My daughter has just returned from Osmington Bay.
Headlines: poor food. Canned spaghetti for breakfast. Disinterested staff. Sailing cancelled. Overpriced. Of course, that depends on the school. We paid £245 for 2 nights; other schools paid £300 for 4 nights. Farcical!Read moreLess

"Fab family fun…"
PGL are better known for providing activity holidays for school groups and children during the holidays, however they also provide family holidays and we went on a 4 night break to Osmington Bay. It was a fantastic location, greatly helped by a week of glorious sunshine. The accommodation (and this was the only downpoint really) was very basic, 4 of us in bunkbeds, with an en-suite shower room – that said once the holiday got underway we really only went there to get changed and sleep and it was bearable for 4 nights. There was a separate lounge with tea and coffee available.
We chose this holiday as we wanted more activities that we could do together – and PGL really delivered. We had a go at dragon boating, trapeze, zip wire, archery, sailing, orienteering, sensory trail and aeroball. The water-based activities were a particular highlight at Osmington, we were coached down to a watersports centre in Weymouth and had fantastic instruction and great fun. For all the activities we felt very safe, the instructors were knowledgeable and experienced at managing children. If you didn’t want to take part in an activity there was easy access to the beach and you could easily spend a couple of hours pottering down there.
In the evenings there were activities provided which you could either join in with as a family or the instructors took your children off, while we sat in the bar – which only the family groups had access to. The food was plentiful and it was possible to make relatively healthy choices for each meal – there was always salad available at lunch and dinner for example. It was a really friendly environment and all the families with us had a lot of fun.
If you want a more active holiday this is a great choice, and actually very good value – all the activities, food and accommodation are included and there are offers available for early/late bookings. I’d really recommend this for families who normally go to centreparcs and then shell out a fortune for extras. For us 4 nights was enough, our boys were exhausted but we’ll definitely be going again!Read moreLess
