"Rolls Royce of buggies…"
10-May-2013
I've had a few pushchairs now and this is by far the best. Trying to buy cheaper was a very expensive mistake, I should have got this from the start. Handles beautifully, comfy for baby/ toddler, pretty much pushes itself, looks good. I love it. A one piece fold is the only improvement I would make.

11-Apr-2013
I've used this buggy through 2 children over 4.5 years and frankly it's fantastic. The fact that you can adjust so much on it, the suspension, the way the baby faces, rear or front steering to manage terrain. And a big roomy shopping basket. Its fab!

The carry cot is incredible, the rain cover (it comes with the baggie) fits very well and easy to fit in while in a hurry.
The three inclining positions is a plus. My daughter loves being in there and I bought an extra cozy wool mat to keep Her warm in winter.. Can't fault it in anyway.Read moreLessMumsnetter shadesofwhite

"Love it…"
01-Feb-2013
Used every Bugaboo under the sun- and the Cameleon doesn't disappoint me!
The price tag is a rather large one and yes, there are cheaper options available that people love- but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for.
Have used a Cameleon for over 4 years now- the 1st, 2nd and now the 3rd alongside my Donkey.
The pros:
-Will turn on a sixpence. It really is lightweight, even with a heavy toddler sat in it.
-Height adjustable handle...imperative when I am 5ft2 and my husband is over 6ft!
-Looks classy and sleek- I hate prams that look like cheap plastic tat. No plastic in sight with the Bugaboo cameleon.
-Easily interchange fabrics. Lots of variation too
-Wide range of accessories- footmuffs, parasols, phone holders, cupholders
Cons:
-Yes, the basket is hard to access in carrycot mode- however, I do use pram clips to hang large amounts of shopping on and putting the odd pint of milk and a bag of carrots into the basket takes 10 seconds- not really a big deal and certainly shouldn't be a deal breaker.
-Yes, the carseat can be a little difficult to attach- there defiantly is a knack. But practice makes perfect. Not testing these things out isn't a good idea!
-Yes, the seat fabric can be tight to get on- however get someone to lean in on oneside of the frame and it easily slips on.
-Can be a little difficult to work out at first- but again practice makes perfect. The new Cameleon3 makes folding and unfolding even easier.Read moreLessMumsnetter ElenaKnight

"AMAZING…"

I must say, this is the porsche out of the prams but it is worth every penny! It is roomy and fairly easy to fold down, it has endless accessories and what most important for me everything is washable and changeable, so it can last very long time. Also for people like me that get bored of things fast, amazing, as you can buy new covers and transfer the pram completely! I simply LOVE IT !

"Glad I didn't buy it new!…"
20-Dec-2012
I bought a second hand Cameleon on a bit of a whim when pregnant with DC3 as I'd never had a decent pram with the other 2 and I heard it was the "must have" pushchair.
I have to say I have very mixed feelings about it. It took ages for us to get the hang of folding and unfolding. It is quick to fold when you know how but its really not obvious at all from the instructions, you need someone to show you and then show you agian when you forget.... The grandparents havent got a hope in hell!
The carrycot is quite low down when on the chassis and is made from fabric suspended on a metal frame with velcro fasteners. When I took it apart I was surprised how basic the construction was. DH. a keen cyclist, was shocked at the build quality for the frame and other parts compared to what you would get on a bike that cost a similar amount to a Bugaboo.
We wanted to use the carrycot for overnight sleeping when travelling. Although the instructions show the carry cot can be used placed directly on the ground (eg for use overnight when travelling), it doesnt feel safe to do this in practice as the ends are only held up by lengths of plastic (like small rulers) velcroed into each end of the carry cot. It seemed to us the carrycot could collapse under the weight of the frame with the baby inside.
The "bumper bar" really gets in the way, particularly in carrycot mode and we have ended up using the pushchair without it.
I also struggled to use the car seat adapters with the Maxi Cosi car seat. I could never get the car seat on the adapters right first time, sometimes it would connect on one side but not the other...
A more serious problem is that the pushchair unit is really too large for use until 6 months, but by 4 months my DD would cry if put in the pram lying flat as she wanted to see out, so we had to change to the pushchair unit. I used a pushchair liner which helped as the straps were far too long for her. Unless you buy a second frame then you cant switch between pram and pushchair easily as you need to remove one set of fabrics and put the other on.
I couldnt believe that a pram which is marketable as suitable from birth - 4 years was failing me after 4 months!
The other major flaw with the pushchair unit is that in lie flat mode, the child has their feet up in the air, as it is designed as a "bucket seat". This seems like an uncomfortable and unnatural position for naps.
On the plus side, it is very light and manouverable with one hand. I still use it and DD is nearly 2. However we do a lot of walking around town locally, school runs etc. I dont use it as much if I've got to go somewhere in the car. Ive had a lot of use out of it but Im glad I didnt pay for a new one.Read moreLessMumsnetter pinkelephant73

"Simply not durable enough or worth the money…"
20-Dec-2012
For disclosure I am a father who has two daughters now aged two and four. I joined this site specifically to share my experience with the Cameleon. Overall, it is a decent stroller but not worth the money. About 6 years ago these were the "go to" stroller but the competition has improved their products drastically and copied many of the features that made this product unique.
In the four years since we have owned it I have had to replace the chassis which cost $200+ after something internally let go. I took it apart and saw it was low quality manufacturing that caused it but these products are modular in design and not meant to be repaired so I had to buy a new piece. Recently the white buttons which adjust the seat angle broke and required replacements which cost $20 + $20 shipping. These are used constantly and are designed with cheap plastic that is not meant to last. If you have one child and expect to use it for two years or so it will probably be fine. If you are considering buying a used one don't even think about it!
The bottom line parents, don't give in and buy this because it is the hip or cool stroller. It is of poor construction and will not hold up. If this stroller were $400 I would be fine with the materials used but at the cost I expected so much more. There are much more durable well made strollers on the market.Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

"Quite a good pram but overpriced…"
06-Nov-2012
I do like the pram and find it very light and easy to use but one of the big wheels has broken and we are waiting for a replacement after only 6 weeks of very occasional use. The response we got implies this is not an uncommon problem and it is irritating given how much we paid for it. The chassis seems quite insubstantial so I really hope it will last the course. The pram takes up a lot of room in the car.

