"Eco-friendly and family friendly…"
Situated a stone's throw from the sandy beaches of Bournemouth, the Green House is a modern boutique hotel built on an ethos of ecological sustainability. This 32 room, Grade II listed Victorian villa was given a £5m renovation for its launch, with a focus on natural products and sustainable chic.
Though the environment is at the forefront of everything the hotel does, they don't feel a need to shout about it. Dig a little deeper and you'll discover that extensive research has gone into minimising the ecological impact at every turn – from the materials used for the interior design, to on-site solar power and water saving showers. The rooms are welcoming, luxurious and comfortable, with each being well equipped and subtly decked out in wood, tactile fabrics, metal and glass.
I was staying as part of The Green House's Designer Beach Pod Break: a three-night eco-stay in a double room, with access to a designer Beach Pod at nearby Boscombe.
The break includes breakfast each morning, a three course dinner in the Arbor restaurant one event.
The family loved the stylish beach pod - ithas a Wayne and Geraldine Hemingway designed feature wall, plus a kettle, microwave, table and chairs. The roomy balcony overlooks Boscombe's golden sands, whilst the surf schools and sea front eateries offer plenty of options for some fun in the sun.
There isn't much at the hotel for children to do but, with Bournemouth and Boscombe pier just five minutes walk away, that wasn't a problem for us.
Looking forward to returning this summer! We may also make a pitstop for lunch on Easter Sunday - inventive roast dinners made with food sourced within 50 miles of the hotel. Perfect for an eco-conscious mum.Read moreLess
