"Chats Bleus is a beautiful, timber-clad chalet with a stunning"
01-Nov-2011
Chats Bleus is a beautiful, timber-clad chalet with a stunning open plan living area overlooking the slopes. It will take 2 or 3 families (depending on how many there are of you) and the kids will love it - there is a big games room in the basement with playstation and supersized TV and a hot tub on the deck outside. The only thing to watch is that the wardrobe space in the bedrooms is a bit limited so be restrained/organised with your packing.
If there's half-decent snow you can ski practically in and out of the front door (a short hike up the garden and you're on a blue slope) leaving your boots in the heated boot room when you come in for the day.
Ski Famille combine the full works on childcare - in-chalet English nannies who will transport your kids to lessons and back and entertain them afterwards should you wish - combined with great hosting and top-notch cuisine (both at adult dinner and kids tea). If you're not careful you'll find yourself gaining extra pounds even if you ski all day.
Skiing in Les Gets offers something for everyone - lots of intermediate and beginner runs and you can head for Avoriaz for some really testing blacks if that's what floats your boat. For lovely, quiet long reds head to Mon Chery and stop at La Grande Ourse restaurant for a hot chocolate.
Let Gets is linked to Morzine and Avoriaz - part of the Portes du Soleil region. It's a lively and pretty resort with good restaurants and shopping. There's plenty for the non-skier, including and open air ice rink.
There are a couple of great ski schools - best is LGS - all English-speaking and brilliant - who run very small groups for kids over 6 (book early to avoid disappointment) but BASS International is also good.
All in all a beautiful chalet in a lively, family-friendly resort that's very easy to reach (1.15 transfer from Geneva) with great food and good childcare. All you need is a bit of snow and it's the perfect family ski holiday.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.
