"We stayed at the Chalet Marjorie in March 2012 -…"
29-Mar-2012
We stayed at the Chalet Marjorie in March 2012 - myself, DH and sons aged 4 and 10 months.
Chalet is very nice - comfortable and in a great location. Andy, the chef, is an absolute professional - an excellent cook and host and all meals were delicious. The chalet host was also very nice and she was brilliant when our 4 year old wasn't well. 360 ski school was great, the instructors spoke good English and our 4-year-old was zooming around with confidence by the end of the week. We loved the town of Les Gets too and found it perfect for a family trip. There are plenty of restaurants and bars, an ice rink, post office, shops to browse, a couple of supermarkets and the local ski area is perfect for confident intermediates who aren't mad-keen piste bashers. If you are like that just get a Portes du Soleil pass and you'll have more skiing than you could ever handle in a week!
Only downsides were: if the chalet was full I think it could be noisy, the beds were really hard (but I heard they're being replaced), no childcare on Weds so one of your holiday days is effectively wasted unless your kids are in ski school, no car seats on coach transfers (and private transfers are quite expensive), chalet play room was small.
All in all it was a great holiday though and DH and I really got to relax and have some 'us' time. Bliss!Read moreLessMumsnetter juneau

Stayed in Chalet Marjorie in March 2011 with some friends and had a fantastic week. Marjorie is a really comfortable chalet that is tastefully furnished and is 5 minutes walk from the town centre and the main lifts. The food was delicious and of a very high standard and the childcare was excellent. I have already booked again for 2012 and can't wait!

"Excellent holiday - with a 4yr old, 3 yr old…"
22-Apr-2010
Excellent holiday - with a 4yr old, 3 yr old and two just under twos between us! The chalet was great - family suites for the most part which means your kids are in the same room but have a separate bedroom so don't keep you awake with their snoring! The childcare was pretty good, the main disappointment (known about in advance) is that it is only available 5 days instead of 6. They arrange for the children to be taken to and from ski school so no hassle for parents - we can just head straight off up the slopes!
Food was excellent - Andy (the chef) has catered in Marjorie for about 10 years. The chalet hosts were also excellent and made a very stiff gin and tonic at the end of a hard days skiing!
Definitely thinking of ski famille again for next year.
NB We did have one potential major problem in that one day the lad due to pick up the 3 and 4 year olds after their lesson was 15 minutes late - their lovely instructor obv didn't leave them but it did mean she was late for her next lesson. However the childcare manager in resort dealt with the situation very well and to our satisfaction so we would have no hesitation in going again with them!Read moreLessMumsnetter catherinemummy

"First impression of Les Gets is the ease of transport…"
17-Aug-2009
First impression of Les Gets is the ease of transport - 5 hours door-to-door (Portsmouth, via Southampton Airport to Les Gets). However it was disappointing that the transfer was by coach, and with a wriggly 2 year old - it would have been better to be collected in a mini-bus, with a car seat as had happened the previous year when travelling with Ski Famille.
On the whole - Le Marjorie, being one of the "Select" chalets is definitely worth paying the extra for. Not only for the comfort, but if anything the fact that the alcohol is included, this gives you one less thing to think about.
Childcare is great. The nannies ask what your child's usual daily pattern consists of - and stick to it. And because the childcare is on site, the child can have their day-time kips in their cot. I don't know how they do it with so many small people - but they do, and they do it extremely well. Definitely going back next year!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"In our view the set up with Ski Famille ticks…"
14-Feb-2008
In our view the set up with Ski Famille ticks all the important boxes for our family (2 children aged 4 and 20 months). We could not believe how well it worked. The Chalet bedrooms and very family frendly with separate but connected bedrooms for us and the children. The lovely nannies come to the chalet every morning and so there was no mad rush to get everyone ready and the child:nanny ratio was fantastic and the activities were really fun. Our 4 year old had the best holiday ever and so did we!! We were free to relax, have time to ourselves and ski ski ski! the food and chalet hosts were all excellent. We will definitely go back next year.

"Excellent all round. Staff are all very knowledgable and personable.…"
21-Jul-2007
Excellent all round. Staff are all very knowledgable and personable. Pre-dinner drinks and nibbles are the highlight of the day - and a great incentive to get the kids to bed quickly - followed by fab three course meals. Childcare was very successful - basically they do what you want them to each day - and the children really loved the nannies, who totally filled me with confidence. The chalet itself is huge, well equipped and very comfy. All good! You make your own way to Geneva (we took the train - lovely) and then the courtesy bus from the company takes you the remaining hour or so. Resort is perfect for famillies. We adults have probably covered most of the pistes in a week but could have gone to the next resort if we had wanted. Will do that next year...
