"Not suitable for anything…"
28-Apr-2013
I don't know why these bugaboo bee's are so popular. The handle bar is curved so holding and pushing the buggy for anything more than few minutes hurts your wrists.
The wheels get caught in the smallest crack in the pavement. When getting on and off buses the wheels at the front often shoot off to the left or right at 90 degrees which is positively Dangerous. The wheel base is too long so the turning circle isn't tight enough. the front wheels are relatively wide apart so you are forever hitting peoples ankles or running over your own or other peoples toes. The buggy is too exposed so your baby has little protection if an accident occurs. The adjuster for the handle requires two hands at all times, our oyster has one easy central adjusting handle which can safely be used with just one hand.. The bugaboo buggy becomes dangerously out of control unless you have two hands tightly holding it at all times. Where shall I stop?
This is an overpriced awkward uncomfortable dangerous inefficient buggy. Do not buy it just because it looks good. If I could give it 0 stars I would.Read moreLessMumsnetter Timmysmith

This buggy is great. I've been using it with my newborn for four months, and she is always really cosy in her cocoon.
It folds small enough to go in the boot of my Fiesta and still put the shopping in. The fold needs two hands, but is very easy.
Its excellent for city use, on buses, in shops etc, really nippy. Not so good off road, but coped well with the snow.
I think the wheel issue is sorted, certainly we've had not problems. I agree that it feels less robust than some prams, but it actually is very solid, and isn't flimsy in use.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

I can't rave about this pram enough!! I thought it was brilliant! It was a little expensive but well worth the money. Easy to steer, sometimes not the easiest to fold, it's lightweight and it looks good too. I've had a lot of compliments about it.

"good all rounder - not really had problems with the wheels…"

My son is 19mo and I have used the bee daily since his birth. We used the base + car seat initially then went onto the main buggy. It is the smallest lightest travel system I have come across that folds without taking the seat off and is extremely easy to manoeuvre. The break on ours works fine still and whilst the wheels have spun a handful of times it has never been regular or posed any issues. Not had any issues with the rain cover. Similarly to other posters my friends who bought larger cheaper travel systems have all now ended up buying a second buggy, most of which are still larger and heavier than my bee!

"Rubbish pram. Too expensive and numerous design faults…"
26-Aug-2012
I cannot understand why this pram gets such great reviews. It costs much more than other makes but in my opinion is not worth the money. There are a number of design faults. I have owned my pram for five months. First of all one of the back wheels has started to spin. Apparently this is quite a common complaint and bugaboo replace the wheel if you contact them. If this is the case why don't they just sort it out? Major hassle to organise if you are a busy mother. Despite paying a fortune for this pram I have to attach a blanket with a clothes peg to the hood of the pram when the sun is shining so that my baby doesn't get the sun in his face. Prams in a cheaper bracket come with some sort of sun shade. Also this pram is badly designed for very small or newborn babies. In order to use it with small babies you have to buy a separate 'cocoon' for it which costs about

I loved my bee. Beautiful, lighter weighted than the chameleon and easier to use, transport.
However brake was not always working well and wheels would swirl ...

I have had a bugaboo bee for 2 months, and onto my second one. The seat does not come out of its slots easily when changing seat, not does it click back in as easily. In addition, if the universal footmuff is used whilst the buggy is parent facing, it is extremely difficult to apply brake, and then open buggy. It get in the way. This seems to be a design fault, especially as there are similar buggies that open and close using a mechanism near the handle bar. Sadly, as beautiful as it is, the qudos of owning one, does not outweigh its impracticability.

I had this on a product trial over a year ago and I was completely unimpressed with it to be honest. It felt filmsy with my 3 year old in it and I thought it had a mind of its old. I was worried that although he was within the weight limit for it that it was going due to his size.

08-Aug-2011
Unfortunately this product has several severe problems that they have not been able to fix including significant "shimmying" in the wheels (as they have termed it) which makes the pram impossible to push foward. They took over a month to send a "fix" which included fabric washers which did not solve the problem. Additionally, the carriage on one side did not click in and they still have not resolved that problem either. Sadly, their customer service is very poor and they take a very long time to respond to any matter. If you are choosing between this product and another I would suggest you go with the other pram.