"Great product - really happy with mine…"
29-May-2012
I bought this system after the disaster that is the Babystyle Oyster broke after 8 weeks. Overall I am really impressed with the Chameleon.
I live in a rural area and do not use public transport. Whatever I chose had to fit into the boot of a VW Golf, and had to be lightweight and simple (and an improvement on the Oyster!)
Pros of the chameleon:
Very easy to fold (I disagree with some of the reviews on here). Like many buggies when you release the catch to fold the chassis you need to move the handlebar ever so slightly at the same time, fold down literally takes 5 seconds, the whole thing swings shut and you can lift it with one hand into the car (and thatRead moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

12-May-2012
Outstanding travel system, it turns on a pin head, it's lightweight and easy to transport in the boot of a small car and I feel it is very durable. They are a bit pricey but for what you get, and the added extras you can buy (I bought some extra's off ebay!), it will last us till we have finished our family! I also loved the option of being able to put the baby car seat on the frame if you just wanted to nip out somewhere.

"Overall a great pram but a couple of frustrating features…"
26-Apr-2012
Overall a great pram but a couple of frustrating features to be aware of:
1) Basket underneath is useless when you have the carrycot fitted. For example, you can't access the basket to put a carrier bag of shopping into it. Instead I've had to take the individual items out the shopping bag & squeeze them through the gap into the basket....v annoying!
2) car seat adaptors - fitting the car seat onto the pram is very hit & miss. Maybe there is a knack to it but I haven't found it yet! I have to mess about with the seat several times before it finally clicks into place. Removing the car seat is equally frustrating as it requires both hands to unclip it which means you don't have a free hand to hold the handle...fine with a newborn but when your baby gets a lot heavier, this is seriously inconvenient and poorly designed.Read moreLess8 people found this review helpful.

"I have purchased my bugaboo for 2 reasons- lots of…"
11-Apr-2012
I have purchased my bugaboo for 2 reasons- lots of mums in my area has got it and always praised it and as a designes I liked the aesthetical ellement,(plenty of colour variations, easily replacable so if you are bored with you colours or original covers are too grubby or worn...
And the reality is that it is a possibly a good buggy if you havent tried anything else to compare it with.First the positive points
- easy to push and manouvre
-frame is narrow,so great for shopping and going to restaurants ( you dont need to use their uncomfy wooden highchairs as you can easily use bugaboo in upright position and swing the handle up)
-both the carry cot and the seat can face in either direction and the seat can be set in different reclining positions
-Easy to collapse the chassis. You can do it in one movement
-The height adjustable handlebar is great if people taller or shorter are pushing the pram.
-Large shopping basket
Now the negative points
-Impossible to get into basket when using cot
-It it very low and the carry cot is not very cosy (I never used it, used my old bugy-JANE with a carrycot which is bulky, but a heaven for a baby-spacious, very sturdy, well insulated, can tilt it up-dream,also can use in a car for long journeys)
-reclines in three different positions but you babys legs are folded(would be nice if you could bring the bottom part up so they could stretch their legs(i Candy or my old JANE where baby can actually lay flat when falls asleep)
- It takes masses of space in the car
- The whole build just feels like cheap plastic, especially the handle is very light and weak when extended,NOT sturdy at all,got wobbly very quickly, foam on the handle is thin and can get damaged very easily ( I am constantly worried not to damage or break anything)
-Difficult to steer if you are on a pavement with a camber, it pulls badly to the side
-Break is working on the flat surface only
-Useless off-road (I use my old buggy for my child's safety and peace of mind)
-The tight fabrics on the seat part, struggle to get it round the frame. Minimalist but NOT user friendly
-Changing bag is a design fiasco-designed by someone who never did and will use one-totaly unsuitable, mine just sits in storage
-The customer support/services for bugaboo is almost nonexistant
Sorry to bore you and I know I am being a bit hard on the Bugaboo but it's not for me so be sure before you spend all that the money.
They also hold value and sell well second hand.Read moreLess5 people found this review helpful.

24-Jan-2012
When I first saw the Bugaboo range I really didn't like them but a Mothercare Sales Assistant persuaded me to have a look. I eventually bought a Bugaboo Chameleon 2nd hand from Ebay. My son is now 3 months old and we've had it from birth. Having bought atleast 7 prams and pushchairs over the last 14 years, I'd have to say that I love this one. It's amazingly manoeuvrable. Turns 360 degress on the spot. The carrycot element is spacious and for a winter baby is perfect for keeping him cosy. Big plus points are being able to change the handle direction, height adjustable handle, ability to change the covers, accessories, comfort for the child, great looking. Negatives are: the room it takes up in your boot, price (though 2nd hand market is very good). It also takes a few goes to get the hang of erecting and putting down the pram.

