"Family friendly holiday…"
We have chosen to stay here for three years in a row. With four young children (age 11 to 2) we find it perfect as the whole family can really relax here. The gites are based around a large communal garden where all the children love the trampoline, the swings, the wendy house, sandpit etc and the games table etc in the playbarn are great when the children want to be out of the sun.
The separate secure area with the swimming pool is wonderful - and being out in the countryside it is quiet and calm. Everyone can really unwind and relax. the pizza evenings are a great way to meet everyone and make friends and Richard and his family go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
We can't wait to holiday there againRead moreLess
"Great family holiday with little ones.…"
I didn’t know what to expect when I booked to go to La Vendange. There were some many gites to choose from online but I knew they had to be child friendly so that’s what I searched for. Safe and child friendly meant hopefully a bit of time for mum and dad.
These gites offered so much more than I had hoped for. For a start they are set in the most beautiful countryside (surrounded by sunflower fields if you go in June). But although it is peaceful and rural you are only 10 minutes from the supermarket and 20 minutes from the market town of St Jean d’Angeley.
There are plenty of day trips and not just purely children things like the miniature boats or the wonderful zoo at La Palmyre but lovely towns like Cognac and La Rochelle that have a combination of things for the little ones AND things for grown ups. Cognac for instance has the most brilliant park with inflatables, pedaloes, trampolines and a wooden play park but a lovely town with lots of cafes for lunch too. La Rochelle is a picturesque harbour town with a great Aquarium.
I liked the feel of La Vendange. Most families will venture out during the day (leaving the pool free, quick tip!) but in the evening the children play together while the parents mull over life.
I loved this holiday and your children will love it, which as we all know means you will too.Read moreLess

"Superb! Proper family fun and enjoyment!…"
I was invited to stay at La Vendange, with my young son, by a friend of mine. My friend and her family (two girls, ages 2 and 4) love it so much that this year they booked for 4 weeks and asked if would like to join them for a few days.
At the gites there is lots of play equipment and my little boy loved the heated pool. He made new friends and played really happily so I was able to relax with my friend.
While we were there we visited the minature boats at Saint Savienne, the zoo at La Palmyre and the lovely beach and town at Saint Palais sur Mer. In fact, I think we had picnics almost every day.
Even though we were only there for a few days we both made some lovely new friends. I would thoroughly recommend these gites but you’ll need more than 3 days to visit everything!Read moreLess

"Child-friendly gites with lots to do with small children in rural France…"
We love it here. We have 2 girls age 4 and 6 and have been staying at La Vendange each summer since my daughter was newborn. It has been set up specifically for families with young children, its very safe, with an enclosed garden and two lovely (fenced off) heated pools (one's a toddler pool).
The gites all border a communal garden and 4 out of the 5 gites have a clear view of the garden.
In the garden there are swings, a slide, a trampoline, a shaded sandpit and a wooden Wendy house. Not forgetting the chickens and quails, all of which the children love.
There are plenty of lovely things to do in the surrounding area, enough to keep you and the children busy for 2 weeks if you wish (even if the weather inclement). Or just relax at the gites where the children will play with their new friends.
We loved the community feel of La Vendange. It's not oppressive but if you want to share a glass of wine with others in the evening or chat in the garden (while you push a swing!)there's normally someone to share it with.
The gites aren't luxury, but they're clean, cosy and rustic. You'll barely need to bring any equipment for babies as everything from sterilisers to stairgates is provided.
Sorry to ramble on, but just wanted to share with everyone what a great time my family had here. I never would have thought a holiday with small children could have been so relaxing.Read moreLess