The Bugaboo Bee is fantastic if you live in a city and do a lot of walking. We bought it for our little girl from birth and she's now 8 months old. It fits in the smallest of cars (you can take wheels off too which are very easy).
Lots of my other pals that bought the 'bigger' ones such as Quinny, iCandy etc.. have ended up buying a Maclaren as well. So far we haven't needed too and we've been on three foreign holidays!Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

Bad points first
The raincover tears as soon as toddler is in it, they can't see out and kick it and it tore straight away.
Once they are older than 18 months, they don't fit under the hood - the seat back isn't tall enough so we took the hood off and now can't go out in the rain.
Brakes failed - which Bugaboo have resolved but poor play from such a big company!
Good points
Moves beautifully.
Lightweight and easy to fold.
Great for tall people or those with short arms!

"We've had our Bee for our DS since birth and…"
21-Mar-2010
We've had our Bee for our DS since birth and are really pleased with our purchase. With the nest in place, he has been warm and cosy despite the awful winter - in fact at times he's almost felt too warm! He falls asleep as soon as he's put in it so I'm assuming that he finds it comfortable.
The folding mechanism is a little clunky but once folded takes up very little boot space. It's very light and easy to manouevre and often we've been able to get through doors/spaces that our friends with bigger pushchairs have struggled with. We got the attachments for the maxi-cosi car seat with the package, but the bee is so easy to use that we've always taken DS out of his car seat to be more comfortable.
Only slight draw back is that it does not come with hooks to hang your shopping on on the handle, but we got some on Amazon and they work really well.
Although it's marketed as being for use in towns, we've used ours on many countryside walks across fields etc with no problems.Read moreLess4 people found this review helpful.

10-Mar-2010
We bought this because we live in a basement flat with steep steps down and a hilly town with small shops. We wanted something lightweight and very easy to steer. The Bugaboo Bee is brilliant for this. You can turn 360 without having to push forwards or back and I think its pretty much the lightest on the market. It folds down very small too. The shopping basket bit is underneath and a little small but thats because the buggy itself is so small so to be expected. You need to buy the Cocoon/Nest separately if you want to use with with a newborn. Chassis also works with the Maxi cosi car seat.
Highly recommended!Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

Originally had a quinny but as Ben grew it didnt fit the boot with the seat attachment so did some research and we bought the Bee. Its great wish we had bought from birth. Everything is washable, its easy to manoevre, only prob is DS head is touching the top of hood now and the Bugaboo customer service we have found to be appauling despite the cost of their products. Still waiting for my break attachments!!! The Bee accessories are not as choicy as the other Bugaboo prams, but DS loves it, its so easy to push and the storage underneath is good!!!

07-Oct-2009
I love my Bee.... in spite of itself. 1) The brakes are a disaster. I am on my 3rd replacement chassis and again the brake only works on one side - if I let go on a hill the buggy careers off in a spinning motion. But I have heard tell that Bugaboo have solve this problem with the newer batches.
2) The folding mechanism is clunky and stiff and sticks in the middle of its action. My first chassis wouldn't fold at all.
3) To apply the lock to the front wheels you have to get down on your hands and knees and wrestle with the filthy wheel with your fingers - so I find it hard to believe that anyone ever uses it.
4) It is ridiculously tiny - my ten month old is nearly breaking through the roof already.
5) The rain cover is flimsy and has ripped....
But still I adore it. It is teensy. It squeezes into small spaces on the bus, along narrow shop aisles and leaves half the boot of the car free when folded. I can carry the baby in his buggy down the stairs into the tube unaided. It corners like a dream - is like the best shopping trolley you have ever driven. And, I know it shouldn't be important but I love the look of the thing.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

24-Sep-2009
I bought the Bugaboo Chameleon for my daughter when she was born. As she grew up, I wanted a buggy that was more portable and lightweight - more in keeping with a toddler. I purchased my red Bugaboo Bee in the States on holiday so made quite a saving over UK prices, especially on the accessories. The Bee is compact, light and extremely maneuverable as are all the Bugaboo's. All in all we are very pleased with the buggy. My daughter is 3 years now and will still jump in it for long trips. However, please do not consider if your baby/toddler is on the larger side. The slimness and shallowness of the seat means that the Bee will soon become redundant as your child will not fit. I've tested with friends babies and they ruled out the Bugaboo for their one year old as he didn't fit.

