonderful that nothing is too much trouble - they are like family now! This place really is a little peice of heaven and we cannot wait until half term to be back - as soon as we see the sign we are relaxing !!

04-Oct-2010
We've just come back from a fabulous week at Bosinver. Everything was simply excellent from the cottage to the scenery to the delightful animal feeding sessions with Farmer Dave. We had such fun, everything that childhood hollidays should be. Our toddler couldn't get enough of the animals, the hens even came into the garden for extra feeding! The play bard is superbly kitted out and the there are play areas galore, including a delightful lake and woodland walk. We had such a wonderful time, I'm booking a space for next year. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Giving everything a 10 simply isn't high enough praise! Thank you to the family for making us so welcome.Read moreLessMumsnetter janelouise

We stayed at Bosinver in August; it was the best holiday we'd had since having children (aged 4 and 2)! Our cottage, Veronica, was beautifully decorated, well equiped and very clean - plus a lovely garden space for the children. So much to do and see; we loved the playground, indoor barn play area and especially the lake and nature reserve. The pool was the temperature of a warm bath!! The children loved the daily animal feeding, egg collecting and pony walking. Pat and Dave are lovely hosts and gave some great recommendations for restaurants, beaches etc and the ready meals available on site made life very easy! All in all a real gem - we're recommending to friends but only after we'd secured our booking for next summer!!!

From feeding the animals every day with farmer Dave, to hanging out in the fantastic play barn each day was an adventure. With so many beautiful beaches on our doorstep and a huge array of places to visit within an hours drive we actually ran out of time to do everything we wanted.

The cottage was well equipped, very clean and private. The play equipment indoor and outdoor was a godsend for keeping her occupied. "Bosinver has everything you need…"
09-May-2010
We have just arrived back home after our 2nd holiday at Bosinver. Last year with shared the huge Farmhouse with relatives (11 of us in total ranging from 6 to 84!) and this year we just went with our 3 children aged 4, 7, and 9 to stay in Polclay cottage.
The cottage was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The welcome from Dave, Pat and Helen was as warm as always, and the kids were in the lovely warm outdoor pool before we had chance to unpack!
Bosinver has everything you need, so much so that we didn't need to take the roof box as we knew that buckets and spades, rubber rings etc would be there ready for us to borrow. No where is very far in Cornwall to visit and you can travel from one coast to the other in 30 minutes.
The kids love feeding the animals everyday and collecting the eggs. The playbarn is a fantastic place to sit and relax whilst the kids have loads of fun with the toys and the softplay equipment, and the games room with pool table, table football etc is a hit with older children. Adults and kids love pond dipping, woodland walks and playing on the zip wire and tunnel slide!!
We will be going back to Bosinver next year without a doubt, and I only wish we had discovered it years earlier!Read moreLessMumsnetter izzywizzywoo

We have stayed at Bosinver four times now each time in different cottages and all have been good. When we first booked I was concerned that we were going to a 'complex' but it is anything but. Although there are quite a few cottages on site, each feels very private. There is lots to do in Bosinver itself - animal feeding, wood land walks, good play areas - but also it is in a good location in Cornwall and is easy to get to both the North and South coasts. We are going back later this month and our four year old twin boys can't wait!

We have stayed at Bosinver twice and will definitely go back again. The cottages are lovely - well-equipped, comfy and cosy without being twee or chintzy. There is so much to do - DS (4) and DD (2) love feeding the animals, collecting eggs, riding the horses, doing the nature trail and letting off steam in the play barn. When you finally get round to leaving the farm there are loads of things to see and do nearby, to suit every taste, budget and weather conditions. We loved the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, idyllic days out at Looe, Polperro and St Ives to name but a few. I can't imagine being made to feel more welcome - Bosinver is a very special place and we can't wait to go back. I can't recommend it highly enough.

We visited Bosinver for the second time in June with our two daughters 4 & 2 yrs. Our 4 yr old spent the year waiting to meet Secret and Chalky again. The highlight of their day was feeding the animals. Farmer Dave, Pat and Helen were always there to assist you with any request and nothing was a problem. The frozen meals in reception were great for Mums on hols! Eventhough you were surrounded by many cottages the peace and tranquility there was amazing and you came home feeling relaxed. The facilities for the children were second to none. We are already planning our third trip.

