"A beautiful villa in idyllic location…"
A 5 bedroom holiday villa in the heart of the Dordogne - 45 mins from Bergerac and 90 mins from Bordeaux. We stayed for 2 weeks and loved every minute.
The villa is situated right in the middle of a vineyard. This made for beautiful and gloriously peaceful surroundings. The vineyard owners are very friendly, and happy to take you on a tour and show you how the (very good) wine is made.
The villa has a beautiful pool for your exclusive use. The kids were hardly out of it for the whole 2 weeks. There's also loads of outside space - more than enough for a big game of rounders or football. Inside, the villa is beautiful. All five bedrooms have their own bathrooms. The lounge and kitchen are large and the kitchen has every utility you are likely to need. There is English satellite TV and wifi and loads of games for the kids to play, including a table tennis table.
The nearest town - Duras - is beautiful, and most welcoming to English tourists. I'd particularly recommend the night market on a Thursday evening. Trestle tables are laid out in the town square and stalls selling moules frites, rotisserie chicken, escargot, crepes and many other things (including wine) are set up. The atmosphere was brilliant for adults and kids alike.
The Dordogne is a beautiful region - with loads to do for families in the area.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend the House of the Vineyard. The owners, Simon and Emma, are an English-based couple with a young family, and they couldn't have been more helpful. More info at www.thehouseofthevineyar
