"Fun and relaxing for all the family…"
The Verandah Resort is a lovely in its layout where they are individual ‘bungalows’ rather than standard rooms which give it an element of individuality. However, due to it being quite hilly and spaced there are golf buggies that go round the resort and collect guest from allocated stops.
Once we had checked into our room then we were off to Antigua Rainforest Canopy Tours. Having never taken part in zip wiring before I was a little cautious but decided to just go for it. It was all very well organised and all we were fully briefed on all of the safety equipment before heading to the trees. The rangers were great fun and really added to the experience. The zip wires varied in length and height and after the initial go I couldn’t wait for the next one! It’s in a beautiful setting so even if you’re not up for taking part it’s still a lovely place to sit and relax on the veranda and watch everyone taking part.
Back at the resort there is a Kids Club for children ages 4 to 11 and it’s open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m There is a large adventure playground shaded by trees and a children’s splash pool. In addition there is a babysitting service for parents who wish to leave the resort for the evening, for a cost.
We then visited the kids club at Carlisle Bay which is a beautiful resort with luxurious apartments fully kitted out for families. There are great facilities for children with supervision if you want to leave the kids to have fun whilst you have some relaxation with one of the many spa activities on offer.
On our return to Verandah I took a walk down to the private beach which even though isn’t huge it didn’t feel crowed and had a lovely relaxed feel to it. I then had an amazing massage which was a great way to finish the day before going to dinner at the resorts restaurant which had a very relaxed feel with good service however, I went for the local delicacy that is known as conch, which is a shellfish, but unfortunately it was a little on the tough side and a couple of us struggled with it! However, the rest of the meal was enjoyable and no-one else had complaints. Breakfast in the restaurant always had plenty of choice.
