"My husband is a good skier but my 3 children"
13-Jan-2012
My husband is a good skier but my 3 children (9yo twins and 4yo) and I are complete beginners so we were a bit apprehensive about our first family ski holiday. After reading reviews on Mumsnet and Tripadvisor we decided to try Connick.
We were picked up in Geneva and made the trip to La Chaumiere in about an hour and a half. We unpacked in our suite which consisted of a double room and a triple joined by a small foyer and shared bathroom. The decor was simple but very pleasant and rooms very clean and comfortable.
The chalet staff were all very friendly and super helpful. On our first afternoon I was told to "turn my brain off" by Nick (the owner) as they would sort out everything for us and they certainly did.
We were looked after from breakfast in the morning until bedtime. We were given a lovely breakfast every morning, help with getting our children ready for the day's skiing, a bar of chocolate and a drive to the slopes. From there the wonderful instructors/guides took over and miraculously taught my children (and me, a bit more slowly!) to ski. They know the area very well and were able to cut out all the boring bits and let us focus on the lovely skiing in this beautiful area.
We met up with the others for lunch and then carried on skiing (or in my 4 year old's case went back to the chalet). Later at the chalet we could collapse with a cuppa or a stiff drink (all inclusive). Our children had a beautiful dinner at 6pm and we started our 4 course feast at 8pm with all the wine we could handle.
The chalet was so safe and child friendly that we could let our children wander at will, and we often found them in the playroom or tv room, often chatting to the other (adult!) guests.
Highly recommended and we will definitely be going back!Read moreLessMumsnetter ladybaabaa

"this was our first family ski trip. DS is 8"
05-Jan-2012
this was our first family ski trip. DS is 8 and a little risk averse so we were very wary of how he would find skiing. DH and I are both intermediates but hadn't been skiing for over 15years so we were equally wary!.
we were collected from the airport promptly and after an 1hr and a quarter transfer arrived at the beautiful chalet. Very well appointed and very comfortable inside there was a delicious cake waiting for us!
La Chaumiere is something different - all the giuding instruction is undertaken by the Chalet staff and one or two instructors well known to nick. There were 4 families in our chalet made up of 9 children and 8 adults. We were split into 5 groups based on our ski abilities/ages and each day were taken out by an instructor and given tuition/guiding for the entire day.
No trudging off to some half hearted french instructor who couldn't care less it was all in house.
We were on the slopes by 9.30 - met with all the other groups at 1 for lunch then skiied till 4.
Cake awaited our return and the kids had dinner at 6 - something delicious but simple - shepherds pies/pasta/ lasagne etc and we had a fab 4 course dinner every night. All the alcohol you wanted although we were mostly tucked up in bed by 11 nursing our weary bones.
It was all a great success we all got on famously in the Chalet ( we didn't know the other families) the children had a blast and DS was doing red runs with me for the last 2 days - so the tuition was great!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"We usually go skiing with family, one of us staying"
26-Oct-2010
We usually go skiing with family, one of us staying behind to mind 4 kids, last year we decided to do something different. We went with a 8 month old and a 4 yr old. Connick ski is fantastic, we are going again this yr and can't see ourselves going anywhere else. Accommodation - gorgeous, chilcare - top class, skiing - both adult and children - amazing (our 4 yr old was coming down the mountain with us by the middle of the week). Food - 5*. Really nothing is too much for Nick and his team. Highly higly reccomend Connick Ski for any family looking for a ski holiday - where everyone has a fantastic time.

"Absolutely fabulous holiday - our youngest daughter's (just 5) first"
29-Sep-2010
Absolutely fabulous holiday - our youngest daughter's (just 5) first ski holiday and was a little stressed by the thought but no need to have worried - looked after beautifully and sensitively. Facilities lovely and looked after so well. The most stress free ski holiday I have ever had (in 20 years)

"Brilliant. Simply brilliant. We were able to enjoy the skiing"
23-Sep-2010
Brilliant. Simply brilliant. We were able to enjoy the skiing both on our own and with the kids who were looked after by the in house ski school - this meant it was possible to meet for lunch, coffees or a few runs together (or more) whilst they were receiving top knotch ski instruction with just the other kids staying there. The chalet is seriously 5 star and the service was impeccable - we really felt like long lost family and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend them.

"Connickski is the perfect place to take children on a"
20-Aug-2009
Connickski is the perfect place to take children on a ski holiday. The chalet itself is gorgeous, very traditional yet modern at the same time and it is huge so you don't feel like you are on top of everyone else. The rooms are all large and have lovely ensuites and most of them are family/interconnecting. The best thing about it though is the quality of service. All children (and adults) are looked after by either Nick (owner and all round fantastic guy and highly qualified ski instructor) or one of his fully qualified staff - it is essentially an in-house ski school, taking all the stress out of leaving your kids in ski school. It means you can meet up if you want to at lunch or a few runs in the afternoon. As far as babies/toddlers go the chalet is well equipped with the little things that make the difference - wooden cots, sterilisers, monitors, etc And the chef cooks really delicious healthy meals for all ages... I would recommend Connickski unhesitatingly!
