"Great pram!…"
19-Apr-2013
The oyster is really easy to use on public transport due to its compact nature. It has smooth running wheels, can turn on the spot and be steered with one hand. So easy to use. It is a bit bumpy with no suspension but my baby (4months) rarely wakes.
A great pram, I would buy it again.Read moreLessMumsnetter Wheresthecoffee

"Don't buy they're rubbish!!!!…"
08-Apr-2013
I've only rated a star because I've had to personally I wouldn't give it any stars at all. I had the oyster travel system and was fine for the first few months then it all became loose and the frame was clicking when lifting the handle bar which had quite a lot of movement in it by this time, I wasn't happy so contacted the retailer which they sent it back to babystyle to be repaired, they replaced the handle and elbow joint also the said the brake assembly unit had completely failed which I'd had no idea about!! The same week I had the pushchair back the same fault occurred, I phoned babystyle so they said they would send me a new pushchair which they did and had upgraded the chassis to the plush, I was quite happy with what I had been given, I've used it for 7 weeks and then I lifted the back end to get it up the step into my house an the right side of the frame went snap while my 8month old daughter was still in the pushchair, I'm currently trying to sort it out as I've asked for a refund, I do not want another pushchair from babystyle im looking at other brands, I wish I'd have saved a bit more money and gone for the icandy in the 1st place.

"do not get this buggy…"
24-Feb-2013
i bought this buggy when i was pregnant with my second child my wee boy at time was 1 year old and i used it with him for a couple of months no problems. then i had ma wee girl it was brill i recomended the buggy to loads of folk and one day when i was bumping the buggy up the stair (might add she was only 3 months old) on the 3rd step there was a snapping sound and the buggy tipped to one side the frame had snapped right across the bolt. babystyle replaced took them two weeks but got new frame. 5 months later a new born baby got on my bus so folded the buggy when getting off bus i unfolded buggy placed daughter in it then relised that it hadnt unfolded properly removed daughter to relise that the hindge where it folds had snapped. babystyle refused to replace frame saying that is was no longer under warrentry and where going to charge me £80 to fix it safe to say it went into tip

"Great pushchair - cant be any better!…"
31-Jan-2013
I have the travel system since my son was born. I used the carrycot at the begining and my l.o. was fine in it, also have to say it was quite light. Then when my son got bigger I start using the seat unit. It is very easy to fold chassi and easy to remove seat/carrycot/car seat. When I fold it it comes to very small peace that can fit in the smallest boot. I have the footmit and my l.o. loves it - keaps him warm in the cold days. I love my walks so I go out every day even in the public transport and I found is easy to move and push. The package I had come with the changing bag which is a bit small for the staff I carry so I had to buy another one. I had the oyster car seat as well which is a bit heavy but I haven't tryed any others.

"how did this win awards?…"
15-Jan-2013
Advantages:
- it folds up
- cheap and cheerful- it is a no frills pushchair!
Disadvantages:
-carrycot is wobbly
-fabric is cheap, stains easily and falls apart- very tacky!
- chassis does not feel sturdy
-handlebar is quite low
-the seat isnt really a 'sit in' seat but more a 'sit on' seat so the infant is not supported properly
- the straps are very small and my one year ond doesn't fit into it properly
- the wheels struggle to go up curbs without lifting the whole thing
Personally, i absolutely hate it and im gutted that we didnt look at more options. I hang my head in shame everytime I push it. (gift from mother in law)so stuck :(Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

"very pleased with the oyster travel system…"
18-Aug-2012
Ive been really pleased with the oyster travel system. In my experience of using it for 7 months, so far, nothing has broken on it and it has been very sturdy. I find it incredibly easy to steer and I find it light weight to push. (note i havent pushed any others so I dont have anything to compare this to). Ive covered alot of miles with it as I dont have a car and walk to the shops and go on longer walks too (not off road though). its very easy to unfold/fold up, prior to using it I was worried Id find it difficult but I need not of worried. I used the carry cot for 6 months and have now gone onto the the stroller. My child has appeared very comfortable in both. I found I needed to experiment with adjusting the straps in the various slots to get my child in the right position in the stroller but that was relatively easy. Overall no complaints, however, if I was pushed to say one slight negative it would be how I find putting my shopping into the basket below a little bit challenging (combined with my painful knees since having my child) I find I have to bend down quite low to get my shopping in. (note im putting individual items in to save on bags). When i look at other prams (like you do) and notice one with plenty of room to access the basket below its always an icandy. Nonetheless, great travel system - i also used a britax car seat on the oyster frame. great value for money would definately reccomend.

