"Really enjoyed our stay here, even though this was our…"

Really enjoyed our stay here, even though this was our first visit to a French campsite so we have nothing to compare it to. Myself, DH and our DD (aged 2.6) stayed here for 3 nights on the way somewhere else, and liked it so much we cancelled our hotel we'd booked for the return, and stayed here again instead. We were in a static home rather than a tent, which was very clean, well equipped and had nice welcome touches in the form of little toiletries hotel-style, and a welcome bottle of vino in the fridge!
The campsite was quiet, with a relaxing atmosphere, and had everything you would need - a shop, bar/restaurant, 3 swimming pools (one with a water slide). The toddler pool was perfect for dd - a big climbing frame/slide in the middle which kept her entertained for hours so we were able to relax on the side. There were also pony rides, bikes to hire, golf course, tennis court, and several playgrounds.
The area: Fell in love with Saumur - a beautiful town on the river with nice places to eat and a good variety of shops to potter around. Although we didn't venture anywhere else as we weren't there for long, there were loads of attractions advertised nearby, including a zoo.
Negative points: The food in the restaurant/takeaway - we arrived quite late and hungry on the first night so dh went off to get something for us to eat and came back with a bag of cold chips and 2 tiny overcooked burgers - after waiting 45 minutes for his order. The menu was fairly standard - burgers/chips/pizza/pasta. The shop was ok - croissants weren't as fresh as a local boulangerie, and everything quite expensive, but convenient for the first night/things you have forgotten.
Overall we liked this place, and loved Saumur and would definitely stay here again.Read moreLessMumsnetter wellieboot

The site is especially Toddler friendly with safety gates on the swimming pool to stop the children getting in by accident. A fantastic toddler pool and great friendly facilities.

Lovely campsite, quiet and peaceful, only a few miles drive fron Saumur. Pitches have some shade, good clean toilets and showers plus baby baths.
Sepatate toddler pool, main pools big enough to keep a 7 & 10 year old happy.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.
