"... one of the best things to disappear up the hoover.…"
Yes, the girls loved them. Loads of imaginitive play. It used to be a day out for them, visiting the Sylvanian shop in London, listing the families they would eventually like to have. But now dds are 13 and 14 I can safely admit: Sylvanian families and their accompanying paraphenalia were the best things after Hama beads and dirt to disappear up the hoover.Read moreLess
""There's endless fun to be had once you start collecting…"
"There's endless fun to be had once you start collecting the Sylvanian Family range - my daughter gets hours of pleasure just from looking at the catalogue. There are lots of animal families, houses and all the furniture. It's solidly made with incredible detail and exactly the sort of thing I would have loved when I was about five years old." "The canal boat has been a particular success in our house. It can be loaded up and pushed across the floor from one place to another,as well as used as a house etc. You can use all sorts of toys with it and it has proved stronger than other similar toys we have acquired over the years".Read moreLess

What's great about Sylvanian Families is that you can spend just a few pounds or a large amount depending on your budget. We started out small to make sure the boredom factor didn't kick in. My little girl loves her collection and I find they make great birthday presents for her friends.Read moreLess
"started collecting when dd about 31/2 & she absolutely loves…"
started collecting when dd about 31/2 & she absolutely loves them! although they recommend 4 & up, maybe cos of the fiddly parts & some very small accessories (not great for smaller siblings!). really nice quality figures with removable clothes (with velcro fastenings that little fingers can just about manage)& moveable arms & legs. houses etc a little plastic-y on first impressions but do the job & the little figures make their way into loads of other toys around the house (dolls house/cars etc). bit pricy but will be enjoyed for years judging from the much older girls spotted buying s.f!Read moreLess

These little beasts are the bane of my life. Disgustingly over-priced teensy tiny bits and pieces which get all too easily lost and broken.
They ARE cute though.Read moreLess

"My daughter loves Sylvanian families. she enjoys playing with them…"
My daughter loves Sylvanian families. she enjoys playing with them in their 'Sylvanian home' but has also in her dolls house, (she has lnked the summer house up to the dolls house). Nice that they encourage lots of imaginative play.
Only down side is that they are quite pricey - but they do seem to last, so could do for mor ethan once child.
I can also echo other reviewers in that there is a lot of fun to be had in just looking at the catalogue.
A good choice as an alternative for children who arn't so keen on dolls.Read moreLess

She loves all the little animals, but at 4yrs she is still finding the small bits a little bit fiddly.
Lots of scope though, and plenty of time to grow into them.
Word of warning... little brothers love the snapping noise that the furniture makes!!!Read moreLess
