"great to see kids taking part…"
Makes a change from Notting Hill carnival. I was at last year's Knighton carnival and loved how small and low-key it was, so am going again this year. Also great to see lots of kids taking part and not just watching. Carnival day is last Sat in August (31), so hoping for a good weekend away before school restarts. What I liked best was not the daytime procession but the one they did in the dark later on. Magic! At Offa Dyke House where we were satying, we could literally watch the goings on out of the front window. But lots of other places to stay if you look it up. A great place for a holiday with kids, lots of walks and places to do cross-country off road cycling, and the local Knighton observatory worth a visit. Best tip: stay central and walk everywhere, or leave your car in the car park just outside town, oh and make sure to walk down to the river Teme esp if your kids have bikes, as there is a very cool little dirt track that the local kids built themselves. Made me wish I was 13 again and could give it a try!Read moreLess