10-Jan-2012
Love it. We bought in July 2011 in the colour grape (a limited edition) because we were having a winter baby it's quite a good colour for hiding the mud.
We are currently still using the carrycot but it's great, really easy to push with one hand and walk the dog at the same time. The chassis is heavy but only about the same as the Oyster and lighter and more narrow than our friends Silvercross.
As the pram is small it's been great for restaurants and shopping as it does not take up too much space.
The only downside is the 2 small wheels catch leaves so you have to have gloves with you to pop the wheels out and bash free of leaves, only takes a second them and baby stays in the carrycot only 3 wheels.
Expensive but worth it and the re-sale value on Ebay seems good too!Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

Although the brake is set to its maximum position the pram is still moving. This can be a very dangerous when you are on a bus. On top of that the brake snapped recently! You would not expect it with a pram you spent so much money on.
I am wondering if there is also a manufacturing fault with the Bugaboo Cameleon (April 2008 production date). Although the brake is set to its maximum position the pram is still moving. I love the bugaboo chameleon and despite other reviews, i would say that it's very easy to put up and down (i'm 5.6) and not too big (it fits nicely in the boot of my ford focus with lots of room to spare).

18-Aug-2011
I bought the bugaboo red denim (it's a limited edition) in Nov 2009 for my DD, partly because I am half Dutch and wanted to be patriotic and partly as a lot of my friends had one in the UK.
1. I was very disappointed that I can't have it as a seat and as a carry cot, it's either or.
2. It's terrible to fold up if you are small. Taller people find it easier.
3. It's very heavy.
5. It takes masses of space in the car, and we have a big car!
4. It broke whilst we were staying in the middle of nowhere in France, luckily we were with family and I could borrow another buggy.
It took weeks to get it mended when we did get back home.
5. All the major retailers in Denmark that are near to me, have stopped stocking bugaboo and, I have to travel to the other side of Copenhagen to visit one.
6. My daughter does like it though, I think she likes the upright position of the seat.
7. It's OK in the snow too.
8. Stupidly expensive as well!
Would I buy again, no way... I've bought another buggy, which i'm much happier with the City Jogger Mini.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

24-Jun-2011
I gave birth to my first baby in December 2010. After lots of reading and visiting stores to check out travel systems I chose the Bugaboo Chameleon. My baby was 11lbs 4oz at birth and 55cms long. He is now 6 months old and I can honestly say that this travel system has been perfect for us in every way. When going out and about in the car it is easy to put the car seat onto the base and now that he is sitting up and looking about we use the pushchair rather than carrycot attachment. Max is always warm and comfortable and getting up and down steps, in and out of shops etc is easy as the buggy is so maneuverable. We have been out in the snow in it and to Blenheinm palace through kissing gates and over cattle grids. I love my buggy and cannot rate it high enough.

"Do not buy this! I now ask everyone I see…"
22-May-2011
Do not buy this!
I now ask everyone I see with a bugaboo what they think and very view would recomment.
I bought this for my first child thinking that you get what you pay for and that it would last. We had the following problems.
Impossible to get into basket when using pram
You cannot swap easily from pram to stroller as need to make up from scratch unless you buy an extra chasis
2 hand complicated fold and unfold and takes up ALOT of space. And will tip anything you have in the basket out when you do it.
A small toddler will have their head stuck in hood
Our handle snapped just above break when pushing down a step and the whole thing swang over and nearly tipped babe out - luckily small step and not stairs!!
we hardly used pram to be honest as I tend to drive most places. So when we had our second child I expected the pram to last (was fixed by John Lewis) but when I got it out to use the first time the chasis would no longer fold and has a lean to the right so totaly useless.
I am left wishing I never bought it and to be honest the whole build just feels like cheap plastic. My husband was able to take apart and us a plastic bottle top to allow a temporary fix before we buy another!
Have asked John Lewis to stop stocking this but tell me they have had few complaints and yet everyone I ask have had similar problems!Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

I bought mine second hand and find it really good. You can use it as a cot, pram and pushchair and the pushchair is good because it's very supportive of the baby's back, unlike some which let the baby lapse into an uncomfortable slouch. It handles really well and is quite light. The downside is that it doesn't fold down into a small neat package.

"Wanted to share experience of Bugaboo Chameleon as Mumsnet posts…"
01-Apr-2011
Wanted to share experience of Bugaboo Chameleon as Mumsnet posts helped me decide to get it. We wanted a light weight pram that would give us the option of going "off road" for dog walking and something fairly simple to assemble
Best points: 1)Light weight frame means even with Sacral Iliac dysfunction in pregnancy(in addition to a bad back pre pregnancy)+ only being 5ft 2 I could still pick the frame up throw it in car and put carrycot on. Also useful as could push 4 days post c section. Were considering icandy until I realised I couldn't lift it
2)despite other posts, find it quite easy to collapse and set up. Like anything you just need to practice. Suggest if struggling you watch online demonstration
3) excellent off road on rough gravel / grass terrain
Bad points:
1) does take up a lot of boot space - I have audi A3 and there isn't much room left in the boot with the frame + cot
2)Due to fact frame is so light wouldn't reccommend going out in strong wind - had quite scary experience where thought pram was going to blow over
3) bag impossible to get to with cot on. Have to remove cot to get shopping in it
Hope this helps you make your choiceRead moreLess6 people found this review helpful.

03-Feb-2011
Very disappointed with this pushchair as despite all the good things about it there are fundamental problems that don't make it fit for purpose. It is marketed as being all-terrain, but off road in a bit of mud the small wheels get so clogged up and need regular stops to clear with a stick. Today my little boy ended up on his head on the path when the seat suddenly tipped backwards and would not click back in place leaving me stranded 30 mins from home with a baby and a toddler... The after sales service from Bugaboo has been dreadful as despite several attempts to contact them about numerous minor problems have all been unresolved.

