"The news of a forthcoming Zingzillas album was greeted with…"
01-Oct-2010
The news of a forthcoming Zingzillas album was greeted with huge excitement in this house and now it is here, it has more than lived up to expectations (and a LOT of repeat playing). All too often, it seems that composers feel they have to dumb down their work for little ones to make it accessible - here that is definitely not the case. With a range of genres that would befit a GCSE music recommended listening list, the pint sized listeners are treated to the cerebral delights of Ragas in "Bhangra Beats";, Bebop improvisation in "Let's Hear You Scat"; and frantic Ska syncopation in "Moving House."; That is before you consider the sheer fun to be had from listening to the seriously cool Hammond organ of Dr Lonnie Smith or the fabulous energy of the Hiten Ryu Daika Drummers. Educational and fun at the same time? Absolutely.
If that's not enough then we have the strong positive role models for both genders: Girls who lay down drum grooves, and funky bass guitar licks and boys who admit they're nervous about playing, playing tricky solos. Zingzillas - The Album has the older fans in the house stroking their chins in admiration while the 2 year old dances in circles squealing with delight. Best Big Zing ever.Read moreLessMumsnetter Wurzelgirl
