"Nothing gets the cameras out like a new baby but…"
04-Jul-2008
Nothing gets the cameras out like a new baby but for photos you'll want to pore over for years to come, your best bet is to get the professionals in. Specifically Baby Shine.
This isn't a generic "parent with new baby" style photo -it's art. Except you instantly recognise it because it's you and your baby and your home although your sofa doesn't look drab and the smiles don't feel posed or look cheesy in any way.
Jo the photographer blends the art and the professional look of the studio with the comfort and familiarity of your home with awesome results. She'd already spent some time with me a week before my due date to capture the "pregnant pause" so I felt comfortable with her.
Then when our son was just six days old, she came back to meet the new arrival. She was unobtrusive but helpful in directing us about our new daily routine to obtain the quiet joy of the first few days with a new baby - I felt happy breastfeeding in front of her, even though my milk had only been in a couple of days and I was new to everything!
The best part was going to the studio to view our photographs on a big screen with a glass of champagne. Only then did we realise quite what a fantastic job Jo had done - we were both in tears. This is an amazing experience, and while photography of this quality doesn't come cheap, it's more than worth the money.
So if people ask you what you'd like when the new baby comes along, ask for this or invest in it yourself!Read moreLessMumsnetter OliviaMumsnet