Mine is still going on DC number two after heavy use in muddy fields, Pyrennean slopes, snowy canal paths and even busy shopping centres. The handle is getting a little wobbly now but price per use must be pennies (despite the initial huge outlay!). My only quibble is that the front wheels can get clogged with mud and wet leaves necessitating frequent stops to dig them out with a stick. Other than that - love it, love it.

Easy to manouvre & very easy to push one handed - the only pushchair I've ever been able to manage one handed whilst holding the hand of a child.
Some like the fact that the frame for the pushchair & carrycot is the same for storage reasons - I would have prefered to have been able to use them both at the same time as there were several occasions once I had moved over to the carrycot for dd2 that Iwanted the pushchair for dd1 whilst using a sling for dd2.
I've had no problems with the build quality but is is fiddly to fold - DH still struggles & we have owned it for 4 1/2 years!!
It also takes up a huge amount of boot space - although only on a par with comparable systems I would say.Read moreLessMumsnetter loonyrationalist

"After reading loads of reviews we decided to get the…"
09-Nov-2010
After reading loads of reviews we decided to get the bugaboo chameleon and haven't regretted it. It is very easy to manoeuvre and push around, seeming deceptively light. It can be adjusted in many ways so there are quite a few buttons and levers but once you've used it a few times you soon remember which one does what! The chassis is quite large and takes up most of the boot but, if extra space is required, it's quite easy to take the two large wheels off to reduce the space taken up by it and then just pop them back on again when you arrive. It's also very easy to switch between using it with the carry cot/pushchair seat or a maxi cosi car seat, which is great.
I also like that it has the option of attaching a buggy board (not possible with all other pushchairs).
One minor problem is that the carrier at the bottom of the chassis is not too accessible when the carry cot is in place. However, it is much more accessible when the seat unit is used. This hasn't been a huge problem for us though.
I also like that the same frame is used for both the carry cot and the seat unit, so you only need to store the fabric of what you are not using (which can be packed flat) and not a bulky structure - this is great because there's not a lot of storage space in our house.
Another thing I like is that both the carry cot and the seat can face in either direction and the seat can be set in different reclining positions.
The main disadvantage is of course the price. But we use it practically every day so price per day is not really that much!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

From the moment i found out i was pregnant, i wanted a Bugaboo Cameleon! I am so pleased with it. It's fabulous. I cannot fault it!
For us personally..
Pros:
You can change the fabrics. Our Cameleon has been black, blue, off white, red.
Great accessories. The cupholder is really handy!
Steers like a dream. Which was fab after my c-section. It almost moves by itself.
Fantastic quality. You can tell it is well made and of good quality.
Easy to collapse the chassis. You can do it in one movement!
Underseat bag is huge. If you decided not to get a changing bag, this would accomodate your needs, and so much more. I can fit a few days worth of shopping in there, aswell as baby stuff!
The wrist strap makes you feel extra safe when going up and down a hill or going over bumpy terrain.
You can take it ANYWHERE! On the beach, gravel, stones, woods .. with ease!
The hood is extra big, so gives baby privacy and protection from the sun.
Parent facing and world facing, so baby gets a good mix of parent interaction and looking at the world.
The height adjustable handlebar is great if people taller or shorter are pushing the pram.
The carrycot can be used for overnight sleeping and is very cosy and warm.
Cons:
Cost of the accessories. For example the cupholder is 14.99, and the footmuff 89.99!
When you collapse the pram, you have to take off the seat unit/carrycot, then collapse the chassis. The seat unit/carrycot then sits ontop of the chassis. So taking this on the bus is out of the question. You need two hands to collapse the pram, so you have to think about where baby is going in that situation!
When in carrycot mode, it is really hard to access the underseat bag.
All in all a fantastic pram, and i really recommend it!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

26-Aug-2010
I spent an embarrassingly long time researching prams for our pfb, but in the end the Grandparents were paying and they had the final say, so we went with the Cameleon.
My main criteria were: forward/rear facing and easy to swap, a flat carrycot or similar, nice looking/pretty colours, to be able to fit in the car, adjustable handlebar height and not to have air filled tyres. The Cam fitted the bill perfectly. I would agree that it's quite big when folded but the fact it is in two parts makes that easier. I wouldn't recommend it for the bus though, for that reason. For quick trips out I'd often just take the base and slot the car seat on. We walk lots and I always felt that it was cosy and safe. It's very easy to push in both modes.
I read LOTS about the various models of Cameleon as we were going to get a second hand one. The main conclusion I came to was that the newer frames with the foam filled tyres seemed to have far fewer problems than the old ones. The second hand price is so much that it makes sense to get a new one with warranty and sell it on when you're done with it. So far, we've had no problems at all. I've read that Bugaboo are a real pain to deal with if things go wrong however, so it's better to go through the retailer you bought it from.
Overall I would definitely recommend the Cam, as would my son!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

22-Aug-2010
Everyone loves the bugaboo until it breaks and ours has broken too often in the 3 and a bit years we've used it to transport our little girl. Easy to wheel and steer, comfortable for her, good looking, very versatile, but fiddly to fold and too bulky for the average car boot. But the main problem we've experienced is the continuing failure of small cheap plastic parts that make the buggy unusable. We are now waiting for a response to the latest breakage. I have fitted a new front wheel, which was easy after along wait for the part. It has never steered straight since though because the wheels are slightly different.
Then the big central white button mechanism popped out, which was very difficult to fit and also took along time to arrive. This locks the seat in place, or not.
The wheels never stay inflated either. We have had to buy a smaller buggy, for flying (bugaboos too big for the hold) and holidays in the UK (boot too small even with a compact 4x4 for cases and the bugaboo), and because the bugaboo failed so frequently.
I would not recommend this product. After many hours pushing it I think there are too many faults with the design and the quality of manufacture. If we cannot fix the chassis, which is likely, we will have to buy a new or second hand one, at anything betweenRead moreLessMumsnetter Youareasillydaddy

I love my Bugaboo, and would recommend it. It is really easy to manoeuvre, lightweight and the handle is adjustable so comforfotable for both short and tall people. It looks great and is very cosy. On the downside, I found the basket very difficult to access when the carrycot is being used. The parasol is a waste of money - it falls off and isn't very adjustable so you spend loads of time fiddling about with it to keep the sun out of babies eyes - you are better off buying a snoozeshade. Collapsing it takes a bit of getting used to in the beginning. If you have a big [or very curious] baby, it will probably only use the carrycot until it is about 4 months old, but the buggy is quite cosy and baby can still lie down for a nap.

