"We actually managed to relax on holiday with 3 kids in tow!…"
15-Jan-2013
We stayed here in September 2012, this was the second time staying at La Grange du Moulin and yet again we all had a fantastic time. In 2012 we stayed for 2wks giving us (the adults) time to unwind and the kids plenty of time to enjoy the numerous activities on site. Perfect for pre- schoolers as most of the schools had gone back when we were there, (our children were aged 4, 2 and 4 months at the time of our last visit) . They made plenty of friends and we got to relax in the evenings making friends with the like minded parents staying in the surrounding gites. Wendy and Chris are very helpful and friendly... Wendy is also a qualified babysitter so my husband and I got to go out one evening 'sans enfants'!! Great location to stay in for seeing fab sites and enjoying great family activities, markets, the fab zoo, caves, La Rochelle and surrounding islands. There is plenty on-site too with plenty of outdoor toys for the kids, the swimming pool, the teddy bear picnic, the t-shirt painting, (we came away with 5 t-shirts) and the ceramic painting and diving classes for the older kids... Chris will even take you on a tour of the local vineyard! I remember being pregnant with my second child when I booked here for the first time. It was a moment of desperation when I said to my husband we need to go on a family holiday where the kids will have fun and can play safely... La Grange Du Moulin kept coming up so we went for it, and I'm super happy we did - great memories!!!

"Perfect for a holiday with small children…"
01-Jul-2012
We had a lovely time at the Grange du Moulin. The garden full of play equipment and toys is great, the pools are clean and safe, Chris and Wendy are friendly, but not pushy, hosts, their boys were lovely, our fellow guests were really nice, and there is plenty to do in the local area to keep a family entertained for a couple of weeks. It's not luxurious, but it was comfortable and had everything that a family with small children need, which really saved on packing. Weather was a bit mixed, as it's been everywhere lately, but I would definitely recommend La Grange du Moulin if you like the sound of a relaxing time in the French countryside.

"We have spent 3 very happy summers at La Grange…"
14-Oct-2011
We have spent 3 very happy summers at La Grange du Moulin as guests of the charming Wendy, Chris, Thomas and Benjamin. Perfectly set up for families, Grange du Moulin's main features include a wonderful (and secure) swimming pool, a smaller heated pool for babies and toddlers, and the added bonus of a big garden, complete with pirate ship, sandpit and toys which is directly in front of all the gites. We spent many a happy evening sipping a glass of local vino, watching our boys (now 8 and 4), making friends and having a total ball. Chris and Wendy make a huge amount of effort for their guests with wine walks, wine tastings and fabulous seafood BBQs for guests to enjoy. Beautiful beaches are about 45 minutes away and we enjoyed wonderful day trips to La Rochelle, Saintes, Cognac and the Ile D'Oleron. Both my boys have become avid lovers of seafood because of our trips to La Grange and we have incredibly happy memories of our French vacances....!

"La Grange du Moulin has been our holiday destination for…"
14-Oct-2011
La Grange du Moulin has been our holiday destination for the last three years, with two young children in tow! It is far and away the best holiday we've found, and have thoroughly loved every moment. Chris and Wendy gave us the warmest welcome, and were always around to give us advice and help - from plasters to where to eat and what to drink! It definitely felt like a home from home with excellent facilities and the most peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. I cannot recommend it highly enough, a true gem of a place.

"This place is heaven for young children and therefore for…"
02-Oct-2011
This place is heaven for young children and therefore for us too ! With a 2.5 yr and 1 yr old, going on holiday is (though wonderful) a bit fraught and approached with some trepidation. Wendy and Chris however, enabled us to have the most fun, relaxed and carefree holiday we have ever had with the children. Everything has been thought of, is provided and is made easy. And at the same time we got to enjoy the picturesque and beautiful, rustic French countryside, wine and food and unique ambience of La Grange du Moulin. Several people we met here were repeat visitors which shows how much people rate it and I will definitely be recommending this place to all my friends with pre schoolers (though on second thoughts, maybe I shouldn't or we'll never manage to book in again !) The trampoline, sand pit, pirate ship, swimming pool (heated) and toddler pool made La Grange du Moulin perfect for our toddlers (our 2 yr old - ''I love our holiday place'') and best of all it's all safely enclosed so we can relax. It's not luxury but we didn't expect or want that and again makes the cottages much more suitable for little ones. Loved all the info on activities and the area, which was all useful and also the vine walk, wine tasting, teddy bears picnic and bbq all of which was sociable without being obtrusive. Loved it 10/10, 5*, thank you so much, see you next year !

