"First and definitely not the last time visiting Antigua and hopefully St James’s Club!…"
Greeted on arrival at St James' Club which is part of the Elite Island Resorts group, with a lovely cold drink whilst doing a very swift check in. Then taken to my room which was overlooking the beautiful marina. The room itself was lovely with the biggest bathroom I’ve seen in a hotel which included a huge bath and a double shower; I didn’t know which one to pick! This made it very suitable for a family and would make bath/shower times a lot easier and quicker with more than one family member being able to use it at one time – if they so wish! We had dinner in the hotel restaurant which had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Overall, even though this was a family hotel it didn’t feel too crowded and had a very spacious feel that makes it suitable for both families and couples, especially around the pool area.
We arrived during Sailing Week so there was a lot of activities going on around this which included us attending a concert which included a set by one of Bob Marley’s sons, Kymani Marley which was a bonus.
The next day we went to Antigua Paddles for a kayak adventure which was excellent fun, even in the torrential rain, where we kayaked through the mangrove bays and tiny islands and we got to see and hold a starfish which was something I never thought I’d get the chance to do. The experience was made even more enjoyable by the wonderful hosts Conrad and Jennie who made us most welcome and offered wonderful cakes after our adventure! We then went on to Pigeon Point for lunch on the beach before heading back to the hotel.
The following day was filled with Island Safari 4x4 Discovery where we were taken around the island to see local sites and points of interest whilst learning more about the island. Our guide was certainly entertaining with his many stories and off road driving! This was a great way to see the island but probably could have been done in a shorter time.
Overall, the hotel was fantastic and well catered for families and the activities available were varied and a great way to see the island.
Mumsnet was invited on this press trip by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.Read moreLess

"we stayed at this resort in 2009, the first time…"
we stayed at this resort in 2009, the first time we had tried an all inclusive deal. My teenagers had a wonderful time and would love to go back, citing the hotel catamaran trip the best, We went out for the day twice. Also the free watersports were always available with a safe sailing area. Most relaxing time, food and drink good and plentiful, evenings quieter but that was fine for us. Free wifi in the lobby was useful to keep up with home and facebook for kids. would definitely recommend.Read moreLess

Mumsnetters' comments; Reviewers loved this resort: "the best holiday we've had with the kids." A stunning location, it's "hard to tear yourself away from the hotel" but "it's worth exploring this lovely island." The hotel pool is "fantastic" and the beach "perfect for kids, sloping gently into the sea." The kids club is "efficient and well run"; "if you wanted to you could not see your kids for two weeks, but it's also great if you just want a couple of hours off." With "warm and friendly service", the consensus seems to be: "expensive, but worth saving up for."Read moreLess