Ideal for active families! For those who like to venture out of the city the Cameleon is a MUST! We go out on forest walks, when possible the seaside, mountain walks, or just to the park, and the Cameleon has sustained all terrain. A bit dodgy when having to put it in the car (have to take wheels off, but very easy to put back on). Also, when you want to get out with your partner during baby nap or sleep times, the Cameleon in sleeping position hides baby away very well from bright lights and distraction. Like all Bugaboos, a bit pricey, yet worth the price when you realise how much you use it in so many different situations. One more thing, it's not such a great city stroller because it isn't the smallest or the niftiest around. However, it is very sturdy and makes baby and mum/dad feel secure. One more thing, it comes with a wrist band for more security.

Love it! Would definitely recommend it, even with the hefty price tag. Have nothing but praise for Bugaboo suppliers. Quick to respond and supply parts - lost a screw from handle. They replaced whole chassis! Lightweight easy to manoevre. Used it in the heavy snow earlier this year no problems,(we had at least 6 inches!) I don't drive and have had no issues on public transport due to buses/trains/trams being wheelchair accessible you can just wheel straight on. I don't think it is much bigger than some of the other prams out there. The collapsing of the chassis and removing of the seat is a minor niggle but really minor. My daughter is now 17 months and I am pregnant with second. Am clinging on to my bugaboo in the hope my daughter will want to walk everywhere and I can use again for number 2! Received lots of compliments from older generation ladies when in carrycot mode about how nice it was to see a traditional style pram(!??)

Very easy to steer. 3 positions offer great flexiblity especially as baby gets older. Pram cover and hood make it useful for shading baby from sun ( !!) which other friends prams didn't do. We did have to send the pram for repair - handle kept extending due to rivets slackening - and returned it to John Lewis. We received a loan pram from them and Bugaboo replaced the chassis v speedily.

12-Feb-2010
I always knew I wanted this pram and as soon as I had my BFP I was on at my OH about getting one. And I haven't been disappointed. Our daughter is still in the pram and I love its ease at manouvering around shops etc. The downside side to it (apart form the price!) is that in the pram she didn't look as snug as my friends children in the icandy / silvercross so I have now purchased a footmuff which helps to cushion her and keep her extra snuggley. I love the fact that she can potentially be in it till she is 3 and therefore believe that makes it worth while. I would also advice to look out for buying it from somewhere that has a discount / offer on to make it more worthwhile e.g. Selfridges in November do a 20% off everything weekend and Mothercare do a 20% off at the babyshow.

11-Nov-2009
I really like my Bugaboo Chameleon. The price has increased significantly since I purchased mine and I would not pay the current RRP.
It is very easy to push - it just seems to glide along the street. We live in an area with lots of hills, so it makes walking much easier.
The carrycot is a good size and should last the full six months until your child is sitting up. When using the carrycot, you will find it very difficult to use the shopping basket underneath.
My now 2 year old daughter has always been very comfortable in the Bugaboo. It is also great to have the tilt back positions on the pushchair for sleeping.
It is not a pushchair suitable for public transport and you would end up spending more money on a easy folding pushchair to board buses etc.
Accessories and replacement parts are very very expensive and I found the quality of the fabrics on the bugaboo less than great. The sun parasol just falls off the whole time, so I ended up spending more money buying the breezy sun canopy :-(
Bugaboo (the company) are not very helpful when it comes to replacement parts. As a customer, you have to search around to find a retailer in your area to purchase replacement parts.
All in all, I have been pretty happy with the Bugaboo. Would I buy it again? probably not. We have spent a fortune on accessories and an additional easy folding pushchair.Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

This is the best pram on the market. I love it and would never swap it for another. I have tried others, but none is nearly as good as this one. Actually, the Stokke Xplory was *nearly* as good, but not quite. The Bugaboo was much easier to navigate, lighter and neater. My favourite by far.

I really like our Bugaboo - my daughter always looks snug and comfy in it and the fact that it reclines in three different positions is a definite plus. It is really manoeuverable and great cross country. On the downside it doesn't fold down very small making it a nightmare if you have a small car and not one for public transport. Also the extras are very expensive. I wouldn't say it is great value for money(I've had cheaper cars!) but I must say it has lasted really well with a rambunctious toddler and lots of walks across fields and travel across the continent.

Absolutely adore this pram! Having had the Silver Cross 3D before I can fully appreciate how much better this pram is. See my review of SC 3D. Bugaboo Cameleon is without doubt the best pram on the market at the moment for city living - so easy to manoeuvre on and off buses, along cobbles and up high kerbs. V safe for baby too and v comfortable to push for long distances. Hubby loves it as he is tall and handles come to a decent height!!

It also has fixings for the maxi cosi car seat - no need to wake a sleeping baby to get in or out of the car! There are also amazing funky and trend unique canopys, hoods, aprons and seat liners now available from buggyboutique.com.