"Some good points - v.heavy…"
29-Jul-2012
We bought this having purchased an out n about initially - the older model of the out n about didn't have a bumper bar and being our first child we didn't even consider the possibilities of them hanging out of it as they tried to escape....and as a company out n about are terrible when it comes to customer service. Anyway, back to the Oyster. I find it heavy and lacking on the suspension front - however, my DD loved that it faced me. It folds down to a decent size to fit in a small-ish boot and the shopping basket is useful. The chassis does stick and has done since pretty early on and the hood is almost impossible to remove once on. We bought it as it had good reviews and was not too expensive as these things go. We've graduated to a simple and cheap buggy as its just too heavy for me to push at 5 months pregnant with a 19 month old. If the older version of the out n about had had a bumper bar we would not have bothered and tbh I will be putting the oyster on eBay as I tend to carry my newborns in a sling....

"Didn't last 2 months- poor quality!…"
28-May-2012
I was really impressed with this travel system when I purchased it from mothercare. Easy to collapse/ put up, fitted in the boot of my golf, compatible with maxi cosi etc it seemed very good value. However after just a couple of weeks of light use I started to notice the plastic-y moving parts were sticking - carry cot hood and the chassis catch to collapse the buggy. Resulted in me looking like a complete plonker in the car park in the pouring rain whilst trying to wrestle it into the car. Also due to the lack of suspension it really wasn't that great around town - it would frequently jam on shallow kerbs - let alone trying it off road. As it seemed good value I thought I'd just live with it. I also noticed that the carrycot really rocked on it's base - I emailed Babystyle who were clearly uninterested and told me to check with mothercare. However the final straw came after just 8 weeks when the carrycot attachment to the chassis broke completely when I arrived in town for a full day - seriously unimpressed, Mothercare was fortunately around the corner and I upgraded to the bugaboo which has been fab. In my opinion this buggy is a complete waste of time. I

10-Mar-2012
I just love the baby oyster. I did extensive research before choosing the baby oyster and chose it mainly because it was a Which best buy. I have had it for six months now and I am really pleased with my choice. It is comfortable, easy to maneouver and small when folded. There is a wide selection of colours to choose from. It is compatible with a Britax car seat, which is also a Which best buy and is a car seat that performed really well in impact safety tests. I recently had a problem with one of the wheels on the pram (my fault for not checking the bolts). I emailed the customer service department and the problem was dealt with quickly and efficiently - they sent me a replacement wheel free of charge within two days. I am very impressed with the pram and with the customer service. I would definitely recommend it.

Advantages:
-Small so easy to manoevre and fold into car.
-Easy to swap carrycot, seat unit & car seat.
- Adjustable handle (good for taller people!).
Disadvantages:
-Although helpful on the phone, as the manufacturer, they are unobliging when it comes to problems with the buggy and leave you to battle with the supplier.
-Problem collapsing chassis, no replacement was offered when taken for inspection - extremely inconvenient.
-Stitching easily came away on seat unit cover, had to ask for replacement.
- Small basket underneath and difficult to access when carrycot/seat unit/ car seat in place.
- Some companies do not give refunds for Babystyle items (e.g. Bambino Direct and affiliated companies).Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

08-Feb-2012
I love this pram! the carry cot lasted for 4 month, until my little one got bored and decided he wants to sit and watch around, but it was perfect as a travel cot/moses basket. This pram is so small when folded (fits even very small carboot) and very light to lift up.It has all the bits and bobs you need, including good size basket. Also looks very elegant.there is only one thing I don't like - the clip system for the warm cover - its little tight, but after some use will loosen up.

