It's a fun game to play together. My five year old is learning quickly to ask good questions and we enjoy the time together.

Comments from other mumsnetters: A great game for a four/five year old. When my son received it for his birthday I groaned because he never really got into toys and also initially setting it up does take a bit of time. However, it's a really good simple idea for a game and we've played it over and over and as yet haven't broken or lost any of the pieces. It's a great game and one that I actually enjoy playing as much as my son. It encourages using observational skills and also teaches children how to work things through by process of elimination. "There's also a travel Guess Who".

"I encouraged a grandparent to buy Guess Who for DS…"
04-Mar-2009
I encouraged a grandparent to buy Guess Who for DS (four) at Christmas because I'd loved it as a child, and thought he might like it. I was right!
As other reviewers have said, initial set-up is a minor faff, but after that, it's all set for instant play.
Guess Who reinforces the diversity of people - that they all come in different shapes, sizes and colours. It's a useful platform for learning how to carefully observe and eliminate cleverly - and it reinforces early reading skills.
To be able to play, you have to keep "translating" in your head between a yes or no response - for example, "Does your person have blue eyes?" "Yes." You eliminate *brown* eyes. Or, "Does your person have blue eyes?" "No." You eliminate *blue* eyes. It can seem easy, but I know adults (i.e. my dad, who DS continually beats!) who struggle with this, so Guess Who is a great game for encouraging this kind of lateral thinking (if that's what it is).
DS likes it so much, he has decided to have a couple of games of Guess Who in place of half his bedtime stories!
A quick, fun, simple and subtly educational game. Really recommend it.Read moreLess"My DD got this game at Christmas and got so…"

My DD got this game at Christmas and got so much fun out of it. The games are quick and the whole family can join in. It helps the child to eliminate all the faces by asking questions until they have one left. Even though it is for six years plus our 5 year old managed it perfectly.

We bought the travel version of this for our daughter when she was 4 and she loved it - and you don't need to be able to read to play it, which helps.

A great game to encourage children to take turns and improve their observational skills and powers of deduction. After a few plays they get to understand quick ways of eliminating bigger numbers of people. We have the full version and the travel version, the latter being great for wet days on holiday.

We loved Guess Who when were children so got the game for our son once he was old enough. I am not sure the quality is as good as it was - the plastic seems more flimsy and sometimes the cards fall out of the slots.
But it is a great game and our two children love playing it. My daughter is only 4 and can't read but she can play on her own right up until it is time to guess the name. A good, fairly quick game for two children to play together.Read moreLessMumsnetter bozza

A family favourite in our house! My DDs (10 & 4) aren't really into board games but this one comes out again and again. Good if you have children with a large age-gap as games like this one seem to bridge the gap and keep everyone happy. I believe they have brought out a new updated version, which I'm looking out for as Christmas is fast approaching! I think it would be improved with more faces in the game and more options for questions.
