"May 2011 (half term week), we camped in our own"
08-Jun-2011
May 2011 (half term week), we camped in our own tent, with our 5 and 7 year old children. Keycamp and Eurocamp are also on site, they have tents and there are mobile homes. Lovely campsite for young families, very attractive, built around a chateau and it's outbuildings, it had an excellent indoor swimming pool complex, nice warm outdoor pool and a good play area too, also bouncy castles up for the children, all included in the pitch price. Even though the site had a lot of vacant pitches, the pool was quite crowded towards the end of the week, which was a French public holiday, which did make me think it might be a problem at peak times in the summer holidays. The rule about men only being allowed to wear Speedos in the pool was strictly enforced.
The shop was good for essentials and you can order baguettes etc for the next morning. The bar and takeaway were fine, the food was not brilliant but perfectly adequate, mainly pizzas and things with chips, also a selection of fresh salads which were very good. All the staff were friendly and spoke English. There was no entertainment, which suited us, although there was a big TV playing sports channels in the bar and the usual bar football, plus a small room with pinball type games. The toilets were clean and warm, one block was unisex, the other that we used had mens cubicles opposite ladies so some segregation but not total The showers were very good.
The site also had a fishing lake, a tennis court, bike hire and a big empty field for playing games in. The pitches are completely or partly enclosed by low hedges. There is a big supermarket about 2 mins drive away. We would definitely consider returning.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
