"To be fair, we 'glamped' here, rather than camped as"
04-Jan-2012
To be fair, we 'glamped' here, rather than camped as we booked one of the two beautiful Roulottes (gypsy caravans) on site, which was very cosy and full of character, however there are also pitches for tents on site.
From the moment we arrived, we were given a very warm welcome (and umbrellas, it was pouring!) from the owners Paul and Zoe and the children enjoyed a lift down to the Roulotte in a Tractor.
There was a welcome basket of goodies in our Roulotte with home made jam, butter, french bread and wine which was a lovely touch. During the course of our stay, the owners were so helpful, Paul even showed us to gut a fish, which I really think does go above and beyond! Fresh croissants/pastries and bread were delivered to our Roulotte each morning.
The Roulotte itself was very cosy, sleeping me, DH and our two young children. I would definitely recommend for couples and young families but would imagine it would be a bit of a squeeze for families with older children.
The camp site has great facilities, and as it never gets overbooked there was never a queue for the showers or washing up sink. There was always plenty of room in the fridge and freezers for our food.
The Site also has a hot tub and swimming pond where you can literally swim amongst the lilypads as well as lots of friendly animals. Children can explore the site safely.
There is lots to do in the local area including visiting the lovely beaches in the area, Kayaking or a drive out to Bayeaux to see the tapestry. I would also recommend the Moules Frites night at the Chateau, this was a lovely opportunity to meet our fellow campers over a glass of wine and the food was top notch!
All in all, we loved our stay at the Chateau and would definitely recommend this site.Read moreLessMumsnetter SilverMachine
