"I have a Tenby, which is almost exactly the same"
14-Nov-2010
I have a Tenby, which is almost exactly the same as the "Kensington" model, available new from Silver Cross. It has a folding chassis and boat bottomed pram unit.
Beautiful to look at, a dream to push and a bed on wheels for the baby! Mine has lasted from birth to 2 and a half for 2 of mine now and will be pressed into service for my next baby. There is loads of space on the tray for shopping and it really makes an impact wherever it goes. For me though, the main advantage of these types of pram are that the baby gets to sleep properly in a warm snug and safe environment. They are higher than in a standard pushchair so really are face to face and you can interact with them far better. They come with rein rings to keep an older baby or toddler safe. Accessories and spares are easily available and some genuine vintage accessories are out there, particularly on eBay. I used the toddler seat on mine, which was a lot easier than a twin buggy. It is smaller in width than a twin buggy, so have never had any problems with getting into and out of shops.
The downside is, of course, the size if you need to transport it, although it fits into the boot of my Zafira with the back 2 seats flat easily. The other major drawback is that whenever we are out, we get stopped by ladies of the older generation who want to have a look and chat about it, so it does make shopping trips longer!
A new one will be in the £800 region, but second hand ones, which in my opinion are nicer, are available on eBay and Preloved for less than half that. Which means they are a lot cheaper than the designer type buggies available, and will last a lot longer. I will be saving mine for my grandchildren!Read moreLess1 person found this review helpful.
