"We chose this on the strength of what I'd read"
26-Mar-2010
We chose this on the strength of what I'd read in posts on Mumsnet-and I was so glad we did!
Fabulous 4* accommodation. We had a family suite which was a huge room with Austrian twin, large high quality bathroom and and bunk beds for the children in a separate attached room(all part of the suite). Fab view of the valley from our room and because of the the location of the hotel Id imagine everyone had a great view.
The hotel is situated next to a lift and pickup point for ski-school( a good t bar lift which joins a bubble lift to the midstation of mountain). We had full board-great buffet breakfast, lunch if you could be bothered to leave the mountain, afternoon coffee and kuchen when you finish your days ski-ing and a 4 course evening meal-children could eat from the children's buffet or the same as us. If they wanted they could also eat in the kids club which ours did on one occasion (gave us a chance to have a nice meal without the kids but they did tire of the kids club easily).Included in the price was ski passes for all the family and ski school for the kids(fantastic value). The food was extremely good-I am very fussy and had no complaints at all. This place ticked a lot of boxes for us-The nearest airport was Innsbruck, only 40 mins transfer and the hotel picked you up-so no hanging around for others at the airport before you were on your way and very short transfer when you've got your children with you.
The hotel had an indoor/outdoor pool-so you could swim out through a gap into the bracing snow! It had saunas and a 'wellness' centre-which we didn't make use of because we were too busy ski-ing, but it looked great. The service was great with very friendly staff-It was my first time ski-ing in Austria and I will definitely be going back.
The only negative comment I think people might make is that the ski area hasn't much in the way of beginners slopes-our DCs 9 and 6 had skied once before so they were fine, and also the ski-ing area is not extensive, but plenty of reds for intermediates like myself and DH -we loved it and almost don't want to tell anyone about it incase we cant get in next year!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