We had a fantastic holiday at the farm. We stay in a wonderful cottage which we were lucky enough to get on a last minute cancellation. Laburnum looks out to fields with ponies and lots of greenery. Its really well equiped and has all home comforts - and more. We were blown away by its size and arriving there was a great start to a fab week in Cornwall.
As well as a lovely cottage we enjoyed the daily trips to the petting animals for feeding (so did our three year old). Farmer Dave is still talked about as are the horses and chickens! We also enjoyed dips in the warm outdoor pool and play trips to the fab play area.
Great location for exploring - Padstow was a lovely day out.

"A lovely family holiday in a charming, beautiful, safe and perfect location…"
12-Oct-2009
My husband and I and our 1 year old twins came to Bosinver in September for a week. We lucked out with the weather, it was in the early 20's in six out of seven days and we had no rain, so we had a fantastic holiday. We stayed in Pentree cottage, which is a bungalow and was perfect for us, with no stairs for our twins to fall down. It was tastefully decorated and spacious, even with my mother in law staying with us for 2 nights, it did not feel overcrowded. We fed the twins outside in the patio every night, which made feeding time more bearable and our daughters loved the playbarn which was right next door to our cottage. We also played in the outdoor area a couple of times, and the girls loved the animal feeding times although at 1 year old they are still too young to hold a fresh egg without smashing it!
We played tennis a few times and loved the court, it's in such a beautiful position on the farm and also we could not believe how warm and luxurious the swimming pool was. It would have been bliss if my husband had offered to babysit for an hour, brought me a mojito and then let me lie on the sunlounger by the pool soaking up the rays. In my dreams........
Pat, Helen and David were all really friendly and helpful in suggesting places to visit - we went to a different beach every day, our favourite was Polzeath which is on the North coast but only about 50 minute drive away. We also took advantage of the home cooked frozen meals you can buy at Bosinver, and had a huge Tesco delivery so we had everything we needed. A lovely family holiday in a charming, beautiful, safe and perfect location - will definitely consider going back next year, if we are able to get a booking!!!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"We are already counting the days until we return…"
09-Oct-2009
We have been back from Bosinver for a week now and are already counting the days until we return - currently stands at 189!
This was our first visit to Bosinver and it certainly lived up to, and beyond our expectations.
We stayed in Higher Hill which is a wonderful upside down house. Upstairs is a huge open plan living room/kitchen/dining room with a balcony from which you can watch the horses and rabbits. The house is equipped with everything you could wish for and is very private.
Every morning started with feeding the animals and bringing the ponies from the fields.Mummy loved the hand massage from the ducks every morning and Daddy learnt to make the best dippy eggs! The girls fell in love with the ponies and the ride on Tuesday morning was certainly one of the highlights of the week for them.We explored the local beaches etc everyday but also spent a lot of time in the grounds of Bosinver. The Zip wire is great fun - not just for the kids - and there are lots of lovely areas for exploring. We even managed a swim in the outdoor pool in October!Where else could we all run down the lane in our towels in october and no - one bats an eyelid!
Pat,Dave and Helen were wonderful hosts. They should be immensely proud of what they have achieved in Bosinver and the awards they have received are more than deserved. As a family we could not have wished for a more perfect holiday and just wish that we had discovered the Eden of Bosinver sooner!
We booked another holiday before we left to make our departure a little easier!
Thanks you so much to all the team at Bosinver and the Roberts family can't wait to see you all again next April XXXRead moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

From the moment we arrived we knew that we had made a great choice for our holiday destination. Our cottage was beautiful and very well laid out especially for our little ones. It had everything already there from glasses, saucepans and cutlery also special plates and cutlery for the children. It really is a home from home but nicer! From every window the views are stunning and every morning our 3yr old would rush to open the curtains to see the rabbits!
Bosinver have designed the perfect holiday for families, in the morning you can feed the animals then go for a woodland walk within the grounds. There is an outdoor play area,a ball park and a heated swimming pool. I can honestly say that this was a truly wonderful holiday and I do hope that we will return next year.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"We have just returned from our first holiday at Bosinver…"
26-Jul-2009
We have just returned from our first holiday at Bosinver and we were very sorry to leave.
Our children are aged 4 and 9 and I was a little worried my older one would struggle to occupy himself as a lot of the facilities appeared to be aimed at toddlers. From the first day he was making new friends and we hardly saw him as he went to the zip wire, played tennis, spent time in the indoor games room playing pool and table tennis.
Dave, Pat and Helen work tirelessly (but make it appear effortless)and nothing is too much trouble. Our cottage was beautifully presented, secluded enough to feel independent of the other cottages but close enough it was but a short walk to the animal feeding every morning.
My litle girl loved the pony ride on Rupert, collecting her very own egg each day and the heated pool (whatever the weather). There really is so much to commend I couldn't possibly mention everything - we had very happy, muddy, sleepy children every night.
Bosinver is an absolute delight!Read moreLessMumsnetter Jojomc