06-Aug-2009
We thought long and hard about which pushchair/pram to get and are really pleased we plumped for the Bee. Our DS is 6m and most of our friends with other prams/pushchairs are starting to move on to a Maclaren or similar but because the Bee is pretty lightweight and is more or less a stroller it still suits our purposes. We do live in London though and I doubt it would be up to any serious rough terrain. It does of course fully recline (the 150 degrees thing is fine for newborn we researched this lots!) so he will still go to sleep in it although does sleep better in his cot but that might just be him. Sometimes, it's a bit stiff and feels "cheap" and "plasticy" when changing the various parts around but I suppose that's the compromise on it being so lightweight. My husband often just picks it up quite easily if there are steps and no lift and if needs be I can just about manage as well. The handle bar adjustment is great for both of us; him at 6ft 2 and me at 5 ft 6. The nest only lasted us about 14 weeks but we had a decent size baby at 8lbs 6oz who is also quite tall. Still, it's a must as it does cushion them when they are still so small and need security. The most popular colour around seems to be the Khaki so if you want to be different go for something else!

29-Jun-2009
This pushchair is perfect for city use, it is the only one I could comfortably carry around in the store and I can carry it up and down the stairs on the tube by myself. It is really manoeuvrable, and looks lovely- the only complaint I have is that it is quite difficult to get up and down and requires alot of brute strength. It is impossible to do one handed which can be a problem if you are travelling on your own. It is great for a small baby as people would not expect you to fold it down on a busy bus, but when my baby is bigger I imagine I will buy a lightweight stroller for her that is easier to get up and down.

"My bugaboo bee is great! I chose the Bee as…"
19-May-2009
My bugaboo bee is great! I chose the Bee as I felt it was the best match to my requirements, and although not the cheapest, was most likely to be "the one" and not send me back to the shops in 6 months for something different.
It's compact and even fits in the boot of a mini. It's also fairly lightweight so getting it in and out of the boot isn't a problem. For a baby you can either use the baby nest which was lovely in the depths of winter, or pop a car seat on top. No extra pricey carry cot required.
It's very easy to manoeuvre and has been perfect in a small house and a small town. There's no shop that we haven't been able to mosy around. It isn't designed for rough terrain, so it's a fairly bumpy ride on gravel or cobbles but that's the tradeoff for such a small pushchair - plus you don't have to worry about flat tyres!
The brake sometimes only works on one side, but releasing, and applying and giving the pushchair a push sets it right.
I have adjusted the harness position, taken raincover on and off, switched the seat from rear to forward facing, taken the car seat on and off, used the parasol and cup holder accessories all without a problem.
LO is now 5 months and loves being forward facing. Time will tell how it suits a bigger baby/toddler.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

This pram is expensive, especially with the extras, but the handling is good, my newborn is very peaceful when out and about, although the pram lies down to 150 not 180 flat, this doesn't seem to be a problem.

"I am really very pleased with the bugaboo bee for…"
21-Apr-2009
I am really very pleased with the bugaboo bee for the following reasons:
1. Size - its quite narrow and so has been really easy to go through small spaces, especially on the bus. I am a bus user and couldn't have picked a better pushchair for this.
2. Manouverability - is fantastic. You can move it around with one hand and easily turn it a full 360 degrees with one hand.
3. The seat has 4 recline positions from flat (or very nearly flat) to sitting up. My daughter is now 4 months old and we use 2 positions - one up from the flat when she is sleepy and 2 up from the flat when she is awake. The 2 up from the flat is nearly sitting but has a bit more of a recline which is really good for her age.
4. Unlike most prams, the base used from birth is not a tub like shape. This may impact on comfort (but I didn't think so) but on the plus side my daughter was able to look around - up, left and right. This kept her really happy in her pram. A few other mums commented on this - saying that they felt that their babies could only look up which was getting boring for them.
5. The hood comes over quite a way and creates a snug little space for her. This is particularly useful when it's sunny as it helps to block the sun - but won't completely block it always. Also helps keep her protected in windy weather.
6. Easy to fold down and light weight so easy to transport.
The only negative comments I have are:
The shopping/storage basket isn't very large but thats because the overall pushchair is small.
The brakes were a problem as they didn't work after a couple of months. However I took it back to the shop I bought it from and they used WD40 and now they work fine. However to start with they are not the best brakes.
Lastly the bee is only suited for city use, which was perfect for me.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

13-Apr-2009
I love this pram. Had it for DS from birth (he is nearly 10 months now), and people always used to comment on how comfy and cosy he looked in it, how much lighter and manoeverable it was than other 'from birth' options and of course how good it looked!
I am so glad I didn't go for a carry cot type pram, there was no need - although if you are using this from birth I do recommend the baby nest to make it properly cosy and nearer to flat than it is without.
It gets used pretty much every day for at least a couple of miles and is wearing very well.
Only concern is how long it will last - DS is already looking dangerously close to the top, and a bit cosy at the sides - time will tell.Read moreLessMumsnetter tallbirduk

