"Paradise for families with babies and young kids…"

Quinta Do Alto is a cluster of about 12 lovely villas all managed by Ultimate Algarve. Myself and my partner stayed in one of them in May 2012 with his parents and our 3 year old. The company specialises in child friendly holiday rentals and are the best we've ever come across (and we've tried a few). The villas are a really high spec and are fully kitted out with everything you need for kids and babies - stairgates, paddling pools, baby baths, cot and bedding, potties, high chair, numerous toys - even kids cutlery, cups and plates etc. Also, all the rooms have blackout shutters so everyone sleeps well, despite the bright mornings. its all included in the price so you don't get stung for loads of extras. The people who manage the properties are lovely (all dads) and go out of their way to make you feel at home and provide everything you need. They also have a complex called Fonte Verde down the road where we have also stayed. Bit cheaper than these villas as you share a pool, but just as high spec and well equipped. More sociable as well. Vilamoura is great for kids - big harbour with lots of restaurants and kids rides. amusements dotted along it. the beach is fab too - big, sandy and breezy. the villas are about an hours walk from the harbour and beach but there is a regular tourist bus / train that leaves from 15mins walk away if you don't have a car. nearest supermarket is 15mins walk in Vilamoura old town (small but well stocked) as are a few restaurants and bars. We will definitely go back next year - love the algarve, and the fact it was so child friendly meant we could relax that little bit more.