Pat, Dave and Helen are perfect hosts with nothing being too much trouble. The kids talk about Farmer Dave all year and regard Chalkey the goat as their pet animal. The cottages have all the amenities you would expect at home - the tesco on-line delivery was a great bonus this year. We have already booked next year and have extended the invite for our annual trip to Grandparents and Uncle who have jumped at the chance of sharing the magic of Bosinver with us. Children of all ages will find something to do - animal feeding, play barn, table football, pony riding, zip wire. A truly relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Worth the 7 hour car drive. We have recommended to friends who have also recommended other friends. Just book early if you need to go in school holidays.

"Bosinver Farm is a real treasure of a find.…"
06-Jun-2009
Bosinver Farm is a real treasure of a find. Yes the location is great and the cottages are beautiful, but it's the thought behind the whole set up that's truly inspirational and makes for a special family holiday for everyone - inlcuding MUM!
Pat and Dave have managed to cleverly combine all the usual compromises without compromising! Everything at The Farm is convenient, yet there's still plenty of privacy (you turn flower clad corners to reveal the pool / play areas); there's freedom yet safety; kids activities yet natural beauty.
Where else could you pop out in your PJs at 7 in the morning to borrow another DVD from The Dairy cupboard to keep the little ones amused whilst you sneak 5 more mins in bed. Or borrow a crabbing line and bucket just as you're heading out for a spontaneous crabbing trip to Mevagissey. Or collect fresh eggs for breakfast every morning. All in one place? It's subtle and definitely special.
Next time we'll pack much less kids stuff ( buckets, spades, woggles, boogie boards, toys etc ) Everything you need is intuitively placed ready and waiting for you.
So what would I change? Nothing really, but the addtition of a set of cheapie IKEA plastic plates, bowls and cups would be great, and for those odd rainy days, maybe a kids cooking box with bun tins, cookie cutters and egg recipes!!!Read moreLessMumsnetter KateMarks

Everything from the cream cake on arrival, to the meals in the freezer, where fantastic !! The cottage was so clean (I didn't need to use my anti bac wipes once !!), comfortable and well equipped. So lovely decorated with all mode cons.
Pat, David and Helen where all so friendly and made our little boy (2 in May) so at ease around the animals - his first time up close to a duck or chicken - that he didn't bat an eye and really enjoyed the experience.
I think he will talk about the 'jump, jump' trampoline and the playbarn for weeks to come.

26-Apr-2009
We've just got back from a week at Bosinver and I'm missing it already. It was a truly fab holiday. With a one year old and a three year old, it's been hard to find a holiday that actually feels like a break, but I feel like we really got a chance to relax and the children loved it.
We were lucky with the weather (glorious sunshine most days and no rain), but there is a great play barn for rainy days, and a games room for older kids. The highlight was the daily animal feeding and egg-collecting, which we all really enjoyed. The chance to have a pony ride was also a big hit with our eldest! The farm is set in beautiful surroundings - we watched buzzards during the day and listened to tawny owls at night. The playground was brilliant, with wooden tractors ro play on and a trampoline. Also, don't miss the woodland walk to the lake - very tranquil and pretty (we also had a go on the zip wire - great fun for older kids).
I highly recommend buying in a few of the frozen meals on offer - really delicious and the only night we didn't eat them was when we ordered in fish and chips (also very good). Little thoughtful touches, like the cream cake in the fridge on arrival, toy box in the cottage and the loan of buckets and spades etc, just helped to make it a home from home. It was our first time at Bosinver, but we'll be booking to go back again soon.Read moreLessMumsnetter Bombus

