"I won a trip to Jersey and I finally got…"
I won a trip to Jersey and I finally got to realise my 20+ yr old dream a few days ago, courtesy of bmibaby who were looking for a family to experience Jersey as a holiday location and report/tweet their findings.
We had a family weekend at the Merton Hotel in Jersey. The hotel is about 15 minutes away from the airport by hire car.
Recently refurbished, The Merton Hotel prides itself on being family friendly, so we did our best to test this. One of its newest attractions is the Flowrider - learn to surf without the hassle of paddling out to sea.
As DS was too small to try this one (and mum & dad too chicken), we spent the afternoon inside the lifeguard-patrolled Aquadome instead, paradise for kids! There are various water slides suitable for all ages, a lazy river, many hot tubs and even a huge outdoor pool the weather wasn't obliging enough for us to brave the stiff breeze, so we stuck to the indoor fun. We'd still be there today if we hadn't dragged Ed away screaming, he loved it so much.
If you're hygiene conscious, you'll love the squirty sanitizer gel dispensers outside the restaurant - the hotel is keen to minimise any threat of Norovirus in any way possible. This extends to the high chairs having shrink-wrap over the food tray section until it's time to put your little one in the seat.
The range of food at the buffet was pretty good - and a vast improvement on what we'd endured the week before at Disneyland Paris. Having more than one option for me as the token vegetarian was well received!
One or two things would have made the eating experience better for us - highchairs without trays that just fit up closer to the table, and having cutlery for little mouths.
If you want to enjoy some time to yourselves without the children being around, the hotel provides a creche facility just inside the restaurant entrance -Read moreLess