I would like to recommend this pram but as I ordered it over 5 months ago and STILL have yet to receive it, it would be very difficult! We have tried and tried to chase up the order, but the customer service at Bugaboo is utterly non-existant! The shop we ordered it from has rang them every day, but to no avail - Bugaboo don't return calls, or even answer them most of the time! The shop have tried to get one from elsewhere, but it seems everyone is having a supply problem. It seems that Bugaboo do not care about their customers. The baby will arrive long before the pram will, which is ridiculous as we were told it should only take 6-12 weeks to come. Take some advice.... buy a Stokke Xplory instead!

This is the best pushchair I have ever had - does everything I need it to, and is still nice to push even though my daughter is almost 3 and pretty weighty. Also, the seat is big enough for her, unlike most pushchairs which are allegedly suitable up to 3 or 4 years, but the seat is outgrown before they are 2. My only grumble is that you have to take the seat/carrycot off before folding, which can be a bind in the rain. Other than that its gorgeous.

"This may be one of the most expensive pushchairs on…"
19-Feb-2009
This may be one of the most expensive pushchairs on the market, but it is absolutely worth it!
First of all the pram top/moses basket bit. It's a really good size in comparison to some of the other products on the market e.g. icandy apple and silvercross. It makes the cameleon great for travel as baby can sleep comfortably when you're out and about up till about 5 months old.
The pushchair element is great as your baby/toddler is nice and high up and they can get a good look around (rather than just looking at grown ups ankles).
All of the fabrics are machine washable - this was a major selling point for me and that was before I knew how messy my little one would be!
For me, it was one of the easiest pushchairs/travel systems to put up and down, but because it works completely differently to other systems (which are mostly umbrella folding), it can take a while for people to get their heads around the way it works. I have a small boot in my car (Corsa), but the Cameleon fits snugly when one wheel is taken off - and it's really not as difficult as it sounds! I have a lighter pushchair which is more of a problem because it is too long for my boot and there's no way to compact it to fit.
Baby can face you or face away and it's really simple to switch. You can also easily switch the back wheels to become the front, which makes the Cameleon easier to push on uneven ground - on the beach, on dirt tracks or mountain walks. The suspension is also great - it is so easy to push in comparison to all of the systems friends purchased.
All Bugaboo systems work in conjunction with the Maxi Cosi car seat with the addition of a simple to use adapter, which means that a sleeping baby can be easily transferred from car to the pushchair frame without waking him/her.
I can't really fault the Cameleon - still using it pretty much full time with my 20 month old daughter. The only slight issue is the small storage space underneath.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

18-Nov-2008
Oh my, how I hated it!
I got mine as it was half price, discontinued colours - so I thought I'd see what all the fuss was about.
I had some problems initialy - a brake rubbing issue, which took ages to repair. But was fine after that.
I'll tell you what I liked first - centre of gravity was great, as it didn't tip easily (unless you had to use a kerb, for instance). Also it has a large shopping basket.
It is narrow and easy to steer around tiled or linoleum shop floors - but not actually on the pavements leading to said shops!
That's it.
I hated so much more:
The tight fabrics and raincover that you had to get your knee into almost, just to get it round the frame. Minimalist but NOT user friendly.
The bobbly fleece that looked grubby within days.
The silly, horrid little front wheels that stuck on every single kerb, and nearly tipped the whole thing over going down our front step. Every time.
The way the seat rocked precariously when you adjusted the angle, threatening to recline instead of go the way you wanted it to.
The shallow seat.
The flimsy little handlebars, and easy-to-eat foam all over it.
Most of all I hated the way it looked!
And if you are ever thinking of flipping over the handlebars and having the big wheels facing you, just don't bother - it is unsteerable in that position. You need to remove the child and/or seat and just put it on the other way. Pah!
All in all a waste of time, but I did make a small profit on mine when I ebayed it!
And went and ordered a Mountain buggy, which I am taking to bed with me tonight : )Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

Initially I thought the system was quite a complex one to master, but honestly, this is a well designed buggy and manoeuvres beautifully. The basket is huge, although sometimes hard to reach into when the carry cot is on the chassis. The seat is wide and the extras such at the footmuff are great value as they are machine washable and keep baby snug and warm. The rain cover is easy to put on. Putting my Cameleon in and out of the boot of my car is no problem at all, although can get tiresome as with any other travel system if you are taking the buggy out more than once in the day! Great buggy, love the colour choices too.

The first problem I encountered with this was the inate inability to fit it in the back of our car, or the cars of half the people we know. 18-Oct-2008
I have had a Chameleon for 2 years, and only justified the inital high price by the assumption I would use it for 2 children. However I am beginning to think it will not last that long. Just out of guarantee (2 years) and the chassis broke. A quick internet search reveals that this is quite a common problem. And the only solution is to buy a new chassis, as Bugaboo don't "do repairs". Unbelievable, after forking out almost 850 euros for the buggy plus bits and bobs, you have to pay another 320 to get a new chassis. Which by my reckoning means that the Chameleon is essentially a disposable buggy. Anything breaks, just buy another one.
The rain cover has torn at the corners also, although i have always been very careful. And you hit your feet constantly against the Buggyboard. And at 2 years, my son was already too big for it.
I still love the lightness and manouverability of this buggy but I now think it is way to expensive given its lifespan. I am not sure how long it will last with my second child.Read moreLessMumsnetter cantthinkofanything

