"Went to Cameron House for a 3 night stay in…"
30-Dec-2010
Went to Cameron House for a 3 night stay in November and must say that my experience vastly differs from the other reviewer, but I guess not everywhere can be good all the time, although you would like to think so with this being a 5 star hotel and the prices they charge!
Our room was lovely, we had 2 standard connecting rooms and managed to get checked into them them an hour earlier than the 3pm official check-in time.
Service was absolutely brilliant and the children were made to feel very welcome - reception staff, concierge, waiting staff in all the restaurants were just brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble.
Menu in the Cameron Grill was good although a little bit limited but the ambience and menu down at The Boathouse was perfect, a lovely setting at lunch to sit back and watch the mist roll in over the loch.
Pool was great fun for the kids and we mixed that with some good walking, so enough for us to do during our short stay but if we were to return for longer would need to come back more in 'season' so could explore the Loch and other lovely areas nearby. Will definitely return at some point!Read moreLessMumsnetter FlipperBay

"The initial service was really disappointing. The room wasn't ready,…"
10-Sep-2010
The initial service was really disappointing. The room wasn't ready, we were sent off to a restaurant (in the grounds) which was fully booked for a private function, and then it took an hour for the kids lunch of Boiled Egg and Soldiers to arrive - which was just ridiculous. They'd forgotten to put out an extra child's bed in the room, and then charged for the crazy golf we took them off too to wait till the room was ready. However, the room was OK (but only in as much as we got a cheap deal). I'd have been furious if we'd paid anything like the full rate.
Dirty windows, holes in the wall where the wrong sized TV had been inserted, and the only "children's channel" on the TVs was a horrible commercial one for teens. What's wrong with the BBC? Great food in the grill restaurant though, and lovely bed linen. Nice pool too, and we all loved the air hockey.Read moreLessMumsnetter escorchio
