"Easy, lovely holiday…"
08-Oct-2012
We had a lovely holiday at Casa do Castelo. We were apprehensive about our first holiday abroad with our 16 month old but the apartment couldn't have been better equipped, saving us packing everything but the kitchen sink and preventing us from forgetting anything vital.
There were toys and books, a DVD player, potty, highchair, baby bath to use in the shower, plastic bowls, cutlery, beakers, a cot, changing matRead moreLessMumsnetter cassr55

"one of our best family holidays…"
18-Jun-2012
We had a wonderful time at Casa do Castelo. Firstly, the accommodation is very well set up for small children: stools so they can reach the bathroom sinks; nicely dark bedrooms; sippy cups and other appropriately plastic utensils; a good selection of toys, dvds and books etc. And from an adult perspective the apartment is light, spacious, clean, with a really well equipped kitchen. Secondly, the location is great. Beaches, walled towns, forts, and a gorgeous park with boating lake all within very easy reach. Thirdly, it's lovely having Alison, James and Sophie upstairs as they were super helpful in terms of lending us stuff and answering questions within being intrusive. The only thing we missed I think was slightly bigger run-around space for the children - there is a fabulous pool very safely enclosed in a lovely leafy little garden (there's a palm tree by the pool, which just gives it a luxurious holiday feel). However the children couldn't go into the garden to play without our being glued to their side because of the pool, there was a little veranda where they could play with a sandpit without close supervision but it didn't occupy them as long as some more space would have . . . . saying this I know that James and Alison are working on a further section of the garden so this may not be an issue soon. All in all a great time, would absolutely go back.

"My son (5 yrs) and I stayed at Casa do…"
07-Nov-2011
My son (5 yrs) and I stayed at Casa do Castelo this summer and had a lovely time. This place is well located, near: lots of good beaches; a lovely town; a whole range of shops and markets; plenty of child-friendly attractions (our favourite being the fort at Peniche).
The apartment is well equipped and is set within a lovely villa, which has a large walled garden and a fantastic, big, secure swimming pool. We had hours of fun in the pool - lots of toys and silly games to join in with. Beach tents, sun shades, beach toys, DVD's, books etc. were all provided - it had everything we needed.
It's a very comfortable and easy place to be on holiday.

"We had a truly lovely time at Casa do Castelo…"
30-Oct-2011
We had a truly lovely time at Casa do Castelo this summer (July 2011). The apartment is beautiful with everything our family needed provided FOC: cots, toys, sun tent, high chairs, pool toys, socket covers etc. It's set in a private villa with a secure walled garden and a salt water pool - really kind to little skin. The pool is fenced off and we felt happy to let our children play on the terrace knowing that they couldn't wonder into the pool. I even read some of my book!
Our children 2, 4 & 6 all loved it with our 6 year telling our hosts that we would be back next summer (which we hope to do). Alison & James are great hosts - they're there if you need them but they don't intrude.
It's our first visit to The Silver Coast of Portugal - very beautiful and unspoilt and green!Read moreLessMumsnetter FarEm