"I was talked into getting a Bugaboo and I wish…"
10-Sep-2008
I was talked into getting a Bugaboo and I wish I never had. I'll not bore you with the list of problems but after getting repetitive strain injury from the button pushing fiasco to fold and open it, to change the direction of the handle, to recline the seat, to extend the handle, to remove the seat, to fix the front wheels etc etc I knew enough was enough. My son didn't like it and always slid down into a really bad posture position and we had to lift him back so often and wedge a rolled up blanket between his legs to stop him sliding back down. My family and friends were never able to master it and are not sorry to see it go.
The velcro that holds the shopping bag on snapped after 4 weeks and the rain cover leaked water all over my son through the window and it would steam up. If you do decide to change the direction of the handle to get over rougher ground, it's like driving a fork lift truck. Weird. If to solve that problem you fix the swivel wheels you still can't steer and if you try and tip it to get over a bump the swivel wheels at the back can't take any pressure so you simply can't.
It's so popular! now you'll get fed up other parents saying snap as they walked by.
Sorry if I sound a bit hard on the Bugaboo but it's not for everyone so be sure before you spend all that the money. I have friends who have Bugaboos and they love them!
I don't but am pleased they hold value and sell well second hand.

1. Flimsy- My chassis needed exchange already twice. First, I had problems with folding the chassis it suddenly got very stiff. Second, a handle locking mechanism did not lock.
2. Not multi-terrain. The bugaboo markets the pram as suitable for multi-terrain however it is not good for that as the key handle carrying mechanism is made out of plastic and aluminium and snaps easily. Happened to my pram and I use it only over curbs in Central London.
3. Unhelpful customer service. Bugaboo customer services team is hugely unhelpful (i dealt with a person responsible for UK). Instead of answering my questions she kept coping and pasting parts of the user manual (I had read it twice myself).
4. Poor design features.
4.1. The carrycot is too narrow, out baby did not find it comfortable at 6 weeks of age as babies spread their hands above their head when they sleep.
4.2. The carry cot is not insulated at all so it is not warm enough for winter babies.
4.3. Our 7 months old babies head is already touching the sun canopy of the seat so not sure how useful the pram will be in a couple of month.
5. Value for money. I would definitely not buy it again!Read moreLessMumsnetter kayka

Excellent pushchair, if a little expensive. One of the most irritating things is that the bag is virtually impossible to use when the carrycot is attached. One of the best features is that you can have the baby facing towards or away from you by easily altering the position of the handle. Not something that many pushchairs do (I believe).
I have a BMW 1 series, which has quite a small boot and found this to be one of the few pushchairs that actually fitted. It has the added advantage of being able to easily remove the wheels and collapse the carrycot if necessary.
I would suggest practicing putting up the chassis before going out with a new baby for the first time. It took me a while to get used to and I had a few embarrassing moments and bruised ankles in supermarket car parks in the first few weeks!Read moreLess"When I was expecting my little boy (now 8 months)…"

When I was expecting my little boy (now 8 months) I was driving a Smart fortwo, and this was one of the few pushchairs that I found that I could get into it...albeit that I had the carrycot in the boot and the chassis behind the driver's seat. I've subsequently changed my car (Smart "from birth" car seat wasn't suitable "from birth") to a Toyota Aygo and kept packing my camaeleon the same way, until I changed his car seat which means he's in the back seat and consequently I don't want to have the chassis next to him, in case of a side-impact collision.
Whilst I would agree with all the positive things said about its manoeuvrability and style (although I didn't realise that when I ordered it) I do have quite a few negatives to add.
1. Bulky when folded & placed together. Getting it into the boot of my Aygo (which I concede is a small boot) requires a contestant from The Krypton Factor! My husband has an S-type Jag and it takes up half his boot!
2. Not very long as a carrycot. My little boy was 57cm long when he was born and I had to change him to the pushchair at 4.5 months as he barely had 2" of space left.
3. Brake... what can I say? It only gives any degree of hold on a completely flat surface.
4. Very expensive, when you consider that you still have to buy a car seat and the adaptors if you want it to be a travel system...approxRead moreLessMumsnetter DebEast

I love my bugaboo! Some have commented that you need a family sized car to fit the bugaboo in - you don't - I fit mine into the boot of an Audi TT i.e. carrycot and wheels. The carrcot flattens right down. I would definitely recommend the bugaboo chameleon for flexibility, look, versatility. It is difficult to fold down at first but will seem straight forward after a week or two.

Love what it does, but don't always like the way it does it.
Positives:
- It's the narrowest rear/forward facing travel system (eg compared to Quinny Buzz, Hauck Infinity, iCandy Apple) so better for shopping and tight spaces
- Rear / forward facing option is great
- Ability to use with Maxi Cosi Cabrio is handy eg if you're getting a cab/lift somewhere and need to take car seat
- Decent sized basket
- Reasonably good suspension
- Good manoeuvrability on smooth flat surfaces
- Extendable pushing handle
Negatives:
- Difficult to steer if you are on a pavement with a camber, it pulls badly to the side
- Small front wheels are obscured while pushing, and tend to get stuck in ruts and gutters, which can be dangerous / uncomfortable
- Not great off road due to front wheels being small and easily clogged
- The handbrake lever is a bit awkward (I prefer a foot operated brake personally)
- The hood doesn't come down very far
- Seat size is quite small, my smallish 16 month old is nearly hitting the top
- The seat tilts are a bit odd in rear-facing mode, you have the choice of either lying flat, lying semi-flat, or tipped so far forward the child is practically hanging out of the chair by the belts
- Very awkward to fold and unfold, I know people say you just need to get the knack but I've had it nearly a year and I'm still useless at it!
- Difficult to stop the parts scraping along the ground when folding and unfolding
- Expensive and poncey
Overall it is is still the narrowest unit to do what it does (apart from possibly the iCandy Cherry?) so I'll keep it for now despite its faults.
Buy second-hand to mitigate the horrendous cost, the resale value is good.
If only Maclaren could do a rear&front-facing Techno with air tyres - that would be my ideal!!Read moreLessMumsnetter FirstAtForty

16-Oct-2007
Although loathed to buy the most expensive option out there tha fact that most of my walks are across rough terrain and that this comes with a two year guarentee made it the only choice and I haven't been disapointed. Most off roaders are heavy and bulky but the bugaboo is so light you can push it anywhere ( only deep shingle prooved a bit slow going). With a choice of front wheels and which way your child will face at the push of a button or handle it is incredibly flexible without compromise. The choice of colours makes it fun to buy( go on the website to build your own)and although I went for blue beige rather than black pink you can have an additional colour for an additioanl cost. Baby has slept overnight in the cot and is now enjoying the buggy. Lots of extras but foot muff more use than umbrella.

