"The location of this site s fantastic and our pitch"
27-May-2010
The location of this site s fantastic and our pitch was backing onto the dunes where we could hear the crashing waves during the night (which we loved).
We are very keen to go back to the Ile de Re but are not sure whether we will go back to Camping Interlude as they had a corporate event on one weekend of our stay whereby the site was taken over by a company for its staff and the restaurant and swinmming pool were closed to all other guests (and there were a good number) and unfortunately they had a party with lights and loud music going on till after 2 am two nights running for this event! Sound travels on a clear evening and especially when you are living in a tent!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"We went the middle two weeks of August, and to"
24-Sep-2009
We went the middle two weeks of August, and to be honest I wouldn't recommend it. The campsite is big and very, very busy; it's like going on holiday to Piccadilly Circus. The pool was a disappointment - neither of mine wanted to spend any time there because it was too cold and nothing to amuse non-swimmers - and the emplacements weren't so much sandy as DIRTY. I spent two weeks trying to get the filth out of my feet.
The beach is great, but again fantastically busy. Basically, avoid in August - everyone in Paris decamps to the Ile de Re apparently, and it shows! If I go again I'll definitely aim for out-of-season. The island itself is absolutely lovely, by the way - it's just the campsite and the crowding I have issues with.Read moreLessMumsnetter policywonk

"We went last two weeks of July this year and"
07-Aug-2008
We went last two weeks of July this year and everything was open. We loved it - friendly, shady campsite with lots of trees, and great beach. The pool was a bit disappointing in that it's fenced right by it, so you can either sit on loungers (and there aren't enough) or be in the pool. Fine for littlies but any children who've been to one of those sites with enormous lagoons with waterslides wouldn't think much. But the beach is gorgeous. Agree on all the other points - shop expensive, loos/showers good and always clean - and especially on having no hire car and just using bikes on the utterly brilliant cycle paths all week - felt like a teenager again! We would go back - loved Ile de Re. My only concern would be what on earth you would do on this site if it rained solidly as then you'd need a car - there's not much under cover at the campsite.
We went with Canvas - expensive but very good tent and great site. And the kids' club was a hit.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"I really like this site, I've only ever been out"
06-Aug-2008
I really like this site, I've only ever been out of season (June and September)...but it has a good feel. I stayed in the section named 'F' and this feels 'woody' and sand duney - it has sandy emplacements. The on site restaurant and children's playground is average, a little bit disappointing I suppose. The pool is definately lacking - the exterior pool is cold and the interior (covered) pool is very small and overlooked by diners which can be a bit offputting - like being watched in the bath!
The staff are friendly and helpful. The wash blocks and laundry rooms are very clean and well equipped. Shop is well equipped and pricey. The best aspect of this site is the relaxed/friendly ambience and location on the ile de re - it's virtually on the beach and is an easy cycle to la flotte, cuarde and st martin. I would stay there again (and I recommend fly-bike - into la rochelle, 16k taxi ride over a toll bridge (9 euros toll charge out of season - more in peak summer), 50 euros on bikes for the week - child seats and trailers rented by the campsite.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
"We went first 2 weeks in July and everything was"
30-Jul-2008
We went first 2 weeks in July and everything was most def open. Dont know about babysitting as we didnt need it but pool area brilliant although not enough loungers.
Shop extremely well stocked. Resturant and takeaway expensive but convenient although service a little slow. Showers and toilets very clean and only once in 2 weeks of peak season did I struggle to get a hot shower.
We had a large shady pitch and my only gripe was site very dusty and sandy. Ok I know its a beach holiday but when it rained we had nice mud pies everywhere!
Site is 50 meters from a fabulous beach with great waves for body building and of course the best thing and for which everyone goes to the Ile de Re is the fab family friendly cycling. We shall go again.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"Might have been good in peak season, but everything closed"
16-May-2008
Might have been good in peak season, but everything closed down in the camp site off peak, which meant no restaurant, shop was closed more often than not, outdoor pool was not open and (most importantly) NO BABYSITTING! However, it was comfortable-ish and the toilet/washing facilities were fine (for off peak)
