"Fabulous family-friendly hotel with private beach…"
If you're looking for an Enid Blyton-esque style family holiday, then look no further. The Priory Bay Hotel covers 70 acres of prime headland on the east side of the Isle of Wight, with brilliant views over the sea, and more importantly, has its own private beach. <br><br>We stayed in one of the luxury yurts which pop up around the grounds for the summer season - there are currently three of these with plans for more next summer and they're incredibly popular. Our yurt complete with carpet, heating, electricity and a separate attached mini-yurt bathroom with loo and roll-top bath - was seriously luxurious. But the key selling point was its proximity to the beach. At night-time we saw and listened to the waves breaking on the beach, which was the perfect antidote to city life and coincidentally a white-noise soundtrack that had our nine-year-old asleep in a nanosecond. The yurts feature a double bed and can include beanbag beds for up to two children. They also come with a yurt butler who'll help with everything from arranging breakfast on your balcony to arranging horse-riding lessons. <br><br>We got our butler Laura to arrange lessons on the Saturday at Sally's Riding School where a range of bright, enthusiastic horse-mad teachers will take children out either on solo or group riding lessons on the nearby beaches.
