"We spent Christmas week at this hotel and the staff"
12-Feb-2012
We spent Christmas week at this hotel and the staff helped make it feel Christmassy and the evening meal on Christmas day was impressive-six or seven courses. The hotel does feel a littlein need of a revamp and the restaurant is overcrowded with tables and overly large chairs. The kids ski lessons started at virtually the same time as the ski guiding so after helping my 3 kids to get ready to go to the pick up point the timing was tight. The nannies were great though and having them help take my kids to and from their lessons was invaluable. The resort itself is very glamorous and beautiful. There were some very impressive snow sculptures along the main street depicting Father Christmas and the Nativity scene which made the town look rather magical.

"Comments from other Mumsnetters: A "very central hotel" which benefits"

Comments from other Mumsnetters: A "very central hotel" which benefits from being "only a short walk from the slopes." The accommodation is "a little faded and scuffed, but in a great location" plus "dinner is a nice, relaxed event" and "the pool and baby listening facilities are useful." Everyone found the childcare "top notch." Plus, because kids get dropped off at and picked up from ski school, you can enjoy the "excellent mountain restaurants for lunch!" Only the journey drew some criticism: "A lengthy coach transfer and early start mean it's a bit of a slog" but overall "good value."

Would recommend this - the accommodation is basic but the childcare and all the staff are fantastic. The location in Val is good (once you get there - the transfer is not a highlight) and the food is great. Ski hosting is a great bonus. You may have problems if you are all planning on attending ski school though -the childcare and classes start at the same time.

The hotel could do with a bit of modernisation (bathrooms!), but the facilities for babies are great - 24 hour sterilising kitchen (also good to take screaming infant to at 3am if all else fails!), the creche staff will puree food for babies (hence 8/10. The Heinz jars on offer get 1/10)
Resort and skiing - the best!
Hotel staff were incredibly helpful when I injured my shoulder & neck - let me phone insurance co from front desk, gave baby breakfast & dressed him, etc - couldn't do enough to help.Read moreLess
