Animation Studio, Hue

We have one of these HUE kits as well and my DS (13) is glued to it during school holidays. He makes action movies with lego figures and puts them on youTube. I've also seen him making some HILARIOUS lego comedy versions of his favourite shows with all of the funny voices which my LO loves watching over and over. How do they think of these things??

Therefore, I agree with the review but want to add that the recommended age range seems too limited. There is no reason older children and mummies can't have a blast making their own cartoons with playdoh and lego too!

Fun, affordable and creative. This complete animation kit and webcam is very popular with my 6 and 8 year old.
There is nothing difficult about it. The software is really quick to set up and easy to use so all your effort is put into thinking up stories and making characters to feature in them.

The idea is very straight forward. You take a picture of your subject by pressing a button, do a small movement and then take another picture and keep repeating it until you have a whole series of photographs. When you play it back it looks like the character is moving all by itself! As well as this it allows you to edit it afterwards and add music and text.

I bought a kit for a PC but it is available for Mac too. The camera can also be used by itself and doesn't have to be part of the animation software, which is handy for using as a webcam for skype.

All in all I am very impressed. It's very unique and not like other products I have seen around recently. This is no one hit wonder either but something that my kids will use over and over again.

This pack includes a good camera for small hands which aids the making of good quality films. The software in the pack is called Zu3D www.zu3d.com and can be bought separately if you already own a decent webcam and do not want to spend so much money. The software is what makes this pack so good for children as it just so easy to use and allows children to make films independently. At the end you have the option to upload your film to a moderated Zu3D gallery where all films are checked to be suitable for children as well as all comment that are made about the films. This is a product that is made with families and children in mind. You can even try the software for free from the Zu3D website before you commit to buy.

Called Hue Animation Studio, it's easy-to-use computer software and camera that allows kids to make their own little Aardman-style movies using Plasticine models they have crafted themselves.
They can then upload their efforts on to YouTube, via the Hue website, for all the world to see.
Me and my six-year-old spent ages dreaming up storylines, crafting the models required, then using the stop-motion animation software to make a little movie. We are already planning our next epic.
