Chocolates, especially posh choccies are a great gift for any new mum. I found I needed the energy they gave me when breastfeeding, and as I couldn't drink alcohol, it was a lovely treat. Everyone always brings gifts for newborn babies, but mum's also need a treat. I made sure everyone knew I did not want flowers (I guessed I would not have the time to trim stems etc), so requested lots of chocolates, and these did not disappoint.

My dad always gets me an enormous box of serious chocolates when I give birth (almost makes it all worth-while ;-)) and it's the most welcome gift of all.

Yum Yum and more Yum! The Ferrari of Chocolates, unfortunately i didn't receive these but my mum did and i enjoyed sharing them with her, each one was beautifully made. I have dropped plenty of hints to Dp for Mothers Day so fingers crossed i'll get a box..all to myself!

A little bit of luxury. I couldn't eat chocolate when I was pregnant and what better way to start eating it again....

I convinced DH that chocolate was a well-known cure for the baby blues and consquently recieved a bar each day for weeks after the birth! There is some science to my theory, endorphins to cheer you up, calories to pep you up especially if you're breastfeeding and just a little me-time reward for your hard day's work.
Montezuma's are the best, high cocoa count and lots of varieties that you simply HAVE to sample. When you've found your favourite, programme it in to your DP's head so you will always get something nice for birthdays, Christmas etc.
