Scandic Hamburg Emporio, Germany

The four star Scandic Hotel in Hamburg is situated in the heart of the city centre. It has everything you need; free wifi, sauna and gym. The staff are lovely and friendly and more than happy to help. The interior of the hotel is very glamorous and it has quite a futuristic feel to it. All of the rooms have floor to ceiling windows and wooden floors and are very bright and clean. Also the mattress toppers on the beds are absolutely divine so you are guaranteed a fantastic night’s sleep.

The hotel is only short taxi ride from the airport (about 25 mins) and only a quick walk to the Gansemarkt square and the main shopping streets in Hamburg. If you are visiting Hamburg at Christmas, which is when the city is at its most magical, you are also only a short walk away from all of the beautiful Christmas markets.

There are a number of other attractions close by, one of which is Miniatur Wunderland and a trip to this is an absolute must. It is one of the most successful exhibitions in Northern Germany and it includes the world’s largest train exhibition. You can see trains running through recreations of Hamburg and the coast, Austria, the Grand Canyon and Scandinavia. But it is so much more than just trains; there are beaches, festivals, airports, cruise ships, football stadiums and even discos too. Everything runs like clockwork and the amount of detail and the number of characters involved in each scene is just incredible. It is a mini heaven for any child and it does well to keep the adults entertained too. You will be so swept away with how magnificent this place is, you could happily spend an entire day here and not get bored.

When it comes to looking for somewhere nice to eat, if you are a meat lover I would strongly recommend you make a reservation at the Side hotel. The Side hotel is Hamburg’s only five star design hotel and is just a few minutes’ walk from the Scandic hotel. The beautiful surroundings and fine cuisine make it a splendid way to spend your evening.
