Flowers are nice but the best gift I had when my baby was born, was a bunch of flowers which if you look closer, were actually pairs of baby socks and tops! They were absolutely beautiful and once you tire of it, you can dismantle the flowers and the baby can wear the clothes. I have been buying these flowers as gifts for all my friends who are new parents and it never ceases to please me to see how delighted and amazed they are with the gift. The website for this would be babyblooms.co.ukRead moreLess

Definately a lovely idea. Often with a new baby you get a lot of flowers and therefore plants growing in a basket or similar are nice because they last longer and need only a little care.
(I remember a friend bursting into tears over some cut flowers that wouldn't stand up properly! sometimes new mums need nothing else to worry about ;) )Read moreLess

"After my first born, we realised how few vases we possessed! Someone bought me a flower arrangement in a basket which was perfect." "A friend sent me flowers two weeks after my baby was born, which was great. All the other flowers had died and I was just beginning to feel like I wasn't special any more.""Don't send flowers to the hospital. As lovely as it is to receive them, there's no space really to put them and bringing them home with out wrecking them is an added stress that the new mother could well do without.Read moreLess
