"Super family-friendly hotel right on the Dead Sea…"
This lovely modern hotel is situated, along with several other international hotels, on a stretch right on the Dead Sea. It's a large complex - with over 200 rooms and 17 suites - set on multiple levels with a central section housing the main restaurant, lobby and pool.
There are no less than 8 restaurants and bars, mostly serving up an international menu such as Il Terrazzo where we tried lovely thin and crispy pizzas and Champions Sports bar which features sliders, Tex-Mex and steaks on its menu. And for breakfast you can choose from freshly made omelettes and pancakes to sushi or Middle-Eastern fare.
Our room featured a small balcony with room enough for a table and two chairs, overlooking the pool. There were two double beds, so plenty of room for a family. The bathroom was a good size too.
The pool will be the key attraction for any children. Split into multiple levels, the top pool features a long slide down into the lower pool which is where my daughter spent hours zooming down. There are also jacuzzis and powerful spa-jets too. Parents, on the other, hand, might prefer the attention of the waiters on roller blades who zip around the pool area bringing drinks to your sunbed!
Anyone visiting the Dead Sea will want to have a float in it - and the hotel handily has its own private beach and access to the sea. There are pots of the warm dark mud to coat yourself in - make sure one of the family stays clean to take photos - and showers by the sea to wash the mud off with. One word of warning though - make sure any children going in know not to get the water in their eyes, nose or mouth. And make sure they don't have any cuts or grazes as the incredibly salty water will sting. That said, it's an amazing experience to bob around in the sea where you just can't sink no matter how hard you try.
The hotel's guests seemed to be a very international mix of Europeans and Jordanians, making for a lively atmostphere in the evenings. Entertainment is put on regularly and the belly dancer on the night we were there was a huge hit with all the children in our group.
We stayed at the Marriott as guests of the Jordan Tourist Board.Read moreLess