Our recent stay at Bosinver was by some distance the best self catering experience we have had, whether with children or without. If you have ever stayed somewhere and wondered "if only they'd thought of this" you will find that Pat and Dave at Bosinver already have. From when we first made contact to book the holiday and throughout our stay we were made to feel that their sole concern was for us to have as relaxing a holiday as possible. A lot of what is excellent you might come to expect at many properties these days - extremely well equipped kitchen, really comfortable furniture (and enough of it for a large group) - but it is the extras that made the difference: a freezer full of delcious, well priced and varied homecooked meals to save the bother of cooking, a big supply of children's toys and games to borrow, a huge dvd library, Pat and Dave on hand during the day to offer advice on where to go, or just to have a chat. The real highlight, though, for children and adults, is the daily animal feeding. To see our previoulsy shy three year old let "Dave the farmer" and Helen show her how to hand feed sheep, goats, hens and chickens, lead donkeys through fields, collect eggs, was a revelation. We really had to persuade ouselves each day to get out and visit somewhere, so easy would it be to just stay on the farm. A truly remarkable place, run by people with a genuine warmth and desire to share their idyllic surroundings.

We recently stayed at Bosinver with our 16 month old. It was our first venture into the world of "family" holidays so we were a little aprehensive - we're usually the backpacking/camping kind! We were throughly impressed, the cottage had everything we needed for the little one and there were plenty of extras to borrow. The indoor playbarn was great, and we loved the animal feeding. There really seemed to be something for everyone and while still having plenty of space to have time to yourself. We enjoyed having lots of outdoor space for walking, and it was great to see older kids having the freedom to explore in safety. I think we'll be joining the regulars and booking up for our next holiday!

What an extraordinary place. I work in Early Years and have a 5 year old boy. Just to give you an idea of how much he enjoyed it at Bosinver this Christmas, he has asked me if we can live there forever! What a wonderful world for children to finally feel free in, discover mole hills, rabbit holes, birds, climb stiles, splash in streams, get muddy wellies in the squiggy squoggy winter mud, share special quiet moments with William and Secret the kindest and friendliest of ponies, .... the experiences are never ending. It's a world where the word 'NO' doesn't exist anymore - just sheer glee and joy and a wonderful night's sleep.
Oh, by the way it's adult AND dog friendly as well! All the best comforts and what wonderful people: whether it be just for a friendly chat, advice, help, give you pointers on where to go, or what to do, Pat, Dave and Helen are such warm and welcoming people - really is a home from home ... maybe better?
Great first experience and we'll most certainly be back ... maybe with the Italian side of the family next.
Thanks.

Beautiful cottages all different and great care taken with each one. This will be our 5th year here and is fantastic for the children. They love each morning meeting farmer Dave and feeding the chickens and then walking across the field to get the two horses (pony rides are every Tuesday morning). The swimming pool is always warm and even tempting in the rain. They have a games room for older children and a new soft play barn for the younger ones, which is a great hit. There is so much to enjoy there and provides a great location for touring around (beaches apx 15 mins away by car) We have always enjoyed our holidays here and I am sure we will have many more!

Kids loved it! FANTASTIC play barn. They really enjoyed the animal feeding and the woodland walk. We stayed there in the easter holidays - it snowed!! But we still had a fab time and the conservatory was warm enough for us to chill out in at the end of the day. Well placed for exploring all the best cornwall has to offer.

20-Oct-2008
We recently returned to Bosinver to continue the adventure that first started in March this year.
It's the perfect setting for a countryside holiday and is an ideal base from which to explore this magnificent county of treasures.
Pat and Dave (plus helpers) are always welcoming, taking their time with the myriad of families that descend on Bosinver week-on-week.
We always make plans to do so much, run out of time and book to go back again (which is what I will be doing today)!
Go on..try it!Read moreLessMumsnetter SmudgeJ

"We've just got back from our 1st visit to Bosinver…"
21-Sep-2008
We've just got back from our 1st visit to Bosinver and OMG it so good. We (me, dh and ds) went with my parents and grandparents and stayed in Jacks Barn Cottage.
The cottage was really beautiful. It had gorgeous views of the countryside and there was always a rabbit or 10 outside the kitchen window. Huge living area with 3 sofas, large fireplace, tv and dvd player. 3 spacious bedroom - ground floor had 1 twin and 1 double with en-suite shower room and 1st floor had 1 double, 1 twin and main bathroom. the 1st floor rooms had big velux windows with amazing views.
My ds (2.7) loved it. He was a bit scared of actually feeding the animals but was happy to watch dh feed them. He loved Chalky the goat. The Playbarn was brilliant for him and the gym equipment in there was great for me and dh.
The outdoor pool was really warm, like getting into a bath, so we went in there a few times too and it was lovely.
There is an internet room where you can keep up with mumsnet. There is a small supply of buckets and spades, fish nets, body boards, tennis rackets and balls, wellies, BBQ's and windbreaks all of which you can borrow so you don't need to take them with you. They sell homemade frozen meals, eggs and honey from the reception too.
I would definitely recommend it to everyone. We will be going back next September and staying in Coliza and i can't wait. We all just loved it so much.Read moreLessMumsnetter Phoenix