26-Mar-2009
You can actually use this from birth but I bought it when my daughter was a year old.
I love the colours available. I like the fact that you can choose to have it 'forward facing' or 'carer facing'. The pram is perfect for a baby/toddler to sleep in as it reclines fully and is incredibly comfortable and I like the way the hood can be extended fully forward and make a really cosy little cocoon.
It feels very light and is easy to steer.
It has a decent sized basket.
It does need 2 hands to fold down but only one hand to push.
The handle is full extendable but sometimes this can be a pain as it's too easy to extend the handle without realizing when you are folding the pram and you can end up with the frame being squew-whiff. I thought my frame had actually been bent and it took me a while to work out what had happened.
The base of the seat also 'unlocks' too easily so if you are lifting up from the back on the 'carer facing' option (which you sometimes do as the front wheels are a bit too light to really shove over rough ground when they get stuck on a rock) the seat can unclip.
Generally a good urban pram but its lightness can have disadvantages. Looks great and is comfy.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

I'm really glad I bought a Bee, it's comfortable and compact.
Baby seems comfortable in it, I have him sitting up now when awake but I can flatten it easily if he falls asleep. It's good you can have it facing both ways too.
It is definitely for the town/city as it's not that easy to manouvre on bumpy surfaces, but it's been brilliant for us in London. Due to living in first floor flat we keep it in the car and it's easy to fold up and down (after a couple of goes) and it is handy for public transport as it is quite narrow. It's nice and lightweight too.
My main criticism is the price and the fact than any extras you have to buy on top, so you can easily end up spending a few hundred on top of original price. We have so far bought baby nest, foot muff, parasol and travel bag - all of which we've felt we need and so expensive!Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

05-May-2008
Our requirements for a pram were as follows:
* That it be light. I have a bad back, so a heavy pram was out.
* That it be narrow. We are public transport people!
* That it have the option to be parent facing and forward facing.
* That the seat lie totally flat.
The Bee fulfills all of these requirements (well, basically... I think it may not be totally totally flat, but almost!), and so in that regard we are very pleased. Its manoeuvrability definitely impressed us, as did its looks. And public transport was definitely made as easy as it could be... we can tuck into snug places, and the frame is designed such that it is very easy to grip on either side of the seat. We have *definitely* enjoyed the parent-facing feature (for doting!) and the adjustable handle feature (again, for not breaking the back!)... really couldn't have done without either of those!
It's not perfect (as its music video would have you believe!). When it collapses (which can be done with one hand with practice), it will flop back open again if it is not propped just right. This is durn annoying. Bugaboo, if you are listening... please add a simple latch! Also, the straps could be engineered better; they agitate DC when she is put in the pram (though she is quite comfortable once we get going -- wish the 'baby nest' came in my size!).
All in all, we are quite pleased, especially about the ease with which we can negotiate London public transport!Read moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

I love my bee. You can easily place the maxi cosi car seat in when the baby is very young. I also like the fact I can have her forward or backward facing. It took a few attempts at learning this but once you get going it is very easy.
The bee is very easy to move and steer and I like the fact you can lift the handles up and down as my DH is tall. It is also a light weight. I have also used a Maclaren XT which I loved and was given the bee as a gift. The XT was definitely easier to use but then it did not have all the functions of the bee. I love the fact I can have her looking at me when we go places and place the car seat in when she is sleeping - something I missed out on with the XT.
I understand the bees are a lot cheaper in the US. I can not account for the 70 pound difference over here as they are identical!Read moreLessMumsnetter CilC

"I was really excited to test the Bugaboo Bee before…"

I was really excited to test the Bugaboo Bee before it was released over here in England but boy was I disappointed when it arrived. My husband and I both thought that you could get a much better pushchair for the money you would spend. For starters, the seat is small, my little one has just turned 18 months and he hardly fits in it and he's not big (still in 12-18 month clothing). It doesn't feel very stable on anything other than smooth surfaces and the seat isn't very well padded. I have previously had a Chameleon by Bugaboo and thought that they would have learned about the small seats but obviously it is too much to ask for a couple of inches wider and about 6 inches higher, my little one only just fits under the hood so I can't see how you would fit a 4 year old in it. Also the rain cover is very cheaply made, the plastic is very thin and the points where it attaches to the frame look as though they would tear very easily, another bug bear is that when you put the rain cover on, you have to full extend the hood and because it is so big your little one can't see anything (it is like being sat in a tunnel). It is quite easy to fold once you get the hang of it but it doesn't have a locking mechanism so unfolds when you try to carry it or put it in the boot. Overall I'm so glad that I haven't paid
