"From the point of view of a family with young"
04-Nov-2011
From the point of view of a family with young kids, Agadir seems like a great place to go on holiday. Aside from the 300 days of sunshine a year (let's face it, everyone is going to appreciate that), the place is really geared towards the convenience and ease you really need when you're travelling with a brood.
I flew with bmi from Heathrow directly to Agadir, which is a new route for this airline. Stress-free flying at its best!
As for hotels, there are plenty of resorts that have a lot of attractions for families. The Sofitel that we stayed in was relaxed enough for kids to feel at home clambering around but still had a very serene, classy feeling.
The breakfast was fantastic - with Moroccan pancakes and eggs served hot for you, with local specialities like harira alongside cornflakes and croissants. All the food was fresh from the souks, so you know you're eating local.
The spa was definitely worth a visit, with the traditional hammam treatments, as well as massages, manicures and sauna.
The new marina in Agadir has some great places to eat - probably just for parents - like Yacht 33, which places European and Moroccan side by side on a menu bursting with fresh fish. For bigger groups with kids, the Beach Club hotel takes external bookings, and for a real Moroccan experience (be warned - you will be bellydanced at) this is a really good value option, with £20 getting you three courses and wine. I also had dinner at the Riad Villa Blanche which was truly delicious, although a complete blow out. Expensive, but well worth it for the superb food and service.
