"Mumsnetters' comments: A purpose-built village in the middle of nowhere,…"
20-Dec-2010
Mumsnetters' comments: A purpose-built village in the middle of nowhere, it's "a bit soul-less, like a Spanish Milton Keynes, but with fantastic tennis and golf!" Excellent facilities include a fab children's football school and well-taught mini tennis. Childcare was "brilliant, the best equipped kids' club ever" but extremely expensive so "a game of tennis without kids cost a fortune". Restaurants are OK, but choose accommodation with care; Bella Luz received good reviews but Los Olivos although "comfortable" was "noisy and the indoor pool cold". Overall: "it's not a cultural experience but if you're a tennis/golf nut or want an easy family holiday then go!"

"Appartments are of a very high standard as is the…"

Appartments are of a very high standard as is the whole of the compex. There are a number of restaurants to choose from ,all very child friendly, but the La Manga owned ones can be expensive, particularly the Indian.
Unfortunately the play areas seem to belong to specific villages and unless you stayed there were unable to use, likewise only some parts had heated outdoor pools and unless the weather was warm it wasn't possible to use the ordinary ones and the indoor pool was too cold for our toddler as well.
There is an excellent childrens club with cctv so you can watch them inside, we only used it once partly because it was so expensive for a session.
If you book a treatment at the spa you get free all day access to the very nice pool and spa there, so we used that once but again quite pricey.
There isn't a lot else to do around the area, so if the weather isn't great as it was when we were there then you are a bit stuck.
On a definite plus side, the Scottish Rugby team were training there and were in evidence in the pool and restaurants.
I think this would be very suitable for a family with slightly older children into tennis and/or golf and we plan to come back when DS is older.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"This is a fantastic place for families. The kids club…"

This is a fantastic place for families. The kids club is by far the best we've been to and is open all year round. As well as the kids club there are lots of organised activities for the kids including football, tennis, dance, cricket.
The resort is made up of lots of communities and is more like a small village. We stayed at Hacienda del Golf which is very central and has a lovely pool in large gardens. There are about 20 restaurants and bars catering for all tastes and prices. It's not a cheap place but as most of the accommodation is self-catering you don't have to eat out all the time.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
