A lovely gift. Can be presented with something special in mind or for the receiver to decide what the money is eventually spent on - one idea is a weekend away (child free) for the parents! Takes a while to fill and amount collected depends what coins are put into it.Read moreLess

The trouble with these, tbh, is that they look quite tacky. The writing is done with those gold bubble pens. I really didn't think it looked nice.Read moreLess

"If you have anyone to buy for this Christmas who…"
If you have anyone to buy for this Christmas who has a new baby, then look no further than a Terramundi Money Pot for a gift they will absolutely adore. You can buy the money pots decorated in all sorts of different designs, but the Pot I have bought for my little granddaughter is a pure white one with the word BABY prettily inscribed in an off-white colour.
The Terramundi is an ancient Italian concept and is basically a large earthenware pot with a slot for coins and bank notes to be deposited, the twist being that to get to the cash you will have to smash this beautiful pot so you're not likely to break into your little one's savings for anything other than something very special. The 'proper' way to do it is fill the pot, smash it and use part of the money to buy another Terramundi and start the cycle again.
This particular Terramundi came with a small piece of paper and the instructions to write on my goal for the money this pot will eventually yield, I think at 18 months old my granddaughter is a little young to enjoy this part but I will ask her mum to write down what she is saving for and pop the paper into the Terramundi with her first deposit of coins.
I think these Terramundi Money Pots look absolutely beautiful, I have had a few over the years and when I saw this one on Amazon I just had to buy it for my granddaughter. The shape of the pot puts me in mind of a typical genie lamp, I know it looks nothing like a lamp at all but the tops look to be inspired by an Arabian design so I shall always think of rubbing my Terramundi and making a wish to a happy genie!