"I bought this after reading the good reviews on Mumsnet…"
17-Nov-2011
I bought this after reading the good reviews on Mumsnet and after trying to "pop to the shops" with a baby on one arm! Not possible! So having poo-poohed the idea of a travel system I decided to invest in this one when DS was 4 months old as he hated going in a flat pram by then. Generally I'm very pleased with it and have had 10 weeks of good use so far (mainly used in a town for walks from my house or car, not public transport).
It's brilliant with the Maxicosi car seat for nipping round the shops and things like going to the pub/cafe - means baby can be at table level with you and you can wheel in all his gear underneath (obviously I hold him on my lap as well!). It's a little hard to remove the car seat with baby in it: the catches work well but you need to use both hands so it unbalances a little, I expect most travel systems are the same.
The pushchair is fab too and can be lifted off so easily to face either direction or fold down. I've only used the most reclined position so far so can't comment on it more upright. One disappointment is the hood - in the photos it appeared to stretch down a long way to shield baby, but of course in the most reclined position that's not the case as the hood reclines too. It's still better than some hoods but that's my main gripe. The sun-net doesn't keep the sun out of DS's eyes (which annoys him) but hopefully it does keep off the UV rays and is a clever idea.
The only other complaint is the chassis, sometimes the catch to fold it down doesn't quite work and you have to waggle it around. That could be the individual product or the design, however when that works it is very easy to fold down.
It's quite bulky (though I believe it's not bad as travel systems go). I have a 5-door corsa and can't get the oyster in the boot if the pushchair seat is included. So I end up taking the pushchair seat out and stacking that separately. But that's easily done. Still if you want something lightweight and smaller then go for a stroller not a travel system.
The plus points:
Lightweight to manouver / carry
Handle means easy to steer one-handed, and extends/folds easily
Seat can face both ways - great
Fab with the Cabriofix carseat
Shopping basket nice and sturdy
Very stylish
Minus points:
Fairly bulky for a small boot
Hood doesn't come far enough when reclined
Chassis sometimes sticks when folding upRead moreLess3 people found this review helpful.

Love this travel system. We did lots of research and this met all our needs, we have used it from the beginning with the Britax SHR carseat which fits into the frame without any adaptors.
The carrycot was great and used this up until our DD was just over 5 months, the pushchair is great and we love the fact that it is rearfacing and also lays really flat for when they are a bit younger. Folds away really well and is lightweight too. Comes in some great colours too - well worth the money and would really recommend it.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

31-Aug-2011
Love it!! What makes this an absolute winner for me is that I can use it rearfacing for baby, with my 3 year old on the Oyster Ride On Board. Because Babystyle have designed this board for the pushchair it clips on easily without oscuring the brake and whats more - does not invalidate your warranty like other buggy boards.
Plus price includes footmuff and insect net/sunshade and raincover. Bargain! Previously owned Icandy Cherry and I prefer this, and it was loads cheaper!
Didn't use travel system but can say that this is the best pushchair I've had and I don't feel the need to get another one. This is pushchair no 10 and have had it a good few months. Only negative I can think of is need 2 hands to fold so not great for public transport.Read moreLess6 people found this review helpful.

Excellent travel system, takes upu very little space in the boot as wheels are detachable at the press of a button. The shopping basket is a good size and you even get a bag or life that matches your colour pack, pushchair apron/cosy toe and rain cover are all included in the price. Also the two built in uv and insect nets are brilliant. The pushchair faces either direction which is great and very important for me especially when ds is only 7 months. Cant think of anything negative about it my dp loves it to and as the handle is height adjustable he find it easy to push as well.
brilliant pushchair and so much better value for money then some of the similar ones on the market.Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

Hands down best travel system in my opinion. We did loads of research beforehand and heard about it when it received an excellent 'Which' review. It takes the bugaboo idea and perfects it. It also comes in at half the cost! Can steer with one hand, light but sturdy, excellent in country as well as city.

