"We have chosen a hotel in a rather remote, tranquil"
09-Sep-2010
We have chosen a hotel in a rather remote, tranquil area, 15 minutes on the bus from Kos City itself.
I cannot fault the hotel or the staff. I gave them a call in advance, so when we arrived we had a nice cot, a kettle and good-sized empty fridge in the room.
We were half-board. The food was fantastic, and it kept us going all day. We always adhered to the siesta, so we appreciated the comfortable, spacious room and balcony.
As for entertainment, they had several large pools, including an infinity pool and a bar pool.
The children had a very large playground area with a nice big, built shallow pool in the middle. The kids' club was right next to it stocked with all the toys, cars, wendy houses, etc. imaginable. DS is only 2, so we could not leave him there. They even had a bouncy castle.
There was a beach, too, but we never got there.
Every member of staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with my rather grumpy toddler. The kids' club was staffed by a lovely and very patient Russian girl, who seemed to speak all the languages in the world.
There was a good enough selection of shops in Kos town, and a pharmacy when we needed it.
There seemed to have been several good restaurants in town, but we did not really have to eat out, just had long walks and enjoyed the little sightseeing train.
The weather was good around 30 degrees Centigrade, but it was a bit windy for me.
We flew out in the night, and flew back at 4 in the morning, which was not ideal, as you had to leave the room by lunchtime the day before. The hotel staff very kindly let us stay in the room till 5 pm for an extra £60 ensuring a good afternoon nap for DS. I thought that was good.
There were few English people, the guests were mainly (newly) rich Russians who were very pleasant (no drinking or rowdy behaviour there, most of the families brought the grandmas, too).
All in all we had a very nice holiday, and I would happily go back.Read moreLessMumsnetter gingercat12