13-Sep-2008
Our son aged 2.5 loved Bosinver. The animal feeding in the morning was a favourite as was the playbarn and outdoor heated pool.
Our cottage (Apple) was beautifully furnished, but it has to be said, small, with a slight smell of damp and nowhere to store our clothes. We would love to go back sometime, but may rent one of the larger cottages.
However everyone at Bosinver was very helpful and it was great to be able to borrow buckets and spades for the beach and make use of the DVD & Video library.
One tip, don't bother going to the Polgooth Inn nearby, it is pricey and the food is distinctly average.Read moreLessMumsnetter rookiemater

"Well it was because of the excellent reviews on here…"
17-Aug-2008
Well it was because of the excellent reviews on here that we booked a week at Bosinver...and we weren't disappointed.
We stayed in Rose, the smallest cottage on the farm, but it was plenty big enough for the 3 of us.
My son is 2 years 4 months old and it was perfect for him...yet it was just as perfect for the older kids. There were families there who clearly go to Bosinver year after year, and I think we may well become one of them. The highlight of the day was the animal feeding...my little man came out proudly showing us the egg he'd found (he later broke it but that's another story!) and the highlight of the week was his first ever pony ride. He learned the names of all the animals before we did and was very excited throughout.
Another really big bonus to Bosinver is the Play Barn...somewhere we could let him run around and let off steam in safety.
Farmer Dave, Pat & Helen were all fab throughout. They worked so hard to make sure the standards never slipped. They have an endless supply of things to borrow to make your stay that bit easier, and always find time to stop and help you plan your day when you're struggling to come up with things to do. They seem to genuinely care about each and every guest, and that's what makes the place stand out I think.
Unlike most of the other reviews on here we used Bosinver as a base to travel around Cornwall and particularly to Newquay. It was great for this purpose. It took less than half an hour and we passed the likes of Dairyland and Lappa Valley on the way. It's far enough out of the way to be quiet, yet close enough to the big roads to let you get where you're going.
Anyway - enough waffle...I'm off to book my next break at Bosinver, and I'd highly recommend you do the same...you won't regret it!Read moreLessMumsnetter Swadmum

"There aren't enough superlatives to adequately describe Bosinver, but I'll…"
05-Jul-2008
There aren't enough superlatives to adequately describe Bosinver, but I'll give it a try.
We took our four kids, 8, 6, 5 and 3 on the long trip from Surrey to Cornwall (broke down half way there, had to be towed all the way back, hire a people carrier and start the trip all over again) and arrived in the middle of the night. We were staying in Cherry Cottage, which was right at the edge of all the cottages and exactly what we wanted/needed. Very cosy and welcoming with three bedrooms and a lovely open plan kitchen and living room (with a box of toys for the kids!).
When we woke up in the morning, we looked straight out on to fields filled with rabbits grazing!.... it felt totally idyllic, and the kids were desperate to explore. They found a zipwire (where they spent a large part of the holiday), a lake and stream (complete with nature trail), acres of open space, a tennis court, games room, soft play barn (very useful when the weather isn't great), pool (which wasn't open, but I hear is lovely and warm), trampoline and playground..... and this was all before it was time to feed the animals!
Feeding the animals was a morning highlight, where the kids got to feed the animals themselves, collect eggs (for eggy bread!), then go and collect the horse and feed him too. One day a week all the children get a chance to have a pony ride which was greeted with squeals of more excitement. We had made plans to visit all sorts of attractions while we where there (I hear the Eden project is fab; we never made it), but the kids just wanted to stay at Bosinver. And who were we to complain.... it's an incredibly safe environment, and we could let the kids go out and play by themselves, or walk down to have a go on the zipwire, or wander off together to play endless games in the soft play barn. It gave them a level of independence they haven't been able to experience before and they revelled in it. As did we, as it gave us time to laze about in the cottage, drinking tea, eating the fabulous cake that was waiting for us on arrival, and just chatting!
When we did manage to drag the kids away from Bosinver, we found some amazing beaches, and it was so warm the kids even swam in the sea. (Bosinver had a supply of buckets, spades, fishing nets and boogie boards so no need to spend a small fortune buying your own). A highlight was eating fish and chips by the harbour in Megavissy as the sun went down.
The kids were desperately sad to leave, and keep asking if we can go back... and the answer is... 'Definitely...'Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

