"This is the only family holiday I've been on where"
27-Jan-2012
This is the only family holiday I've been on where I didn't come back exhausted! The childcare is second to none, with clubs from babies upwards, right to 17. They do great activities - watersports, trips, treasure hunts, pool games - and all three of mine (been twice, they were 2/3, 5/6, and 13/14) adored it. So much so they never wanted to see us they were having so much fun!
The grownups can also take part in a wide range of watersports and fitness activities, classes and equipment all included. So if you're lucky, like me, you can watch your DH fall off his windsurfing board for a whole hour! I opted for extreme sunbathing instead, apart from some hilarious tennis coaching (again all included).
Food is superior buffet style, and for the first time in a while, we actually got to eat alone, as the kids were off having a ball a lot of the time.
Great family rooms as well - we had a double interconnecting to a triple, which is rare in a hotel. Rooms aren't luxurious by any means, but you're barely in them really.
All the staff - from the waiters to the nannies and sailing instructors - were fabulous, so enthusiastic and welcoming, remembering us all one year to the next.
Seems like a big outlay when you initially book, but once you are there and realise how much is included, it seems worth it!Read moreLessMumsnetter debbiedj

"Brilliant for a family holiday if you like "doing something""
30-Sep-2010
Brilliant for a family holiday if you like "doing something" not just sitting on a beach (though of course you can just sit on the beach if you prefer!). Activities include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, mountain biking, waterskiing and wakeboarding, tennis and fitness classes as well as the pool and spa treatments. Tuition is provided free of charge, and there is childcare/kids' clubs for all ages from 4 months upwards (so you can actually get some time to DO the activities), which are also included in the price except for the very youngest (4mths to 2 years) for whom there is a reasonable supplement.
We went with a baby and toddler and they both enjoyed themselves, both while in their respective kids' clubs and with us. The staff were great and all seem to love children, the baby has never had so much attention! It is one of Neilson's smaller clubs, so has less children at one time than the larger ones, which can be a good or a bad thing depending on their age and how much they like playing with other children; if they like lots of company you might want to consider one of Neilson's larger clubs instead at off-peak times, or check how many others are already booked in. Overall a great holiday.Read moreLessMumsnetter MyNameIsInigoMontoya