We've just come back from our third great holiday at La Grange Du Moulin. We've never returned to the same place for a holiday before, so the fact we've been back so many times speaks volumes! Wendy and Chris (and Benjamin and Thomas!) are the perfect hosts and make everyone feel very welcome. Our three children, now aged 9, 5 and 3 always have a fantastic time. Set in a beautiful countryside location with two pools and a play area for the kids it's the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

''Excellent holiday. Before even arriving I had received excellent emails from Wendy and Chris letting us know what was available at the cottage, this was invaluable when travelling with a 9 month old and 5 year old. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Wendy and Chris. Everything we could think of for children was provided, even a travel cot and play duvet downstairs - fantastic ! Our daughter has never been so happy and confident wanting to play in the garden and pool for almost 12 hours a day. The cottage and garden were completely safe and secure allowing Mummy and Daddy some time to read !! Some days out but mostly relaxing around pool and cottage as the children loved it. The perfect family holiday - Thank you - See you next year !''

"We have just booked our 4th holiday to La Moulin…"
15-Aug-2011
We have just booked our 4th holiday to La Moulin du Grange for 2012 as we have had such amazing experiences there in the past 3 years. This year we visited in June and we all made some amazing friends. Our 4 year old and 1 year old had great fun playing with the other children and in the garden with all the toys and play equipment. The large heated swimming pool was great for adult swimming and messing around with our 4 year old. The 1 year old loved the heated toddler pool, splashing around with his brother and his friends. We still have loads to see & do in the area and we think of our holiday as going back to see friends, as Chris, Wendy and the boys are so friendly and welcoming. The social element of the holiday is what makes it so special and why we keep wanting to go back. Roll on next year!

"We had a fantastic week at La grange Du Moulin.…"
24-Jul-2011
We had a fantastic week at La grange Du Moulin. We only wish we could have stayed longer!! if you have young children and are looking for the perfect hoilday in france then this is the one for you! The child friendly garden is a childrens paradise. Our boys (4 and 2)loved the pirate ship, sand pit and outdoor toys. There were even toys left in the cottage so we didn't need to bring any thing. The pools are great, especially the childrens pool and we loved the pool toys and inflatable which were available for us to use. The owners Wendy and Chris could not do enough for the guests and the kids enjoyed the teddy bears picnic and we enjoyed the boozy family BBQ. We even managed to read a book which with 2 children under 5 is definatly a first on holiday!! We will be back!

"A truly relaxing holiday - words I never thought I…"
22-Jul-2011
A truly relaxing holiday - words I never thought I would say with a 3 year old little boy in tow! The set up was perfect for young children, with a safe garden with plenty of toys and activities but also lots of space for games and running around. The pirate ship was a big hit with our little boy. The pools were great, the toddler pool was perfect for hours of safe splashing whilst we relaxed and watched. There is loads to do in the surrounding area but we often found it hard to drag ourselves away! After the children had gone to bed, the adults sat and chilled out within earshot of the gites. The seafood bbq was well organised and a highlight of the holiday - Chris even managed to convert my husband to the delights of eating moules mariniere. Overall we had the perfect, relaxing holiday in France - I would highly recommend La Grange du Moulin for families with toddlers.

Fantastic - have already booked again for next year, which will be our 3rd visit. It really is a worry free, relaxing holiday. The accommodation is simply furnished with everything you could need for toddlers - high chairs, books, dvd & games. The garden is a safe as it needs to be for curious toddlers and the pools are heated to the perfect temperature.
Wendy, Chris, Benjamin and Thomas are fantastic hosts and their many years of experience at providng relaxing and happy holidays shines through.Read moreLessMumsnetter meio

Cannot recommend enough just wonderful! Most relaxing holiday we've had - our 3 yr old daughter loved playing with the other children and 'calling for' her little friend next door, even had the chance to read a
book ! Loved the opportunity to socialise with others in the evenings - had some good laughs over a bottle (s) of wine. Lots to see and do in the area but also nice to
stay here and relax while our little girl played with her new friends in a safe contained area with lots to keep her occupied including trampoline, pools, sandpit and lots of toys. What a fantastic place to unwind and relax.
Chris and Wendy made us feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. We are already planning a return trip with friends we made here in he next gite !Read moreLessMumsnetter eastyorkshire

"This has to be about the best place any family…"
23-Jun-2011
This has to be about the best place any family can go on holiday. Chris and Wendy are fantastic hosts and both parents and children are so well catered for that you could be forgiven for never going out to see the beautiful local area! The 'cottages' are comfortable, spacious and well stocked, each one has everything needed for the children, including high chairs, cots, stair gates, heaps of toys... the list goes on. The gardens are filled with things for the kids to do, there's an enclosed pool area with heated pool and a separate heated children's pool with canopy. Wendy is a qualified childminder so there is some childcare available if you really need it - but with all this on hand you'll have only happy children to watch from your terrace or pool lounger! The weekly BBQs, wine walks and tastings, and varied children's activities make this a holiday to remember - and it's no surprise that families return year after year. Simply perfect.