"We LOVE our Oyster! Spent a lot of time researching…"
16-Jul-2011
We LOVE our Oyster! Spent a lot of time researching travel systems online and we are so pleased with it.
We have used it since birth with the carrycot which doubles as a bassinette which was great as J could be wheeled around the flat while he was sleeping! It fits a maxicosi car seat (which we used) as well as a britax one and one of theirs I think. Once baby is too big for the carry cot, the seat unit fits on facing mum which was really important to us as well as the other way which he now does :(. It is really light, easy to manoeuvre, folds up really small and is super comfy. It also has a bar to attach toys to. Although it is classed as a 'city pram' we have taken it through fields, over ice and snow and across parks. Pleased we waited to get the colour pack. We have bought a cheapy buggy to take to nursery but only as I can't bear the Oyster being bashed around in the buggy shed! Its not too bulky and fits in our Vectra with room for a million other things. Def have a look at the video on the babystyle website.Read moreLess2 people found this review helpful.

Brought this when before my baby was born. Found it excellent and still using it now when hes 16 months! Value for money is excellent - we also looked at an i-candy and I'm so glad we chose the oyster. The carrycot is excellent and with a proper materess doubled up as a moses basket. The pushchair with the built in sunshade was invaluable on hols and very compact for a travel system buggy. Only sligt fault was the car seat and I would buy a maxi cosi in future

excellent stroller so lightweight and fitted perfectly in the back of my Vauxall Safira boot which is tiny, thanks to the removeable wheels. The matching carrycot is so easy to put on and take off and my baby sleeps lovely in their.
Although not an all terrain pushchair i have been for walks in the woods, accross a beach, cobbles and even across the corseway to St Michaels Mount and have been realy impressed with the durability.
I have had five children and compared to some of the heavy bulky contraptions i have used in the past the oyster is a dream.
I would recommend to anyone and everyone and wish this was around when i had my first child. Love itRead moreLess1 person found this review helpful.

We LOVE the Oyster!! After hours of searching for the best we could afford, Which said this was one of the best and so we decided to get it. We didn't check if it would fit in our 2 door Beamer but it fits fine :) The basket is a little too small but I love the handle (no temptation to try and hang bags off it) and I love how smooth it is. Definitely a brilliant buy! Although we did buy the Maxi Cosi Cabrio car seat.

It's the best out there. Had a problem with it after the warranty expired, took it back to the shop and was surprised that they sent it off and Babystyle fixed it even though we didn't have a receipt. The fact that you can turn it both ways is brilliant and the shopping basket holds loads. Very lightweight and the handle extends plus sunshine and mosquito net.

"I bought this to use as a buggy, so can't…"
13-Dec-2010
I bought this to use as a buggy, so can't comment on the rest of the travel system although we did use a Maxi Cosi car seat with it. DD2 was much taller than DD1, and although we mostly travelled sling-style, when she grew out of our pram, I wasn't ready to move her forward-facing so shelled out for the Oyster as it had both rear and front-facing options, expecting to only use it for 6 months or so.
It's easy to use, the fold is neat enough for our boot, and although you can fold it in one piece in forward-facing mode, it packs in neater when you take the seat off. It seems comfy enough, I like the fact it doesn't have a deep seat, so the child's view isn't obscured. The car seat converters worked well, and it also fitted a Maxi buggy board easily. Because of the frame finish it scratches easily, and the pale grey shopping basket is capacious but not particularly practical (it looked filthy as soon as we'd been out in the rain once). Really my only quibbles are these: because the front wheels are small, it feels like you're going tip your kid on their face going down kerbs; I found the seat now needs me to put my full body weight on it to click it onto the frame; I would like a better viewing panel to check on your baby when front-facing (or at least one that doesn't have strong velcro on it that is guaranteed to wake your sleeping baby undoing it!)
I particularly like: the easy of folding; weight and maneuverability; the height adjustable handle (6' DP had no trouble); the child's unobstructed view.
Hope that helps.Read moreLess5 people found this review helpful.
