"This was a lovely easy place to stay. Simple booking"
04-Oct-2011
This was a lovely easy place to stay. Simple booking and registration, nice large pitch for our Outwell Hartford XL, car, table etc, very clean new facilities and a pleasant family atmosphere (mainly Dutch and Belgian families with some English and French).
In a lovely valley with a cycle route passing nearby. You can cycle to Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, where there are restaurants, an interesting chateau and canoeing/kayaking. In fact there are 5 chateaux and several very picturesque towns within easy cycle or driving distance. The nearest large town is Sarlat.
There's a pizzeria near the camp site but the best find was the village brasserie, which does upmarket restaurant quality food and is a short walk away across the fields. There's a good value 3 course set menu. There's also a small organic supermarket in the village, but it was pricey.
On the campsite itself there's 3 swimming pools and a games room, an outdoor kids playground, an open space for football etc, and a river running through and by the site that kids can play in safely. It's a quiet site at night, no noisy "animations" or discos - nothing organised at all, in fact. Bread van and wine/veg and fruit sellers do visit though. All in all, this was an easy relaxing break and our children had a great time - we'd definitely return.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