28-Aug-2007
Have just bought the bugaboo chameleon after trawling around looking for a pram that would fit the boot of my car - a '55 Mini One. The frame of this fits easily sideways in the small boot with only one of the easy release wheels off - the parcel shelf stays on. There is a little room around it to fit a bit of shopping (if you don't buy too much!) I will now be able to leave the frame overnight in my car and will only have to carry the carrycot/car seat up into my flat.
I had read loads of conflicting info re the size of the bugaboo and hope this will help any other mini owners out there.
Can't comment on the usefulness of the pram as baby not here yet.Read moreLessMumsnetter sarahboom

Looks fab, and your little one will find it comfy too. It's such a great design - I'm always getting people commenting on how nice my push chair is, my Partner corrects them "It's a Bugaboo!"

Absolutely love my bugaboo. Bought a cameleon when they first came out and have used it most days with my daughter who's almost 2. It's realy hardwearing, still looks good and everything washes well. Bassinet is great for babies and meant we didn't have to bother with a travel cot for ages as she could sleep in that when we were away. Pushchair also great. Definately worth paying the extra compared with the gecko if you're tall, due to the adjustable handle. Only limitations are that shopping basket isn't too easy to access with bassinet in place and is impossible on public transport due to it being in two pieces. It's also a bit on the large side for some car boots. Disappointed that they don't due a double version now I'm expecting my second.

I love it! It not only looks fab, but is so practical. It is the Ferrari of pushchairs. The quality is fantastic, and the adjustable suspension is a must.
Bugaboo have done a great job in designing this one, from the adjustable handle bar, to the overall quality of the pushchair. The storage basket is great too.
One downside, you have to have a family sized car to have this (I ended up buying a bigger car).
The carry cot is great too, and the little one looks very happy in there!

Very versatile pushchair and pram. The pram is very comfortable and useful as travel cot in the early months. The only downside is that the Chameleon is not compact when folded and thus takes up alot of space in a car boot. It is great for shopping as it looks good and the big wheels make it easy to move about. You will probably need to get a small fold up pushchair too.

05-Jul-2007
Don't buy it! The bugaboo is useless off-road in wet conditions, as the small wheels get clogged with mud and you have to stop to clean them out - very annoying. Also, when the wheels clog they suddenly stop turning, causing the pram to stop dead and almost topple over. Finally, the carrycot tips down at the head end when a heavier baby is in it and I believe this should not happen with something this expensive. Buy the Mountain Buggy instead!

I disagree with the review that says it takes up loads of boot space. Have you seen some of the other buggies on the market? Once you get the hang of the folding mechanism it's really quick and easy. I am the only mum I know who still uses the same buggy for my one year old as I did when he was born, everyone else had bought a Maclaren at three months as they were so disappointed with their original buggy!

A "fab looking" pushchair that's "simple to manoeuvre". This is the top of the range model and as such is eye-wateringly pricey but it has quite a few extras like adjustable suspension and an extendible handlebar. "You can change between modes (city, off road, baby facing you or direction of travel) with ease once you get the knack". On the downside it "takes up loads of boot space and takes two journeys from house to car to bring in, as it splits into two parts when you fold it down. But overall, "definitely worth the money as its perfect for every situation".
Mumsnet tip: "Buy the foot muff - although it's pricey - it's a must to keep your baby nice and cosy".Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

Extremely stylish but also very well engineered and sturdy. Baby seems cosy and comfortable - but definitely get the footmuff. My baby lay flat for the first 5 months in the carrycot version, which is what is recommended, and was cosy and comfortable. Now he has graduated to the buggy it is lovely to have the option of him facing me while we walk. Fantastic gettin gon and off the bus and in the shops as it is a dream to manouevre, but not so easy to fold down. Fits well in the car boot as the wheels are easily detached and the frame lies quite flat. We have brought it into the woods on a country walk too and it was no problem to manouevre and steer it once it had been correctly set-up, as per Bugaboo recommendations (large wheels in front, etc). Only gripe is the basket underneath is small compared to other buggies and is difficult to get to.

Fantastic manoeuverability, looks great and the adjustable handlebar is excellent if, like me, there is a great height difference between you and your partner. It is a great pushchair for walking as it manages pretty much all terains however not so great for travelling - takes up a lot of bootspace, collapses into two parts so there is no folding it up to get on a bus, not great at airports too (because in two parts has to be checked in with luggage!!) We have ended up having to buying a stroller for car journeys and travelling in general. A great pushchair if you don't travel a lot (or use the car) but personally in the future I would go with one that folded in one part.

Fantastic looks, excellent for walks in the park both on the path and on the grass. Expensive, but I much prefer it to nasty plastic buggies!

Very light and portable and easy to push around. The carry cot has been great as an early travel cot. The folding takes a bit of getting used to and you have to divide the buggy into two to put it in the car. The shopping bag is a bit akward to access with the cot, but fine with the buggy.