Fantastic! There is nothing that Bosinver can do to improve. No, really. It is perfect. So good, in fact, that we booked two more holidays with them before leaving for home. Farmer Dave, Pat and Helen make their guests so welcome. It really is a special place. It is toddler heaven, but I suspect our toddler will experience Bosinver every year for the rest of his childhood.

Just got back from a wonderful week with our 2 year old. The cottages are beautiful and there is so much to do on site we didn't get back in the car for 4 days! The day starts with feeding the animals, collecting eggs and leading the ponies, then back to cook the just laid egg for breakfast! There was also pony rides, pool, trampoline, highwire, woodland walk, sandpit, softplay barn and plypark. My little boy is an only child (although not for much longer) and if he wanted the company of other children we just popped down to the playbarn or playpark where there was always one or two other like minded families to amuse him! Despite sharing the site with 11 other cottages you still feel totally tranquil and secluded. The owners can not do enough to be helpful - from the tea and cake awaiting you in your cottage on arrival, to arranging events for your family, to providing homemade frozen meals (a godsend for tired mums) - they truly deserve all the praise that is heaped upon them. A magical place - I almost

The cottages are well kitted out and feel nice and homely - smart (but not precious with little ones around). The pool last year was wonderful - just the right temperature to keep the little ones in for ages! Bosinver is in a great location for beaches and other attractions.

We stayed a Bosinver Farm last June in Hydrangea Cottage. My mum came along and she shared a bedroom with my daughter they had their own seaside theme bathroom. We had such a wonderful holiday we booked again before we left along with 7 other cottages out of 12 odd also. The swimming pool was like a warm bath, indoor soft play barn with exercise equipment in (cross trainer etc) great if any bad weather. Cottage had a lovely conservatory which the ducks visited twice a day for a feed of biscuits, rabbits outside our window,we overlooking a field. We feed the ducks, sheep, hens, goat each day and took an egg home every time. My daughter still talks about Secret the horse which she got to ride and we are on a count down now to go back. Everything for children thought of from box of toys & videos in the cottage to beech things to borrow from the office. So much to do there , we were spoilt for choice. Perfect especially for toddlers and tag along Grannies( who said it was the best holiday she had ever had)

This year will be our 4th visit to Bosinver. Our first was Christmas 2005, followed by Oct Half Term for subsequent trips. Half Term at that time of year is great. There are lots of places still open, the on- site pumpkin competition is taken very seriously, and many families seem to come back year after year. Our 10 and 9 yr olds love the freedom that Bosinver brings, and in theory we adults could spend our whole holiday sitting in the conservatory watching the Shire horses!Last year we brought our then 6mth lab. pup who loved not only the horses but also the fab beaches with huge waves. We recommend: the local shop for Kittow's sausages and bacon, and great rolls and croissants;the nearby Asda for basics,The Blue Peter in Polperro, nice food and great local atmosphere, likewise the Ship Inn at Mousehole , with loads of history attached, and lastly Watergate Bay ,as suggested by Farmer Dave, for the best sunsets in the west. The Bosinver cottages are very well decorated & equipped and Pat, Helen and Dave are accessible, with lots of good advice about days out etc.I could go on and on but haven't even mentioned the egg collecting yet............

We have stayed at Bosinver for 2 years running which is very unusual for me especially as I like to go to new places. We were so impressed last year though and knew that it was a really good value for money holiday. The cottages are really clean and nice and it has a lovely welcoming family atmosphere. It's good for little children as they enjoy feeding the animals and riding on the ponies. There is an outdoor and indoor play area and of course if the weather is good you can just use it as a base and go off to the lovely Cornwall beaches. The Eden project is also nearby. Highly recommended.
