"Portinatx is a beautiful part of Ibiza (South Pacific was…"
Portinatx is a beautiful part of Ibiza (South Pacific was filmed here, don't you know!) and the hotel had magnificent views over the bay. I went in August with my dd (9) and ds (7), and we had a fabulous time, and are all ready planning our Ibiza trip for next year.
The rooms are relatively basic - we had three beds in one room - but are very clean and you'll be spending very little time in them. They also have balconies, so once dcs were in bed, I sat out and read my book! They have interconnecting rooms as well for larger families.
The pool is lovely, although it was busy when we were there (unsurprising in August!). We still managed to get sun loungers each day though, even though some guests laid their towels out pretty early!!
The buffet is massive, offering a huge range of food, as well as a specific buffet just for the kids. We were all inclusive, which I love because the kids can just get their own drinks and ice creams all day, and you don't have to keep reaching in to your pocket, but I do like to venture out of the hotel to eat locally when I'm on holiday, so we did have a couple of meals out, and a picnic on the beach one day. We had two lovely meals at restaurants which both looked over the bay (one had crazy golf, which resulted in much hilarity!). Make sure you don't miss the Portinatx smaller version of the well know Hippy Market, it's on a Sunday at 6pm!
The kids camps are great and the staff very enthusiastic. If your kids don't fancy camp, there are still load of kids in the pool and a game of water polo going on most of the time. The v.enthusiastic staff also hold a poolside quiz every morning, water polo game and pool disco every afternoon!
They have a kids pool (only as deep as their calves!) with a sunken pirate ship, slides and fountains/showers, which my two loved. There is also a new baby pool, which is always in the shade - my two too old for this, but looked like quite a few babies where having a ball in it!!
There's an astro turf football pitch, and although we didn't partake, it looked like your kids could sign up for football training throughout the week (there was also a performance workshop for 3 or so days, with a evening performance at the end - my two regretted not doing this once they saw the show!!)
There is entertainment laid on every evening - for the kids first and then the whole family after that. Bingo was hugely popular and it seemed like everyone took part!
Thomson lay on quite a few trips for guests to go on - we didn't actually go on them in the end, but fancied the day on the Catamaran and the trip to Es Cana which is home to the real Hippy Market.
There are three fabulous beaches right next to each other, with a roped off swimming area as there are quite a few boats anchored in the bay. The sea is incredibly clear, and my dd spend all her time snorkeling! They also rent out pedalos with slides on, which was great fun. There is a glass bottomed boat trip from the larger beach, which we kept meaning to go on but never got round to!
Just one other thing I have to mention - this is a Thomson only hotel, so we flew out on a Thomson plane - the traditional safety chat is done by video, and they have kids doing it - it's brilliant - it's the first time I've watched the safety demonstration for, well for ever probably! They've managed to make it sweet and funny, without being saccharine! Great idea!Read moreLess
