I think that essential oils are a very luxurious and versatile gift for new parents. Aromatherapy is powerful and scents can effect us strongly, so it's best to go with 'safe' smells.
Lavender, rose, jasmine and citrus aromas like manderin, lime, bergamot etc are good, as are chamomile and ylang ylang.
A base oil like almond oil means that the essential oils can be used for massage or in the bath.
A book on baby massage is a good gift to go with this.
For the ultimate in PFB preciousness, go for organic oils.Read moreLess

"Lavender oil is essential for new mums with stitches, it can also be used in tiny doses in baby's bath to aid restful sleep. Other oils can be used for mum to pamper herself in those rare moments, or for mum and dad to pamper each other in those even rarer coupled moments - an absolutely brilliant gift". "Bath oils were uplifting and luxurious in a time of tears and tiredness. It just made me feel good." "It was great to receive a present for myself amongst all those for the baby."Read moreLess
