Hotel Galini, Greece

Just back from October half-term week at Cystal Active (myself, DS1 age nine and DS2 age seven). Definitely recommended for an active, enjoyable holiday, despite the weather being poor (four days of TORRENTIAL rain - would not go again at this time of year). Accommodation was basic, but fine for us, we had a triple room and balcony with spectacular views over the bay. There are lots of steps which got slippery in the rain, so probably not suitable for toddlers, though we heard the childcare was good. The kids' clubs were half days only, so you did not get the impression of the 'Mark Warner syndrome' with kids being packed off 24/7. The food was simple but good buffet style (I only saw chips once in the whole week and no nuggets or burgers!!!) and the evening meal began at seven, so kids mostly ate with parents - definitely a child friendly vibe.

Think kids aged eight and up would get the most out of it. The boys enjoyed the sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing; there were two swimming pools and it never felt crowded.

The hotel is within walking distance of Nidri, and bus or taxi takes about 20 mins to Lefkada town.

Would definitely go again (the boys wanted to stay on and for a mad moment I half-seriously contemplated it...) and preferred it to similar trips we have done with Mark Warner.
